I am simply trying to make the process entirely transparent. In any case, I used Twinkle to run the AfD, which automatically notifies the creator - that is hardly influencing a vote, since I'm going to assume the creator would want the article kept. No, do you want to be the first to have problems, though? Anywho! Go to special:preferences, fill in your email addy, click save. It'll send you a confirmation email with a link, click that. Now, while anyone could email you something now (as you've made your email public and all, but hopefully they won't dig very well) anyone can mail you from within Wikipedia once that's set by going to special:emailuser/Therequiembellishere ... and they won't know what your email is. The importance of Woodstock is that it was the 'family borough' Lord Randolph had been member and from 1832 (when the seat was reconstituted after the Reform Act) till 1876 it was held by either a member of the Churchill family or their nominee. I wasn't aware of any significance to the others, if it is absolutely imperative, then sure. However, I feel that a simple place and country should do because if you want to get more specific the smaller division almost always shows the larger division it is part of. president/prime minister

Serbia unlike Russia for an example has no connection between the president and the prime minister so it is a mistake to add that information into infobox. It is OK in a pure presidential system where President appoints the PM but it makes no sense in here. --Avala (talk) 18:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

See Chen-shui bian and Bruce Golding's talks for the two most drawn arguments as of late I've had. Boris Tadic had a problem exactly like this and Avala (I believe that's it) reneged after ignoring my offer to discuss it for quite some time and found that it has become the standard not to show the person's order. As an American, I can say that one of the reasons I am an Anglophile is due to the United States and its stubbornness to use spellings, punctuations, grammar and vocabulary improperly and its peoples' arrogance to think that because they are big, they can have their own way, despite the rest. Pokemon titles?

I made some changes to the Pokemon anime films page to reflect the actual American DVD titles. I think the titles you're showing are the titles for the main feature included in the DVD. This doesn't really help anyone FIND the movies though! Why not use the DVD titles? How about at least including a separate column with the DVD titles? Raul Castro

Hello There (no pun intended). Raul Castro assumed office on February 24, 2008 (i.e. assumed Presidency). He did not assume office in 2006, he only assumed the powers & duties of the office in an 'Acting' capacity. Simply put (and no offense), your edit version is 'too' confusing & misleading. Well I am not as easily put off by constant reversions as some others. The box is titled "President of Cuba". On what date did Raul Castro become President of Cuba? On 24 February 2008. This seems very elementary to me. The fact that he was acting president from September 2006 should be noted, and it is noted. But he did not become President then. Fidel Castro was President then, and remained so until 24 February 2008. If you persist in reverting to the erroneous date I will take whatever steps are open to me to have you desist. How many edits I've made is immaterial. (Actually I've made many thousands of edits since 2003, under other names.) What is material is that you persist in reverting to a version of this article which is clearly false (stating that Raul Castro became President of Cuba in 2006), and have refused to respond to the efforts made above by me and GoodDay to discuss this matter with you. Hmm, well, the reverting of their edit may have irritated them to the extent that they vandalised your user pages, I've had it happen to me as well. I wouldn't label their edit to the article as vandalism, however the edits to your userspace were. You can warn users by using these templates, but I woulnd't recommend you mark their article edits as vandalism, unless they become clearly vandalistic. Thank you, BHG, I'm glad you agree with me for once! This is nothing like the President of the Executice Council/Taoiseach debate, it was a completely new office. Btw, *I* didn't add the order no to the Presidents of Ireland infoboxes but since De Valera through Robinson have them, McAleese's infobox should be consistent with the other articles in the series. You know it makes sense!

No, I specifically said that once it had sufficient recognition, it would be added. I didn't respond because it didn't show anything and thought your computer had an error. If you've actually read the Ahearn page, you'll see exactly why the Canadian, Australian and American pages are the way they are: because the majority of them are stubborn and that's the simple truth. I've narrowed it to Harriet Harman because of the deputy position in Commons, Alister Darling because (from my point of view) he seems to be the next most powerful minister and Jack Straw because of his new, prestigious positions and how most of us thought he was actually given the Deputy PM and First Secretary of State position. There is currently no Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom - there's no constitutional requirement for one. Harriet Harman is the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and would become Acting Leader if anything were to happen to Gordon Brown. 11th Taoiseach

I notice you edited out my insertion of the sequence number of Brian Cowen as 11th Taoiseach. Mr. Cowen is the 11th Taoiseach. While the number is never used in referring to the office holder it does indicate the number of office holders. The number is used in the articles referring to pervious holders of the office. I appreciate that you are only trying to be correct. I feel however that in the spirit of being an encyclopedia it is ipmortant to insert the number. For example most of the world knows that George Bush is the 43rd President of the United States in the same spirit a reader should know that Brian Cowen is the 11th Taoiseach of Ireland. I looked at the discussion on Bertie Ahern and I have to suggest that in general discussion it might be better to acknowledge that Mr. Cowen is the 12th Head of Government but to list him in the infobox as the 11th Taoiseach as he is the 11th person to hold the title. Also to follow the line of argument logically Mary Mc Aleese would not be the 8th President of Ireland because there were a number of Governors General during the time of Saorstát Éireann. EII succession boxes

I'm confused about the dates in the succession box issue. I've seen other pages with succession boxes that include full dates. Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz

Rulers.org is calling him the "Chairman of the High Council of State" and this French Mauritanian Agency of Information literally translates the title as "President of the High Council of State" but both "president" and "chairman" translate into "président". Hi Therequiembellishere, I used the "compare" feature to examine your edit to Prachanda yesterday and it appeared to show you deleted substantial amounts of key new text and a new reference. These included the text that the subject is prime minister and where he was born. It would have been somewhat more difficult to separate out and copy-paste anything of merit that you also did in the edit, especially since there were other intervening edits to deal with to repair the damage, such as the link to a new foreign language entry (which I *did* separate out and copy-paste). I didn't notice your infobox work among all the other red showing in the edit. I would have been more careful if you had commented your edit. I would recommend you comment your edits, because it makes it easier for other editors to understand what you are doing. DanielM (talk) 12:29, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Acting presidents.

