September 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm CollectiveSolidarity. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Two envelopes problem—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Thank you, I was only trying to capitalize the T in Two, it was a total accident and I am glad someone noticed. I am new at this, and am still trying to get used to the interface, so thanks for the suggestions. SocksnCrocs (talk) 16:02, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sorry I made a mistake. I think I need to slow down a bit. Anyway, welcome! Do you have any questions? I can try to answer some that you have. CollectiveSolidarity (talk) 16:04, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm good exploring on my own right now for the most part, but I'm having a bit of issue improving instead of just slightly altering the wiki pages. I'm trying my best :) I was wondering if you could take a look at my edit on 'Elementary arithmetic' and give me any suggestions? ALso, is there a way to edit the title of a page if there is a missing capital letter or typo? thanks so much SocksnCrocs (talk) 16:12, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit to elementary arithmetic was good! If you like copyediting, there is a Guild of Copyeditors that you might want to join in the future. After you start learning the rules and all.
In regards to the title of a page, can you clarify that you meant either the bolded words at the beginning of a paragraph, or the title at the top of the page itself? CollectiveSolidarity (talk) 16:18, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the copyediting group :) As far as the title, I was referring to the large title at the very top of the page, like the name of a celebrity, dog breed, country etc. It seems as though I can't edit it, which would make sense, but I'm still curious. Thanks once again for hleping me out today :) SocksnCrocs (talk) 16:22, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying! The title can be changed by a process known as moving. New users like yourself will not be able to move pages just yet, but after 4 days tenure and 10 edits, you will be able to start moving pages and doing other things. Basically, you'll be granted the benefits outlined here. Once you move pages, remember that you leave behind a redirect, meaning that if a user types up the old page's title, they will be taken to the current page's title. Moving is a complicated process, and I suggest reading up on how to do it within the rules before making some moves. The blue links that I made above have some information. If anything seems unclear to you on those pages, you can ask me or go to the Teahouse, a place where more experienced editors can answer questions. Cheers!
