Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

Your article submission has been declined, and Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bogaris was not created. Please do not recreate this article, as it was composed mainly of copyrighted information. Thank you. Fridae'§Doom | Spare your time? 05:01, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Help[edit]

I created an article with text of my own homepage, it was considered as a copyrighted content from a web site, but It was my web site and was my text. I wrote an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org affirming that I am the creator and owner of this copyright but my user is still blocked. I need another opportunity to write this article, I have it at http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogaris in spanish without problems. The fact is that I don't want to change my user name, I want to demonstrate that I am the creator and owner of text's copyright I wrote at the article who promotes my indefinite blocked Soportebogaris}}

Read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and read the block notice above. You should not be using Wikipedia to write about your own company. JohnCD (talk) 10:56, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But there are a lot of companies like us that have an article at wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abengoa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corte_Ingles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telefonica http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telvent

I want to write an encyclopaedic article about my company, I've done it in Spanish without problems. The fact is the article was written, but was erase considering as a copyrighted content. I want to demonstrate I am the creator and owner of text's copyright and create an encyclopaedic article according wikipedia's policy.Soportebogaris

I do not believe that this is an "issue" but as you are blocked from editing on wiki, and according to WP:USERNAME there are many issues with what you want to do. All of the examples that you have given may or may not been edited by other users. So as WP:GROUPNAME says, " A username that is the name of a company or group implies the intent to promote this group. Accordingly, such usernames may be indefinitely blocked. Even if the name is ambiguous, accounts with a company or group name as a username may be indefinitely blocked if their editing behavior appears to be promotional." which is what happened here. If you have any other questions, please let us know.--WolfnixTalk • 16:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)

Each Wikipedia has its own rules and standards. Here on the English Wikipedia people are strongly discouraged from writing about themselves or their companies, and usernames representing a company or group are not permitted. Also, the fact that there is an article about one company is not accepted as an argument for allowing an article about another - see What about article x? Wikipedia is not a business listing directory. Please read these guidelines:
Then, if you want to proceed, post an unblock request below here by putting {{unblock|your reason here}}, explaining what sort of edits you want to make, and how you will comply with the conflict of interest rules. Another administrator will consider it. JohnCD (talk) 16:54, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Quite apart from the copyright issue, the proposed article was totally promotional, and so unacceptable. As for "I don't want to change my user name", we all have to either comply with Wikipedia's policies or not edit here, whatever we "want". The block notice says "Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes", and so there is no point at all in asking to be unblocked and indicating that you wish to be unblocked in order to promote your company. To do so is to confirm the reason for your block. Finally, what exists on Spanish Wikipedia is irrelevant, both because Spanish Wikipedia may have different standards than English Wikipedia and for reasons explained at WP:OTHERSTUFF. It sounds as though your plan is still to use Wikipedia for writing about a subject in which you have a conflict of interest. As far as I can tell, you haven't expressed an interest in contributing in any way other than that to Wikipedia, and since we don't write about our own companies here, it appears that you don't need an account at this time. If you ever become interested in volunteering to write an encyclopedia, please feel free to create a personal account and improve any of the many articles in which you aren't personally connected. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:01, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:51, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I understand these three principles, I will try to make it best and create an article according all the rules of wikipedia. I will study other articles of similar companies to learn what I must to do. Thank you for your help.Soportebogaris

Thanks for you reply. I have a couple of things I think need to be clarified:
  1. Your requested username appears to be "grupo bg" - which I presume stands for "BoGaris Group"? As such, it would still be unacceptable as a username. If I am mistaken, could you explain the name?
  2. Am I right that you still want to create an article about Bogaris? I am unable to find evidence that it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines and specifically the notability guidelines for businesses and organisations. The coverage linked to in the Spanish article is minor coverage - or from sources which do not appear to meet Wikipedia's reliable sources criteria - and I should point out that the presense of an article on the Spanish Wikipedia does not automatically mean that there should be one in the English Wikipedia - each Wikipedia is independent.
  3. Whether or not you intend on working on an article about Bogaris, do you intend on editing in other areas? If so, which articles/topics would you be editing?
If you could respond to these points, that would enable an admin to properly judge whether you should be unblocked or not -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 09:15, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply PhantomSteve,

  1. You are not mistaken about my requested username, I change it again to: dlopezSevilla, is an abbreviation of my name and my city. I'm sorry about this new error.
  2. Yes, I want to create an article about Bogaris, let me try to demostrate our notability, I can create a draft article and someone can check it.
  3. I don't want to edit other articles, I only want to create an encyclopaedic article about Bogaris.

Thanks for your help.Soportebogaris

  • From a search that I have made, I cannot find evidence that Bogaris would meet the notability guidelines (see here and here). However, it might be that there are reliable independent sources which verify the notability of Bogaris (see here for "identifying reliable sources" and here for "independent sources"). Please could you give some examples of 2-3 sentences, along with reliable independent sources for each sentence/fact which show that Bogaris meet the notability criteria? Although you probably wouldn't be unblocked to create an article yourself, if you can show that independent reliable sources exists it might be possible for someone else (not connected with the group) to do so - we can give more information about this if you can show that the group meet the criteria for inclusion. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 10:45, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There most important newspapers in Spain are "El Pais" and "ABC", the first link is from ABC speaking about our 20th aniversary and the second one is from "El Pais" speaking about our projects in Portugal: Article "ABC" and article "El Pais".

