Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

Andrzej Kusionowicz Grodyński, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Interlanguage links[edit]

Have inserted interlanguage links in a page I created, 'Andrzej Kusionowicz Grodyński', and in English and Polish versions of 'Gwiazdka Cieszyńska' to allow others to access useful information, even if requiring use of a web translator, but these have subsequently been removed with no explanation that I have found. Would be interested to know why this is done and whether this approach can be changed?? StanG 16:26, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia rules[edit]

I strongly encourage you to read Wikipedia rules and adhere to them, especially the ones regarding citing reliable sources and referencing. Wikipedia rules and guidelines are Wikipedia requirements, not any "editor requirements". Regards. - Darwinek (talk) 19:20, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Had read through the citation rules and thought I was following them but it seems my interpretation was incorrect - apologies for this and thank you for your patience and understanding - hopefully my contributions will improve technically as I get more experience - regards 22:01, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Photos[edit]

I categorized your photos on commons, just a hint that there exist a category: commons:Category:Courthouse in Cieszyn, it's a cultural heritage monument building. Cheers from Cieszyn Silesia. D_T_G (PL) 13:55, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help and advice - I will be adding other photos of historic buildings and monuments in future, from Cieszyn and other towns in Poland - am also thinking of adding copies of historical 'portrait photos' that have been handed down in my family although am not sure that this is an appropriate site for them - will try to add appropriate categories for all photos I do upload!

Please, read: commons:Commons:Overcat#Over-categorization. It was enough when this File:Cieszyn Building VB.jpg had only this category: commons:Category:Antoni Osuchowski Lyceum in Cieszyn since this category is already in commons:Category:Schools in Cieszyn which is included in commons:Category:Buildings in Cieszyn. So if this picture has categories Antoni Osuchowski Lyceum in Cieszyn (which is the school I graduated btw) and Buildings in Cieszyn it is over-categorization. Cheers, D_T_G (PL) 10:06, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alicja[edit]

Hello. I understand, that you are not a Polish speaker. :) Alicja is a female name, meaning Alice. Z Alicją is "with Alice" in Polish. "Without Alice" would be "bez Alicji" etc. That's a common typo of English Wikipedians translating text from Polish. :) - Darwinek (talk) 06:56, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are the other references to Alicją in the AKG article therefore also incorrect, or are these OK? [Note that further 'editorial changes' have been made by 'A412'.]--StanG 07:07, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Possible conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Stanisław Grodyński. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Stanisław Sylwester Alfonzy Grodyński, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

 Comment: @Jonesey95: Thank you for taking the time to review the article relating to my grandfather, Stanisław Sylwester Alfonzy Grodyński. Unfortunately I was in the middle of editing the text when I was suddenly called away and not being familiar with article writing and COI terms became confused as to what happened to the changes I had pending. Given my inexperience here I am still not sure that what I have done is consistent with Wikipedia procedures but hopefully the article is now transparently consistent with these. I would stress that I am not creating this text but simply extracting it, and sometimes condensing it, from the book referenced and other records and materials (more text and further references have still to be added). Please advise if I have made any errors in my attempts to rectify the matters you have brought to my attention, or should there be further immediate actions required on my part? Thanks again --StanG 11:03, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Stanisław Sylwester Alfonzy Grodyński, is not suitable as written to remain published. Obviously, there is a large COI issue. Please see WP:COI. In addition, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Not only to satisfy WP:VERIFY, but also to show that he passes WP:GNG, since he does not meet WP:NSOLDIER.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. @Modussiccandi: Thank you for taking the time to review this proposed article.

With reference to the reasons given for declining the article I would like to make the following points, although given I am a relative novice to publishing articles on Wikipedia I understand my grasp of the references you have quoted may be limited.

1. As much of the information in the article was contained in the same source, The Grodynski Brigade (written by my father Andrzej and published nearly ten years ago without, to my knowledge, any challenges in the meantime), I did not think it necessary to provide repeated inline citations, but have included additional citations wherever there may be important details that could be contested, where these are available. Should I repeat citations to the same source throughout the article where appropriate?
2. Stanislaw, my grandfather, following WWI worked for the Polish Ministry of the Interior, so naturally much of his work was not 'public', but a cursory examination of his 'parallel role' as a 'Governor' (Starost) indicates that his appointments were strategically of high importance for Poland given their proximites to Russia (now Ukraine and Belarus) and Germany\Prussia (now north-west Poland). These appointments are all verifiable and there is evidence in newspapers of the day of his military status during WWII in representing Polish Forces at the Garibaldi Commemoration in Italy. The requirement to remain in the background with regard to his activities associated with the Ministry of the Interior extended to his role in support of the Polish Government in Exile, in London, following WWII.
3. With the substantial revisions to the first proposed article I attempted to change the wording into a more 'encyclopedic format' and remove any "Peacock Terms" but it seems I have been unsuccessful in this and would appreciate any advice or identification of specific words or expressions that should be changed? --StanG 11:11, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
