Thanks Deb. I will work on adding the additional references. I will add the additional references once collected and resubmit. Meanwhile, I will move on and create other pages. Just curious if you could comment on how some articles barely have any references and still managed to get through the review process. Take for example this page for “Andrew Marchand” is an American senior sports media writer for the New York Post. Marchand earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Ithaca College.[1] He spent nine years as a reporter for the New York Post then in 2007 he became a regular contributor to ESPN programs such as Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight, ESPN News, and ESPN New York radio broadcasts.[2] After 11 years at ESPN, Marchand rejoined the New York Post in 2018. The are only 2 references which come from LinkedIn and ESPN. Am I missing something? Sunrisehorizon (talk) 00:27, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deb, thanks for reaching out.

It is my understanding that “academics” are afforded a different standard. The Wikipedia article you sent me on the guidelines on notability of people states:

“ Many scientists, researchers, philosophers and other scholars (collectively referred to as "academics" for convenience) are notably influential in the world of ideas without their biographies being the subject of secondary sources.”

May I add additional citation and resubmit?

Thank you! Sunrisehorizon (talk) 12:57, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sunrisehorizon. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Adam Eid Ramsey ‎, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Sunrisehorizon. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Sunrisehorizon|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Kuru (talk) 16:20, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kuru, thanks for the message. I'm not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits, nor do I have any financial disclosures to make. I'm inspired by the Wikipedia user Jesswade88 who uploads the biographies of women, black and minority ethnic and LGBTQ+ scientists who are contributing/have contributed hugely to science, medicine, technology and engineering but haven't had the attention that they deserve. I look forward to contributing to the Wikipedia community, one minority scientist at a time. Please let me know if there is anything else you may need. Thank you so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunrisehorizon (talkcontribs)
A few things: 1) what is your relation to the Adam Eid Ramsey account that wrote the first draft of that article? 2) Do you understand what I'm saying in the edit comments about the "Los Angeles Tribune", or do I need to go into more details on why that's a paid placement/SEO site? Kuru (talk) 21:04, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Kuru, I don't claim to know all the rules and guidelines of Wikipedia. But is that unusual especially for new users? If the set up was wrong on my end, I apologize. I'm happy to learn from experienced members such as yourself and others. I definitely have every intention to follow the rules and be a productive member of the community. Please advise on the best way moving forward. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunrisehorizon (talkcontribs)
Great! Let's start with 1) what is your relation to the Adam Eid Ramsey account that wrote the first draft of that article? 2) Do you understand what I'm saying in the edit comments about the "Los Angeles Tribune", or do I need to go into more details on why that's a paid placement/SEO site? Kuru (talk) 19:51, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kuru, I appreciate your prompt messages, although repetitive. As I stated before, there is no relationship or financial disclosures to make. It sounds like you would love to elaborate more on what you mean by your 2nd statement. By all means, go for it. I have no relationship or connection to that site either. Hope we can move forward in a more positive light. Cheers! Sunrisehorizon (talk) 20:24, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
