Adoption offer

[edit]

Hello, St3p41! I see that you are looking for an adopter; I would be happy to mentor you. I've been on Wikipedia about a year and a half, have ~7800 edits, and on a real-life note, love playing soccer. I'm sure I would enjoy answering your questions and teaching you the ropes around here. You can leave a note here or on my talk page with your reply. Cheers, PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:18, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Princess of Llyr!!! Thank you very much!!! Wow!! You have done lots of edits!!! You must have enough experience working with Wikipedia!!! I´m happy I´ll be working with you!!! My English teacher wants us to write an article about any subject… I haven´t chose any topic yet. I ´ll be glad if you help me chose a good topic!!! Hope you write me soon!! And again thank you very much!!!

Great! Okay, I'll start with a couple of basic points for conversing. Normally conversations here (on talk pages) are formatted using a colon (:) to space the different replies. For instance, if you look at this reply in the editing window, the colon at the beginning spaces my reply from yours, making it easier to read. For the next reply, you could use two colons (::) or start back at the beginning (no colon). See this page for a more detailed explanation. (I assume you know about links here, if not, just click on the blue link and it will take you to the page.) Also, we sign our comments with four tildes (~~~~), which produces your username, the date, and time. You can see an example of that in either of my posts. That helps to make the conversation easier to read.
For choosing a topic, that is very much up to you. Make sure you read the notability guidelines first. I suggest you choose a topic in which you are interested and about which you can find plenty of verifiable information. You can run ideas past me and I will try to tell you whether or not you could likely create a good article out of them.
Finally, if you can give me an idea of what times you will likely be working here, I will try to see if I can be online at the same time, so you'll have real-time help. Feel free to post any questions you have here or on my talk page. I, or my talk page stalkers, will most likely answer as quickly as possible. I'm happy to be working with you! Im back!!! My team and I were thinking about "Small and Medium Enterprise" for the topic of our article... what do you think??

I don´t have a specific schedual, but usually I´m online from 7:00pm to 9:30pm!! I´ll be waiting for your response!! Have a nice day!! St3p41 (talk) 18:50, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good work with the spacing and signing! For separate paragraphs, you will need to use the colons again; see my reply above and how it was spaced. Unfortunately, I don't think you can write an article about small and medium enterprise because Wikipedia already has one - Small and medium enterprises. Also, could you link me to your team's page, or each of their pages? For a tip, when you make an edit you should fill in the edit summary box. It will show up below the editing window and should be used to briefly describe what you have changed in an article or on a talk page. For instance my edit summary for this will be "reply". You can look at my contributions for a complete list of my summaries. An edit summary is useful for other people so they know what you have done. Finally, you speak English quite well for a second language! I have taken some Spanish classes, but I'm not very good. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:04, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Princess of Llyr!!!! hello again!! haha
What we were thinking is to make an article about PyMEs (small and medium enterprice) in Mexico, since they are very important for our economy, we have already check and there´s no article about it yet.. What do you think??
Thank you!! Im not very good at grammar... but I try to do my best!! I am studing marketing in a program called: "bachelor", which means that all my classes are in English (except for my computer and math classes), and that I will have to be 3 semesters out of the country, which is very exciting for me!!!
If you have any question about Spanish language please let me know!! I´ll be glad to help you!!
All your tips are very usefull!!! I have already use them all!! Thank you a lot!!St3p41 (talk) 00:51, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I should have mentioned this before, you do not have to sign your edit summaries, just talk page posts. An article about SME in Mexico sounds like it would work. I'm not sure if you've learned this before, but you should probably start the article in a sandbox so that you can build it without having a bunch of other people getting into it and so that you can work out most of the problems before it's published. The sandbox can be in your userspace or maybe the project space. See my sandbox for an example. A sandbox is just a subpage where you can practice edit.
Another useful button is the "show preview" button which should appear right next to "save page" under the editing box. You can use this to look at what your edit will change before it goes live. This can help you check for proper spelling and formatting. I use it for almost every edit.
You are doing a great job learning here! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:32, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The sandbox sounds great!!! That will be very useful!!! Since you have approved our topic, I will start looking for information about PyMEs in Mexico!! When I get something about it I will show it to you, so you can give me your opinion!! Thank you a lot!! Have a nice day!!! St3p41 (talk) 19:13, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello!!!! how are you? hope you´re great!!! my friends and I have already create our article, it isn´t finish yet, we are uploading information day by day, so anytime you want to take a look, be my guest!! Your comments will be very useful!! The name of the article is "Pymes in Mexico"St3p41 (talk) 02:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing great! How are you? The first thing about the article is that it needs to be renamed to reflect the English name, probably something like "Small and Medium Enterprises in Mexico". Also, you need to pay attention to the fact that this is an encyclopedia article, not an academic paper. For instance, you should not list the pros and cons of SME's in Mexico unless you can back that up by reliable sources. I will thoroughly read it and leave more comments later. Good work to begin with! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:25, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Im fine!!! thank you!!! We are having problems in finding the way to change the article´s name, can you help us please??, and the list of pros and cons were taken from reliable sources, so actually they are facts... but if you think it would be a better idea to take them off, please let us know!!! I have uploaded again more information, actually I have done the "official supports", I´ll be great if you take a look and give me your point of view... maybe there are thinks that are not clear or that need to be more specified... please let me know!!! Have a nice day!!! I´ll be waiting for your response!! St3p41 (talk) 01:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What would you like to rename to? I'll move it for you. The list of pros and cons is fine if you cite the source where you found them. The section you wrote is okay, but here are a couple of things to consider: everything needs to be backed up by reliable sources and those sources don't need to be self-published, like something off of a company's website. Other than that, your work looks good. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:48, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you told me the name of the article "PyMES in Mexico" needed to be renamed to reflect the English name... that is what we don´t know how to do, if you have time, can you show us how to do it? Thank you very much!! I´ll consider every single thing you said!! St3p41 (talk) 03:18, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back with you. It looks like your professor moved it for you and that title looks fine. Continue the good work! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:58, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
