Nomination of Korean Pop Music Scandals for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Korean pop music scandals is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Korean pop music scandals until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:51, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Korean pop music scandals, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Korean pop music scandals was changed by Standage (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.961843 on 2011-06-15T03:39:44+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 03:39, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Korean pop music scandals[edit]

I would not give up on the AfD yet! The discussion lasts for a week, and often you can't really tell where it's going to go in the first couple of days!

The AfD will be closed by a non-involved administrator sometime after 23:46, 20 June 2011 (UTC) - although it's not unknown for one to be open for up to 2 days after, as we sometimes have a backlog.

Obviously, as an admin who is very much involved with the discussion (!) then I won't be closing it.

As I have mentioned, I have no personal motive behind this nomination for deletion beyond the desire to make Wikipedia the best encyclopaedia possible - sometimes, that means articles may need deleting. I am in the UK, have no knowledge of the Korean pop music scene - if you look at my contributions (as Phantomsteve) or my contributions (as Phantomsteve.alt), you'll see that I don't edit k-pop articles or Korean articles (although I may have edited the odd one over the last 6 years).

I may not think that this article is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, that does not mean that I do not appreciate the work you put into it - you did well for a new editor, and I hope that you will continue to edit Wikipedia regardless of the outcome of the AfD. Wikipedia always needs editors and I hope you will stay.

I am not expecting to comment further at the AfD, as I have said everything I wanted to say - but I will still be watching it… I might see an argument presented that will get me to change my mind, and I can only do that if I read newer contributions!

You probably wouldn't want to, but if you need help on Wikipedia in the future, please feel free to contact me.

Regards, -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 05:40, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Robman - Why are you deleting content and arguments on the discussion page?[edit]

Then after I accuse you of doing that, you accuse me of "sockputtery?" Unbelievable.

Working with Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Standage, I'm sorry that your initials attempts to edit at Wikipedia have been frustrating for you. I would encourage you to stick around but it would be a good idea to do some reading first, just to get the lay of the land. I have added the "welcome" template to the top of your talk page as this includes some useful links to stuff that you might want to read.

It's not uncommon for new editors to get frustrated by all the rules and regulations here in wikiland, especially when the first page they create gets deleted, or get nominated for deletion. Pages get nominated for deletion all the time here and while I don't always agree with the rules, they are what they are. You should always assume good faith on the part of the person who either nominated your work for deletion, or actually deleted it. Arguments for or against deletion in WP:AFD discussions should be based on policy, not things like WP:ILIKEIT or WP:IDONTLIKEIT. In order to help the discussion at the AfD for the Korean pop music scandals discussion, I have collapsed the comments from yourself and 1 or 2 others, as the sheer volume of text was prohibitive to further discussion.

If you have truly decided to give up on the article, you have 2 options. You can (a) do nothing or (b) you can actually vote delete in the discussion. What you cannot do, however, is blank the article. You do not own any of your contributions. You may have noticed the following piece of text on the screen when you submitted your edits: "By clicking the "Save Page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL." This release statement means that all of your wiki contributions are now basically in the public domain, so you no longer have the right to delete them just because you want to. If you blank an article, as you have done a couple of times to the Korean scandals piece, you will be reverted and eventually blocked from editing, which would be a very unfortunate turn of events, but hopefully things won't get to that level.

Anyway, I hope you take a step back and re-assess what you want to do here at Wikipedia and find a way to continue.

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Standage for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. Robman94 (talk) 22:17, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some administrator out here is an IDIOT. I have been harassed by an organized group of losers who seem to spend 24/7 out here and who were regularly vandalizing a page I had contributed to. I've written directly to the Executive Director about this.

It's apparent that after complaints were made about them, suddenly some sympathethic administrator came along and did their will.

Like I care - I can live without this sanctuary for low-life with too much time on their hands.

This whole incident shows that wikipedia is a joke. You have high school dropouts here with nothing to do who form groups and attack pages. That's the nature of wikipedia.

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked for a period of 2 weeks for blatant disruption and sock puppetry. –MuZemike 04:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but please read our guide to appealing blocks first.
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was falsely accused

Decline reason:

This assertion is insufficient to rebut a checkuser finding of sockpuppetry.  Sandstein  05:07, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Admins rarely (if ever) overturn a block that has a checkuser finding of Possible, Likely, or Confirmed behind it, since the checkuser tool checks nonpublic data that is (more or less) unique to each person - data which admins have no access to aside from the checkuser report. —Jeremy v^_^v Components:V S M 05:16, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Standage". The reason given for Standage's block is: "Disruptive editing: and sock puppetry".

Decline reason: Your message above shows why you're blocked. If you cannot handle the WP:CONSENSUS model, and are unwilling/unable to work within a collegial, community endeavour, then please remain blocked. Personally, I'll take my university 2 degrees and go back to working within the rules. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:55, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
