Spam it is NOT

Why is my Preston North ENd page seen as spam while others' are not? It's not like it's full of adverts, is it?

Thank you for the note

I'm a BGT fan, but--being in the States -- I have to watch on YouTube. I wasn't incredibly familiar with eScala, so I'll defer to you on this one. Sorry for the trouble. S. Dean Jameson (talk) 00:54, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I had never discovered that site, so thanks! I think I still prefer YouTube though, as you can pick and choose which performances to watch, and you can search very easily. I do like seeing the judge interviews and such that ITV has posted. S. Dean Jameson (talk) 15:00, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, am new to the Wikipedia experience and have clearly overstepped some mark. Any suggestions on making a more encyclopedic entry would be welcome...

Thanks for the reply. So was it a question of language used? I would like to re-write something but of course I don't want it to come across as spam. Inspiredminds (talk) 15:27, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry to have offended you. I changed it to see what the response would be and whether it was something which I could suggest be changed on the whole site. I wasn't about to go through and change hundreds of articles. You say I ignored your request: I offered an explanation as you asked, how is that ignoring your request? OK, perhaps I should have explained at the beginning, but surely you changing it back would mean that you are also vandalising Wikipedia as you are constantly undoing someone elses work? Why don't we agree to leave it and see if anyone objects, then I shall bring it up on the talk page if someone else (i.e. not you or me) objects to it. I am going to do it on the wikilink anyway. 86.153.22.238 (talk) 18:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Not Cool

I put the score in italics, which is a way to show that the game is still going on and this is the present score. This has been done by me and thousands of others on wikipedia for years in football matches. When the game goes final, you then take away the italics. look at the euro 2008 knockout page while the game is going on tomorrow and you will see that the score is in italics.EJ791 (talk) 00:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)EJ791

I understand its not a news site but there is a differnet between a news report and updating a live event. People may want to see what the score is or how its going because other sites are inaccurate: for example, i watched the Jamaica vs Bahamas wcq game today live on tv and updated the goal scorers and correct times of goals. On both espn and fifa.com, they had at least one of the times or scoreres listed incorrect. I'm not posting my opinion up there, like "Great goal by Shelton to the upper ninety." I'm simply posting a fact about a match. Once a goal is scored, its not going to be taken away. And, if the average wikipedia user does a little investigative work and clicks on report, they will see that fifa shows the game as in progress and they can also look at the standings table and see that the game isn't included in that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EJ791 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Thats legitimately ludicrous. It's not a race to inform people, its just to inform people. I don't care if someone adds it before me as long as its there. If a goal happens, people should know about it, and it should be stated with only facts. Saying the score and goal scorer at a time is fact! If the score changes, then change the page, and don't finalize it til the game is final. I don't mean to be rude, but the strictness of people like you on wikipedia makes me crazy. I'm not adding something that is untrue or can't be verified. I'm not making a page for my dog. Who cares if I update the score during the game, as long as it doesn't say the score is 37-0 with goals scored by poopface. If the information added is accurate, it shouldn't be an issue. I will continue to upate these events on inform people on whats going on because a. your reasons are absurd and b. I know that I have friends who check wikipedia for soccer scores because it is more reliable than many other sites. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EJ791 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

MusicMaster

Can you give me a little more feedback? I've added as many third party links as exist, and I've wikified every proper noun that I can think of that has a page of wikipedia that's relevant to the content. I didn't write this to be biased. I'm just a software user and I wanted to contribute to wikipedia by writing about something I know about that wasnt on wikipedia before. I don't know what else to do to make this better. Please help, this is my first wiki article! Gofordoi (talk) 21:09, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok, that makes sense about PC. I'll look for more of those mistakes. Thanks for your help. Gofordoi (talk) 21:47, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Blackpool

Hello there Tangerine lad.

A few additions for the Blackpool page.. as you know its Veterans week 2008.. but there is no mention of it on the page seeing as Blackpool is the venue for the celebration/rememberance!?

And there is no mention of the Blackpool Regiments who during WWII became some of the first Japanese POW's.... Also the fact that Blackpool was during the war the biggest recruitment centre in Europe with over 2 million servicemen/women (mainly Airmen) being based in the town and surrounding areas... And there is no mention of Talbot Rd bus station being utilised as a Wellington Bomber factory during the war.--92.234.248.31 (talk) 16:28, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Aye no problem as to providing sources Tangerine, though.. I may have to re-read a few books to get the correct citations.. give me a couple days kid. All the best.--92.234.248.31 (talk) 16:51, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Aye it was me amendended the Donaldson page... I was at St Tom's/All Saints with Donaldsons younger brother... and they were both raised in Poulton not Blackpool. If being dropped in the Vic makes you a sand'grown'un then so be it lol...

Anyways.. I'm based in the NS (Squirrel).. Give us a shout if you fancy a bevvie and a chat ay..

All the best --92.234.248.31 (talk) 17:11, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Prod removals

Could I ask you to reconsider the removal of the prods on West Lancashire League clubs based on the following:

I don't really want to go through an AfD if it can be avoided. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 21:39, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you might have forgotten about this. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:36, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
OK, but I remain unconvinced so I'll be AfD'ing them anyway. Sorry, пﮟოьεԻ 57 17:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll probably put it to AfD by itself as it's better referenced than the others. However, based on the outcome of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/White Ensign F.C. it may well be deleted too. The main thing I'm dubious about is whether mentions in local papers count towards notability - I could probably write an article on a Sunday league team and reference it to my local paper. Anyway, we shall see. пﮟოьεԻ 57 19:48, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
