Stone City (game)

[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Stone City (game), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Stone City (game). If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. TigerShark 12:22, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TheListUpdater. No need to get upset. I deleted it because I determined it to be a non-notable organization. Please take a look at WP:Notability to see if Mouse Surplus does indeed meet those criteria. If it does, I suggest you recreate the article with the assertion of notability clearly stated. If you need to work on the article in chunks, create a user subpage (e.g. User:TheListUpdater/Mouse Surplus), and move it to article space when you are ready. Let me know if you have any questions. --Fang Aili talk 22:15, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you would like the previous article's content made available to you, don't hesitate to ask. --Fang Aili talk 22:16, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apology accepted. I moved the info to the above link. Cheers! --Fang Aili talk 01:12, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am moving this article back to PlayStation, as the "PlayStation X" name was only used during development. --Lumina83 02:54, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PowerSchool

[edit]

I noticed that on May 26, you removed the names of awards that PowerSchool has won, as well as removing the POV and advertisement tags at the top of the page. I replaced these tags because the page still seems to read like an add. Just letting you know... (I didn't change your edit at all, however) --Phantom784 02:59, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You could {{prod}} it or send it to AfD. It's not speediable. Let me know if you need help. --Fang Aili talk 13:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:WTCmall.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WTCmall.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:09, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Sure i can do that, but I'm wondering why and if you should do that. If you move Virtual Console (Wii) to Virtual Console, it will create quite a few double redirects. And its name seems ok the way it is--just a thought. I'm going to bed but I'll be online tomorrow. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 05:55, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, MacHack (chess), was selected for DYK!

[edit]
Updated DYK query On December 29, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article MacHack (chess), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Can I please invite you to accept the well-meaning advice of lots of experienced editors and withdraw you RfA? It will not succeed and withdrawing now will probably stand you in better stead when you stand again in the future. --Dweller 11:54, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I regret to say that I have closed your RfA early as per WP:SNOW. I have included a summary of the opinions cast in my reason for doing so, which was essentially 'get some more experience before trying again'. You have been very brave in putting yourself in the spotlight here after so short a time of editing WP. Most people wait between six-to-twelve months before trying for an RfA and they are not alway successful either. Strategies for improving your profile for another RfA include:

  1. contributing effectively to articles. This includes finding references and citations for facts in reliable sources, something that is essential for an encyclopedia.
  2. Working on the Good Article Drive, Good Article Collaboration of the week and the Article Creation and Improvement Drive.
  3. Patrolling the New pages and Recent changes special pages for vandalism; tagging the pages according to the criteria for speedy deletion and warning the vandals.
  4. Reporting repeat vandals for admin intervention.
  5. Joining a Wikiproject or finding a portal on a subject in which you are interested and contributing through that.
  6. Assisting at the Help and Reference desks.
  7. Welcoming new users.
  8. Becoming adopted or, when you are more experienced, adopting new users to assist them in learning about Wikipedia.

These are just some of the ideas for making effective contributions to the project. You can also see Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for more ideas. Regards and good editing, (aeropagitica) 17:28, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My Sims

Not only that, but after it's been shown that the DS is one of the best places to put a Sims title after the number of copies it sold on the DS in both NA and Europe. - A Link to the Past (talk)

  • I appreciate your passion but I actually meant if this gets closed as Keep, I would argue to get the BK closure overturned and the article restored. Nice try on getting indignant, though. We all love the wikidrama. JuJube 22:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NP list

[edit]

Being sourceable doesn't make it not listcruft. And the fact is that I was in a previous situation doesn't matter. You WERE just trying to be right - even knowing that it's on the DS, you respond not with "oh, alright", but with "well, I won't allow it on Wikipedia without a reference!" The statement was completely unwarranted, especially considering that you didn't admin you were wrong in this situation, but tried to keep it as a dispute.

But on-topic, a list of prizes from NP is not necessary to the Wikipedia article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

[edit]

I decided that I should apologize. While I did not intend to offend you, I DID offend you. Again, it was not my intent to offend you - it's just a force of habit to make such statements. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:57, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello TheListUpdater, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:The Mall at the World Trade Center after collapse.jpg) was found at the following location: User:TheListUpdater/The Mall at the World Trade Center. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 00:46, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Simtropolis deletion

[edit]

It has come to me and others attention that you are promoting the AFD of this article at Simtropolis itself to gain keep votes [2]; another user has added a notice to this AFD noting this. Though it is off site, please review WP:CANVASS. Camaron1 | Chris 16:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice you are keeping a copy of the article Simtropolis at the above location. Be-aware of the following:

  • Fair use images are not allowed in the user space; all three of the images in Simtropolis are fair use - I would suggest you replace them with links to the images. If the article Simtropolis is deleted all the images with it should be deleted as well unless they get used by another article in the main-space. Please review Wikipedia:User_page#Images_on_user_pages.
  • The user space should not be used to keep back-ups or copies of deleted or existing articles, unless it is been used like a sandbox to generate new content. Please review Wikipedia:User_page#Copies_of_other_pages.

I am telling you this to prevent you future problems, pages like this frequently end up on WP:MFD. Thanks. Camaron1 | Chris 18:48, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added both images on the page as orphaned fair use images awaiting deletion. They are no longer used in any article, so due to their fair use status they should be deleted. They should not been used in the user space anyway - but I am leaving it to you to remove them if you think it is sensible. Camaron1 | Chris 15:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TheListUpdater. I hope you don't mind that I subst'ed the stub template on your user page and removed the category link; I did this so that your page doesn't turn up in a category of articles for editors to expand.

AfD nomination of Post Oak Mall

[edit]

Post Oak Mall, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Post Oak Mall satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Post Oak Mall and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Post Oak Mall during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Orphaned non-free media (Image:PostOakMallProof.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PostOakMallProof.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:50, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PostOakMallProof.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PostOakMallProof.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:01, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Livonia Mall

[edit]

Hi there, is there a knowing source that Kresge shut down at the Livonia Mall in 1976? Other sources say 1987. Thank you. Cosmona (talk) 22:51, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I restored it there. Please note, however, that you need to address concerns previously raised in the AFD before moving it to namespace, otherwise, it could be speedy deleted. Yonatan talk 13:15, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Epicenter Collection, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 15:46, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It might be a good idea to get it back into 'working status', if you choose. You might want to find out why it is notable, if it is at all. Kannie | talk 19:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Post Oak Mall

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Post Oak Mall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Parisian.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Parisian.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:59, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