We have offices in Bulgaria too, there is an article at "Capital", an important economic newspaper of this country, but is written on bulgarian language cyrillic: "Capital".

Help[edit]

{{Helpme}} Can I do something more?
Will they unblock my user?
Someone else not connected with the group will create the article?
Thanks for your help. Soportebogaris

from what i can see on the page above, it appears you have been blocked for a promotonal username and making promotional articles. For the username, you can change it but it is up to administrators so ill leave {{helpme}} there. Sophie (Talk) 19:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was blocked for promotial username, I requested a new one (dlopezSevilla), they asked me some questions, and finally they told me to show

some reliable independent sources which verify the notability of Bogaris, but I don't have a response if is enough or not. Thanks for your help. Soportebogaris

We worry lots about single purpose accounts and conflict of interest. Noting that the primary advice given previously has been;
you are very strongly encouraged to avoid editing Wikipedia in areas where there is a conflict of interest (WP:COI)
As you only want to write this specific article, why don't you simply write it, below, with appropriate references to reliable sources, in neutral words, and so on - and then use a 'helpme' so we can look at it, see if it is OK?  Chzz  ►  14:49, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks! Give me some days to create the article and I will paste below Soportebogaris

{{helpme}} This is my article:

I would like to add a logo of the company into the "infobox company" like at the Spanish article (see here) but I can't do it with my blocked user. Thanks for your help Soportebogaris

Don't worry, if the topic passes the notability test the logo could be added later. I've posted at WikiProject Spain in the hope that a Spanish-speaker article reviewer can work through the references you have provided. I'll leave your {{helpme}} in place, though, in case that attracts a suitable reviewer. -- John of Reading (talk) 21:47, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I'll have a go. I've looked through most of the refs offered. This one from ABC, third largest newspaper in Spain, is exactly the type of third party ref that we need for establishing notability as its about the company and its history by a large nationwide Spanish newspaper. The El Pais one however is about the Olive Oil business in general and merely mentions Bogaris in passing. The Romanian source covers the company's purchase of land there. The El Mercurio source doesn't cover the company in depth, just mentions it as one of several companies involved in an "olive oil boom." El Almeria is again just a brief mention. "Euromedia Comunicación" seems to be a PR company providing paid advertising and can be ruled out as a source for notability considerations. Interempresas similarly doesn't appear to be a third party source, just an industry networking page. However a look around outside that turns up sources such as the following: coverage of the company's activities in one of Spain's two biggest newspapers and coverage of its year end figures in La Vanguardia, the 4th largest newspaper in Spain. Certainly appears to be a notable business, covered in independent 3rd party sources, the article now just needs to be written in an NPOV way. Valenciano (talk) 22:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article does not have any inline citations - footnotes - so it is impossible to tell which of the facts are covered by which appropriate source. See WP:REFB.
Also, it still sounds like an advert - because it uses industry jargon, weasel words, WP:PEACOCK terms, etc. See WP:TONE.
So, that's the issues, really; lack of inline references to verify the facts, and it's not neutral. Chzz  ►  22:34, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the draft you posted to your talk page, it does not belong there, it belongs in a user subpage.
I created one User:Soportebogaris/Bogaris
However, if it were moved to the main space as is, it would probably be deleted as spam.

Help[edit]

{{Helpme}} I do a summary of the help I need:

1. In July of 2010 I created an article about the company I work for: "Bogaris" with the username "soportebogaris. " The article was deleted for two reasons: the text was not encyclopedic, and my user name was considered as Spam for the reason of containing the name of my company.

2. In September I asked the user name change to "dlopezSevilla" but wikipedia didn't change it, I was asked to demonstrate the relevance of my company with external sources and posted links and prove it.

3. On October 18 they ask me to write my article on my user talk page for review, I dis it.

4. On 27 October, was check the notability of my company and is considered as notable, but again I am asked to write the article without using business terms.

5. In December 2010 I add to my user talk page an article written by a person outside the company using a non-business language, but SPhilbrickT delete it and create this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Soportebogaris/Bogaris

In short, the text that is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Soportebogaris/Bogaris is written by an outsider to "Bogaris", I want to change my user name "dlopezSevilla" I want someone to review this article.

I'm sorry, but as a blocked user, you cannot edit Wikipedia. You would first have to request, and be accepted, for unblocking - as explained above. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  12:03, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And someone not connected with the company can publish my article? Article is created, the relevance of the company is verified, someone could publish the article, I do not need to be unblocked.
Thanks for your help Soportebogaris

Relax. If this company is notable, you won't have to ask anyone to write an article about it- lots of people will be interested in it, and will write about it, without your needing to lift a finger. If lots of outside people aren't interested enough to write an article, then trying to have one created is just creating a target for vandalism and negative information added by business rivals, with few people watching the article to revert and improve it. If there aren't lots of people interested enough in the subject to write about it without being asked, you don't want a Wikipedia article about it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:53, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
