Hello, The Navigators, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:40, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

E-mail for permission

Hi, did you read WP:PERMIT? try permissions-commons@wikimedia.org By the way your signature should be pointing to your user and talk page, not an article you made! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:42, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Might you be able to cite a reliable source for the information you've recently added to this article? Thanks. Adambro (talk) 22:35, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Covered Carriage Truck BR 94300.png

Thanks for uploading File:Covered Carriage Truck BR 94300.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 01:15, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your edits, including [1]. Could I draw your attention to WP:SEEALSO and WP:LAYOUT; the name of the heading you are probably after is "See also", and it should be placed above any "References" section. —Sladen (talk) 06:01, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome, Thanks for the tips, and links. (Wish I had thought of using a Class 73 for Amtrak's replacement for the FL9s, I could have been rich.)--The Navigators (talk)-May British Rail Rest in Peace. 06:07, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Traffic Officers.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Traffic Officers.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 21:20, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Non Free Images in your User Space

Hey there The Navigators, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot alerting you that Non-free files are not allowed in the user or talk-space. I removed some files that I found on User:The Navigators/SBC Communications. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use images to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of images removed today here

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 02:06, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Re this edit summary; yes there is a reason. You are not permitted to display non-free imagery on userpages, such as this one. The image File:SBC Communications logo.svg is a non-free logo. Per WP:NFCC #9, which is policy, the use of such images outside of the main article namespace is not permitted. I've reverted your re-addition of this logo to that userpage. Please do not re-instate it again. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:25, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
  • There is no allowance in the policy for development articles. It simply isn't allowed. We do not permit the use of non-free images outside of the main article namespace. There is no wiggle room. There's no "ok, you have one week" allowance. Nothing. Last month, I proposed such a deviance in the policy, and it was not accepted. See Wikipedia_talk:Non-free_content/Archive_44#Non-free_images_on_sandbox.2Fuserspace_developing_articles. I have removed this logo from the development page again. If you reinstate it, it will be counted as vandalism and dealt with as such. You are aware of the policy. You are aware there is no allowance for development articles. You have two choices; (a) continue to develop the article with the logo commented out, and uncomment it when you go live, which holds with policy, or (b) restore the image in violation of policy with the expectation of being blocked until you agree to abide by this policy. Your choice. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:21, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Please note my comments on my talk page regarding the lead if you haven't seen them yet. Adambro (talk) 19:21, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Covered Carriage Truck BR 94300.png, which you've sourced to Roger Marks. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages.
