Rahimyar Khan

AOA Dear friend I appreciate yuor contribution to the page of Rahimyar Khan. But being a citizen of aforesaid city, i have doubt on the integrity of your statement "Twin city". You have added multiple cities but as i know it is the twin city of paris only.

I shall be very thankfull to you if you authenticate your statement, and by doing this you will restrict me to not to amend your statement.

Thanks God bless you Muhammad Adnan Rashid Allama Iqbal Town, Rahimyar Khan 03216703039

Jhelum Portal

Hi! Since you seem to be a commited user to Jhelum-related articles and facts, I was thinking it could be a good idea to make a portal about Jhelum. As you may know, portals are pages intended to serve as type of "Main Pages" for specific topics or areas. Note the fact that similar portals already exist on Karachi (Portal:Karachi) and Lahore (Portal:Lahore), and I am seeking to create ones for other major Pakistani cities as well, including Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Multan etc as part of my long-term goals. Additionally, I believe that a Portal on Jhelum can be quite good due to the range and scope of various articles on Wikipedia that have been extended of this city. If you agree or support the idea, please do not hesititate to reply to me on my talk page. If approved, I look forward to collaboratively working with you. Regards, Ali 60.228.216.117 (talk) 01:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

It would be my pleasure to work with u on this project, but you has'nt used any accouct to contact me and that IP address could be used by many users, so how could i contact you.Brainlara73 (talk) 23:43, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Here's my actual ID: User:Teckgeek Ok, let's start then :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teckgeek (talkcontribs) 13:37, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

No problem, convenience and priority always comes first. In terms of where I live, I'm a Pakistani Australian, currently residing in Brisbane. Teckgeek (talk) 03:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay yaar, it's just that i've been busy with Pak-Aus games in the UAE recently, haahaa (just watching one now too). Anyways, i'll hopefully add in some stuff by tomorrow. Already created a short selected article for the Jhelum river, which I am seeking to still expand. I come from Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore by the way.

Best regards, Teckgeek (talk) 10:53, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Check out this by way, quite funny - it's a wiki that encourages original research ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teckgeek (talkcontribs) 03:14, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Oops - overlapping article about Military Colege Jhelum.... :P what to do now?? Teckgeek (talk) 10:34, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I can erase (rub out) mine and merge with yours if you want. Just decide which image you want to keep, the logo or the college picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teckgeek (talkcontribs) 10:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Please do not re-add alleged notable elements to this article without citing them in Reliable Sources. You seem to be making similar additions to those of Manchester boy and INAYAT KARIM, which is peculiar. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 09:54, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

I've left you an answer on my talk page. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 10:14, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
You also need to read guidelines for notability. Individuals and corporations should not typically be added to lists unless they have cited articles showing notability first. And the one source you mention seems only to show that they exist, not that they are notable. Edward321 (talk) 16:07, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

February 2009

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. A contribution you made to FG Intermediat College Jhelum Cantt appears to carry a non-neutral point of view, and your edit may have been changed or reverted to correct the problem. Please remember to observe our core policies. Thank you. Edward321 (talk) 16:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Hoping to foster co-operative editing

I hope you might read this entry on Edward321's talk page, and consider working with him to improve the article on Jhelum (city) rather than each tearing the other's work down? There must be common ground within Wikipedia's guidelines, surely? Fiddle Faddle (talk) 16:37, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Re:Semi-protection request of Jhelum (City)

Hi BrainLara, I don't think the Jhelum page requires semi-protection. Semi-protection is used when there is a lot of anonymous vandalism occuring (like 10 times a day and you are revert every singly time). It seems that you got the vandalism under control for the moment. However, if the vandalism increases or you still wish to semi-protect the page, you may ask at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. Also please read Wikipedia:Semi-protection_policy#Semi-protection which is a guide on when to semi-protect. Thank you GizzaDiscuss © 00:40, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Request to move article Jhelum incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Jhelum to a different title - however your request is either incomplete or has been contested for being controversial, and has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete will be removed after five days.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added a place for discussion at the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved. This can easily be accomplished by adding {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the page, which will automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 19:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

The reference that you have insisted upon reinstating is not suitable. It does not meet WP:RS. I have stated my case on the article talk page. I am about to reinstate my edit removing it and flagging the section as unreferenced. Please find better references. they must pass WP:RS. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 13:53, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Possibly unfree File:Horse Dance Jhelum.JPG

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Horse Dance Jhelum.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Peripitus (Talk) 13:36, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Brainlara73, I deleted this image as an unambiguous copyright violation as

  • The image page claimed that you were the copyright holder and released it under a free licence
  • Contrarily the image is a capture from wikimapia. Wikimapia is not a freely licenced service and prominently states "Imagery (c) 2009" and links to these terms of use"

The licence you picked was simply not compatible with the uploaded image. Unless you took the image yourself with a camera or drew it from scratch, you need to be very careful in claiming that an image has either a GFDL or CC licence - Peripitus (Talk) 23:54, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, Thanks. if i want to upload a google earth image or image from google maps, then i think i should use this Licence: {{Non-free software screenshot}} Am i right? --TalhaDiscuss © 12:51, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
It's much more complicated than that. The screenshot is copyright to google, but the image contained may be copyright NASA or any number of other entities. Also the licence tag simply says that it is copyright - you also need a rationale for use that meets the 10 non-free content criteria and the general terms of use. All of which mean that a google earth image is very difficult to justify using for anything other than an article on the software itself. Best bet to is to search [www.nasa.gov Nasa] and find an image they own..mostly these images are public-domain though you still need to be careful. For maps, there is free mapping software or you can do what I do and create an image from scratch (see File:Anstey_Hill_Recreation_Park_map.svg) - Peripitus (Talk) 12:58, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
But i have seen many images like these under {{Non-free software screenshot}}, like File:Royal Stables.jpg and many others. --TalhaDiscuss © 13:11, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
You will note though that File:Royal Stables.jpg is used in Google Earth specifically to show censorship in the software, not to illustrate the place being imaged - Peripitus (Talk) 03:33, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of History of Sialkot, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Sialkot. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 17:56, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Cut and paste moves

