If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:St Mary's CE Primary N8/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. /wia /tlk 16:01, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (November 11)[edit]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because this account has been used only for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia's content policy. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation, which is against Wikipedia's username policy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a free advertising service. If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 16:34, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

Please help me with...I am trying to create a page for our school. I think I have made an error with the selection of the username. Does it not make sense to have the name of the school as the username?

St Mary's CE Primary N8 (talk) 10:50, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can't use Wikipedia to host a page promoting your school, as you did before being blocked: that is what your school's web site is for, but it is not what Wikipedia is for. As explained above, Wikipedia is not a free advertising service. Also, primary schools are not normally considered notable enough to be the subjects of Wikipedia articles. This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

We would like to keep this name as it is the name of our school

Decline reason:

(1) You can't keep the user name, because, as explained above, it is contrary to Wikipedia policy. (2) Your use of the words "we" and "our" indicate that you are still intending to use the account as a shared account on behalf of the school: an account is for an individual, and, as explained above, may not represent an organisation. (3) Apart from the username, you have not addressed the other issue, namely the nature of the editing you have done: you may find it helpful to re-read the block message above, especially the part beginning "If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic". You are not going to be unblocked so that you can continue to use Wikipedia to post a page promoting your school, as you have done before.
