updates[edit]

Thanks for all your heya updates. For whatever reason, the heya get updated very haphazardly and I am not sure when anyone has gone through and systematically updated the info in them (even though ironically, the current formatting of the heya articles is relatively recent). It is appreciated as we don't have the manpower here we did a few years ago. If there is anywhere else you want to add to the sumo info on English wiki, feel free. Thanks once again for those heya updates; it is much appreciated.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:41, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
With pleasure. I will try to update them all (number of wrestlers as January 2018) between today and tomorrow. Sumo ch (talk) 15:51, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

rikishi article updates[edit]

Hey, I know you are mostly updating heya articles right now but just in case. If you ever plan to add any new information to a wrestler's article could you also add an update date (month and date) to the infobox? This will help us keep better track of which rikishi articles haven't seen much attention in a while. Just using it for the infobox is not nearly as useful because for many bread and butter rikishi their tables change very rarely even as their bios etc. slowly get information added. new rikishi articles[edit]

Thank you for the update to the "active wrestler articles needed" list on WP:Sumo. I was the one who came up with those criteria. The idea was to limit the number of rikishi who are often just a flash in the pan in makuuchi and then languish in juryo or often even lower. In many cases, rikishi get a lucky break in juryo and come in at a pretty high rank and then get mostly makekoshi though they still manage to reach the "3 consecutive tournaments" criteria. In these cases I usually don't give them an article. The reason for limiting the number of articles is simple - after a number of years with multiple contributors it has boiled down to me adding the bulk of new articles, and I would say 95 percent of the updates. If you are ever curious about new rikishi articles or are interested in making one yourself, you can check out my sandbox User:FourTildes/sandbox to see what rikishi article I might be working on at the time. Currently anything there has already been transferred to a live article, but I am sure I will be working on some in the near future. ~ ~ ~ ~ (talk) 21:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your message. I agree with your new criterias. The only feasible exceptions could be a rikishi who scores 2 consecutive 10-5 (or close to tha)t in makuuchi, or a regular guy around M10-J5, with 10-12 appearances (2 years) in makuuchi? But these cases are quite rare.
Unfortunately, as english is not my native language, it's hard for me to create an article.Sumo ch (talk) 22:58, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would likely give a wrestler who scores 2 consecutive 10-5's an article, because they look strong enough to be around for a while. If a wrestler bounces back and forth between juryo and makuuchi, like Tamaasuka, I usually eventually give them an article.

By the way, thank you for your Daido correction. I am glad to know someone is checking on these things now and then besides me. As I said, before there were more people involved but there are not so many anymore.

If you find it hard making English articles, that is fine. Your efforts you are doing now are still quite helpful. Thanks again. ~ ~ ~ ~ (talk) 07:21, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
