Audio sample

[edit]

Hi, could you make an audio sample of the song "Childhood" so that I can add it to the Scream/Childhood article. Thank you. — Realist2 20:52, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also one for This Time Around (Michael Jackson song) would be nice as I'm working on that song soon. — Realist2 20:55, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. — Realist2 13:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, on HIStory/Ghosts I had to remove your audio sample for HIStory because you used the original 1995 version not the 1997 version. To avoid reader confusion we really need to use the remix. Cheers. — Realist2 23:01, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So, uh... should I leave it like that or add the remix? And btw, can't a caption or something just be added for the original version to give the readers a clue? TehRandomPerson (talk) 23:21, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the old one, so just add the remix if you can :-) I'm not sure what your saying in the secong part of your response, could you make that a little more clear (my bad English). — Realist2 00:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant was instead of having the title of the audio sample be "HIStory", it can be changed to "HIStory (Original 1995 version)" or something like that, to let the readers know which version it is. TehRandomPerson (talk) 00:38, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I get you! Yes that would be good, the remix version should also be in the article so readers can see the contrast. — Realist2 00:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Michael Jackson - This Time Around.ogg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Michael Jackson - This Time Around.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this bot notice you got. That was because I redirected "This Time Around" back to the album. There wasn't enough reliable information from reliable sources to justify an article for it. Thus I added all the important info to HIStory including the audio clip. It shouldn't be deleted now. Regarding the audio clip for "This Time Around", could you make a new version please. In artistic terms it is an important song, Jackson says "shit" in it and there is the aggressive rap by notorious BIG. These aspects of the track are much more important. Could you try to get these aspects of the music into the clip please. Cheers. — Realist2 14:44, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't suppose you could do an audio sample for this? Great song, I'm working hard at it. I was thinking maybe the instrumental portions of this song would be good? — Realist2 15:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why would you want the instrumental portions? I always thought the most important parts were to vocals. TehRandomPersontalk 23:54, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ow, nice signature ;-). Vocals are not always the most important aspect. Remember, Michael Jackson is more than a singer. He's also an instrumentalists, arranger and producer. These are important aspects of Jackson that we also want to show off. We could have some vocals in there as well, but this song has really good background sounds that really shows off the complexity of the song. It would be nice to show them to the reader. — Realist2 00:47, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There. I made a sample with part of the instrumentals and singing. If you're not satisfied, I'll gladly change it. TehRandomPersontalk 03:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, cheers. — Realist2 08:41, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't suppose you could alter the audio clip here? To something a little more climatic towards the finally of the song? Apparently Jackson was more involved with the closing quarters of the song. — Realist2 18:39, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aren't most of his songs like that, when the "finally" of the song is more climatic? TehRandomPersontalk 02:05, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I forgot about this, don't worry the audio clip has since grown on me actually. I was wondering, are you any good at uploading images, images of music videos, under WP:FAIR USE? — Realist2 13:28, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess so. Though I don't see why I should worry about that since anyone can create image files. TehRandomPersontalk 20:01, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone except me, seriously, I've made 29,000 edits to this place but can't upload images, you would be surprised how asking "anyone" for help with a Michael Jackson article doesn't get a reply... — Realist2 22:01, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, is there a reason why you can't upload images? TehRandomPersontalk 07:15, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If I could do it properly I won't be nagging you. I think I've uploaded 3 images correctly in my life and they were only ok because I made them. Others were just deleted. I don't bother these days. Anyway don't worry, if you want to just stick to audio samples that's cool. If you do have a change of heart we could really do with images for the HIStory singles. Later. — Realist2 13:03, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Michael Jackson - Heal the World.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Miley Cyris audio samples

[edit]

I'm so sorry to bother you, but I saw in your page that you mainly add audio samples. Don't mean to sound pushy or anything, but could you please upload an ogg sample for Miley Cyrus songs, if you can. Please let me know which ones you can and please respond. Thank you so much for your time. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 00:09, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my god, thank you. I cannot thank you enough, ummm... I don't want to burden you with too much. What about "The Climb", "Hoedown Throwdown", "Ready, Set, Don't Go" and "Send It On"? Is that O.K.? Thank you so much. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 21:54, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uhhh, I feel so bad, but can you please upload four more samples... Let's Get Crazy, I Miss You, Breakout (has a defunct one), and Butterfly Fly Away. I'm sorry if this seems pushy. If you can, thank you. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 04:23, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Michael Jackson - Ghosts.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Michael Jackson - Ghosts.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
