Category:Dead people

[edit]

Hi, can you please stop adding Category:Dead people to uncategorised biographical articles? The banner on the category shows that it is a container category which should only contain subcategories, and the intro says "Please do not add individual people to this category; instead add them to the appropriate year of death category." Also with articles like Altair Franco Ferreira, these should have a much more refined category than Category:Brazilian Army – I suggest Category:Brazilian military personnel or even better one of the subcategories there. Thanks, --Canley (talk) 21:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC) Thank you for pointing this out. I will not do this things from now on. Starman2377 (talk) 13:59, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi Starman2377. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! TheSandDoctor Talk 06:34, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vinny Vinesauce moved to draftspace with a chance of deletion

[edit]

An article you recently created, Vinny Vinesauce, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. MoonlightVector 18:39, 1 September 2021 (UTC) Thank you.[reply]

[edit]

Hello, Starman2377. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Vinny Vinesauce".

Information icon Please do not add back broken code for images, as you did at Pamphlet. If you had, used your eyes, you would have noticed that the code you incorrectly added back, is broken. The image, however, still exists, but I have deemed it to be a poor example, and since the markup for it was already broken, I removed it. If you believed that the image was a good fit for the article, maybe don't blindly add it back without checking the article and not start a Talk Page discussion. Also, if I am wrong in leaving this message, feel free to point out how you disagree, and we can sort it out. December 2022

[edit]

Information icon Hello Starman2377. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Tim Lamont. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), patent nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. We normally wait an hour to allow the creator time to expand the article (except of course, if the page is blatant vandalisn, attack pages, copyright violations) - see Wikipedia:New pages patrol Josey Wales Parley 18:22, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1978 Iranian politics. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

UGC

[edit]

Hello Starman2377! Are you aware of Wikipedia's requirements regarding reliable sourcing? An element of that is that user generated content isn't acceptable (WP:UGC). This is why a draft such as Protogen can never be accepted. Sincerely —Alalch E. 19:35, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removing sourced information and edit summaries

[edit]

Hi Starman2377, I just undid your unexplained removal of some stuff. Not sure why you took it out, since PC Gamer is very much considered a reliable source (see WP:VG/RS). It helps writing an edit summary, for your fellow editors, to see why you decided to do something. Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 21:50, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Im sorry about that i wanted to delete the text about the game having stealth elements (when it only has the option of taking out enemies with a QTE) and i thought that if i delete the text i should delete the source so it doesn't lead to information that isn't present anymore. Again, i apologize and will explain my edits more often. Starman2377 (talk) 15:01, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Starman2377, I've copy-pasted your reply to your talk page. To keep things tidy, please respond here. In case you need to notify me (or another editor), you can use {{u|"username here"}} and replace "username here" with the username of the person you're trying to notify.
You don't have to apologize, I assume good faith and think you're trying to improve the article. If you think the information is no longer up to date or just downright incorrect, look up a different source and add it, instead of removing another source. Then you can write something along the lines of "this was changed later in development" and add a source to back up your claim. In video games, development can change and certain features are removed or added later. So you might be right. If you want to find a reliable source, the WikiProject Video games (see WP:VG) has a very neat and researched list of sources considered reliable, at WP:VG/RS.
I nearly always leave an edit summary, even short ones like "ce" (short for copy-edit), so another experienced editor can see what I was trying to do. If it's more substantial, I leave a longer note and might point to relevant guidelines. There's also an option to enforce yourself to leave one: if you go to preferences and hit the "editing" tab, there should be an option to click "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary)". But again, edit summaries are completely optional.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Now you know how to reach me! Thanks, and happy editing. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:44, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The removal of the Brantley Foster quotation from the Catch-22 (logic) page

[edit]

Hi there,

It looks like you removed the following:

An example is Brantley Foster in The Secret of My Success: "How can I get any experience until I get a job that gives me experience?"

From the aforementioned page.

I think that the quotation works well there as an easily understood example of the logical concept. I also happen to cite it and the page in some of my job applications (including the ones to the Wikimedia Foundation) so I find the removal inconvenient.

Was there a reason that this example was removed from the page?

Best wishes, Donald D. deRosier 2601:204:E580:1EE:C49E:4070:B9F3:5897 (talk) 22:21, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
