If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Summer Solstice Jazz Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.eljazzfest.com/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Re: Your article request[edit]

Hi Jvasque,

I just wanted to share with you that I am currently writing an article for another music festival, Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival, but running into problems. As yet I haven't found ANY news sources talking about the subject outside of the town in which it takes place and one other in the same state. So even though I think I will have enough information, I am afraid it, too, is not meeting notability requirements.

Having said that, I am considering expanding the information about it on some other page that already exists, such as Columbia, Missouri. In it, I could put the festival under its own section heading, or feature it prominently under another, and user searches for it will still point to the right article. Hey thank you for this awesome tip. I could maybe include the festival as part of the city of East Lansing's page since that already exists on wikipedia. What kind of sources are you using for your information about your festival. I'm running into a similar problem in that most of the information is coming from our website, in which we created and have rights to all of the information, but it seems that Wikipedia needs more sources in order to allow any info about the festival to be posted. That's where I'm having problems. I'm searching for "newspaper" articles and have a few local ones plus one in St. Louis, but I was thinking I would find some Chicago Tribune- and LA Times-caliber coverage since the festival has had some pretty mainstream bands. But so far I haven't found those. I do have a couple of genre-oriented websites, which are fine fine but not quite as good. All of these are secondary sources, which you MUST use. If you just Google your festival you will find some, but a lot of what I've found are the bands' own websites talking about the festival when they played at it, and that falls under "primary source," and should not be relied on. I'll be visiting my local libraries to look deeper for better sources. If I don't find them, I almost certainly will abandon my page and go with what I've got in a smaller section somewhere.
Also, to resolve any conflict of interest and possibly save you the work, you might look at East Lansing's edit history, find a good, dedicated editor, and message them on their talk page asking them if they would include/expand the subject there. (I'm checking to make sure this action is allowed. I posted the question in Wikipedia:Teahouse.) Good luck! RM2KX (talk) 15:33, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see that User:Bus stop has given you another good alternative at Teahouse. RM2KX (talk) 15:48, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