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. – Toon(talk) 21:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Yep, but the same problems occur; because the content was written at Sialkot, you need to note in the edit summary that that's where you got it from, so that the link to editors' contribs is not lost. As WP:SPLITTING states:

To conform with §4(I) of the GFDL, the new page should be created with an edit summary noting "split content from [[article name]]". (Do not omit this step or omit the page name.) A note should also be made in the edit summary of the source article, "split content to [[article name]]", to protect against the article subsequently being deleted and the history of the new page eradicated. It may also be helpful to place the {{Splitfrom}} template on the talk page of the source article to further safeguard against deletion.

Portal

Hello Talha - it's me, Teckgeek. It would have been an absolute delight to work on the portal, but unfortunately, as you may have noticed, I have been discouraged from editing Wikipedia due to some personal misunderstandings with an issue 3 months ago. For this reason, I will have to avoid editing Wikipedia and will be inactive for a very long time in order to legally come back and be able to start editing again. Best of luck though - I am sure there are other Pakistani users who can help. 58.165.99.54 (talk) 09:03, 12 June 2009 (UTC) I will spend the rest of my time working for Wikinews Pakistan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.165.99.54 (talk) 09:05, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Urdu Wikipedia

Dear friend,

You seem to be an active Wikipedian from Pakistan. We have an Urdu Wikipedia that needs all the help that it can get. Currently, we do not have many active users and we will really appreciate if you would consider becoming an active contributor. As you are already familiar with Wikipedia's style and rules, your presence would also help elevate the overall content quality.

Hope to see you soon at Urdu Wikipedia

A tag has been placed on User:Brainlara73 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it contains a gallery in the userspace which consist chiefly of fair use or non-free images.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. To our newest Rollbacker

I have just granted you rollback rights because I believe you to be trustworthy, and because you have a history of reverting vandalism and giving appropriate warnings. Please have a read over WP:ROLLBACK and remember that rollback is only for use against obvious vandalism. Please use it that way (it can be taken away by any admin at a moment's notice). You may want to consider adding {{Rollback}} and {{User rollback}} to your userpage. Any questions, please drop me a line. Best of luck and thanks for volunteering! :-) wadester16 17:27, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Dr. Anwar Naseem.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

Fair use rationale for File:Tareekh-e-Jhelum Book Cover.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tareekh-e-Jhelum Book Cover.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 16:59, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Nosheen Idrees002.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Proposed deletion of Soldier Arcade, Jhelum

The article Soldier Arcade, Jhelum has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication how this is notable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hello,

Just to say thanks for the Barnstar ;-) Pahari Sahib 09:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on KDC Boards (Pvt) Ltd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies.

Tehsils vs cities

Hi Brian! I have recently been creating templates to connect the tehsils together but have noticed alot of inconsistencieis betwene seperate tehsil articles and merged ones. Might I suggest we make sure every article on a tehsil is seperated from the main city seat? You are a great cricketer BTW lol. Himalayan 15:56, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

OK, well we can all work on them gradually, no pressure. I am in the middle of creating tehsil templates so they can easily be found. I have noticed though we barely have any tehsils for Balochistan most of them are stubs about the cities but not tehsils! Shame we haven't got an up to date source with data a about tehsils, the 1900 Indian report is rather dated... Himalayan 16:57, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good, but please don't redirect any to the town. Pahari Sahib 11:13, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I meant doing this Pahari Sahib 15:49, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, it is MUCH better having seperate articles to avoid confusion... Himalayan 10:29, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I've finished making Template:Tehsils of Balochistan but you may want to check for errors, (some confusing articles also listed "sub tehsils". I've also noticed that maps such as File:Balochistan administrative1.PNG display tehsil divisions so potentially we could make own tehsil locator maps highlighting the relative one. Himalayan 13:02, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, just a heads up, in English we don't tend to place the generic name before the name, it generally comes afterwards so it wouldn't be "village Wagh" it would be Wagh village or at least "village of Wagh". Same with rivers it is usually Jhelum River not River Jhelum. Himalayan 16:13, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Sahiwal Division, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Pakistani divisions were abolished in 2000. The only source given for this division is a blog

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Green Giant (talk) 20:22, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

I've replaced the blogsite with a proper ref, some contradictory information on gov.pk about Divisions (not updated correctly) - but news media note the creation of the division in Nov 2008. Pahari Sahib 08:46, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

FG Intermediat College Jhelum Cantt

I have a few points regarding this name:

  • The website you give is an incomplete search facility so the name you want cannot be verified
  • I downloaded the list of affiliated institutions in Word and that gives the name as:
S.No. Name City Area Country Status
48 F.G. Inter College Jhelum Cantt Pakistan Co-Education
  • Why do you want to use the word Intermediat? It should be Intermediate (with a letter e at the end) even if the board and the college spell it otherwise
  • Are there any other institutions of a similar name located in or near Jhelum or Jhelum Cantt?
  • If so, then we should use Jhelum Cantt. after the name, but only after a comma i.e. FG Intermediate College, Jhelum Cantt
  • If not, then there is no need to specify the Cantt, i.e. just Jhelum will do

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Pakistan. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.