Re [9]. Every time the South African president leaves the country (and Mbeki was often criticized for all the times he went abroad), someone becomes acting president. Off the top of my head this includes Buthelezi (like User:Zaian pointed out in the history log), Mlambo-Ngcuka, Manuel, Zuma, Skweyiya, Matsepe-Casaburri... This is not what the president infobox is for, and it's too trivial on its own to be mentioned in someone's encyclopedia biography. See also #Israeli presidents. -- Jeandré, 2008-09-26t10:07z

I haven't seen any pages prescribing a specific portfolio to Lord Drayson other than "Minister of State, Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills" other than a single page of the BBC which referred to him as "Minister of Universities and Skills", which I've been using. I found the appointment in a list of recent ministerial appointments from the Guardian both online and from the actual printed newspaper. But I have discovered there is a BBC News Article on Paul Drayson's appointment following the Ministerial Reshuffle of Brown's government and here is the link: [10]. UK Cabinet list

I have corrected the order again. There is no official order, but there is a conventional way of ordering them - with the four great offices of state first, then the Lord Chancellor, then the Lord President, then the Lord Privy Seal, then the Secretaries of State in alphabetical order by department, then the other offices (Minister Without Portfolio, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, etc.). Unless you can come up with a good reason for Wikipedia not to follow convention, then stick to this order. In case something is said about Rt Hon, I'd say the justification for leaving those is that someone can be part of Cabinet without taking the title initially, but upon being sworn-in to Cabinet, they immediately take the PC suffix. Therequiembellishere (talk) 19:57, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Right. Not everyone on the Cabinet/attending Cabinet (i.e. those lists Brown Ministry and Current cabinet) is on the Privy Council. Therefore we use "The Rt Hon" (which by the way is The Rt Hon) for commoners (and for peers who have it anyway), and "PC" for peers, so you can see which are counsellors. On the list of current members of the British Privy Council, we use neither because one can absolutely guarantee that they all are counsellors, but on these lists, we cannot. Therefore we use full styles. Which means it's "The Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP" and "The Rt Hon The Lord Mandelson PC". Either that or we go to "Gordon Brown" and "Lord (or even Peter) Mandelson". Template:GW Bush cabinet

I like the first one because it shows the office and it's holder, which matches the other templates (they would have to be updated to the new formatting). Attorney General would be moved to the secretary section because it's equal to them, though. And I know that National Security Adviser isn't a Cabinet post but close to it. I removed Dubya from the template for reasons explained in the Talk page. I'd appreciate some kind of rationale on that page before unilaterally reverting my edit. I've removed POTUS again and don't want to get into an edit war over something as minor as that; given that the whole template will be revamped in two months … but precedent should certainly be set. The rule is not a license to revert three times in a 24-hour period, but is an electric fence meant to stop the most egregious edit-wars. The problem is not reverting more than three-times, but edit-warring, so please don't edit-war. To avoid it, simply don't revert, but discuss the dispute as civilly as possible on the talk page. Involve other editors via a third opinion or request for comments and try to find a consensus. Since this is a low-traffic template, I've simply protected it for the duration of the dispute, which I hope will be brief. I just re-read it and it says, "The Seimas intends to vote for Kubilius' candidacy for the post of prime minister on Thursday. The 15th Government will start working after the Seimas approves the programme of the Government and ministers will make an oath." It sounds like the Thursday vote officially designates him Prime Minister, but his term doesn't being until they green light his Cabinet and swear him in. The headline itself only say the president has nominated him, not that he's the designate yet. This sounds like the similar problem with Barack Obama in that he is the "president-designate" until 12 December when the Electoral College formally vote and he becomes the "president-elect". AFAIK, it's the same as in Slovenia, Haiti and many other countries -- parliament first votes on the PM, who immediately takes office upon being approved in parliament, then the PM has two weeks to get his government together, which is approved in a separate, second vote... Aguamenti POV

POV? Surely, as much as the former one, deriving the aguamenti from aqua + mention (meaning reference, to speak about something), where is the source for this nonsense? Referencing the water? Is this the real meaning of Aguamenti spell? ROTFL. The current version gives us a footnote: D P. Cassell's Latin Dictionary. New York, New York: Wiley Publishing, Inc., 1968. But the question is not about the etimology of mention here (everyone knows, where mention comes from), the question is the suggested etimology of Aguamenti spell. This dictionary-reference is totally useless here, if the dictionary is not a Harry Potter Dictionary with verifiable sources (Cassell's work is certainly not a HP-dictionary, is it? ;). POV? The current version is surely POV, without any source, and not a clever one. The possible aqua + augmentum (water + increase) etimology have some meaning at least, and is linguistically correct. I'm just as unsure. It can't get much worse after Conté, that's certain, but whether it will actually get better and whether we will see free elections... Somehow, I doubt it, but in the last years, UN, EU, USA and regional organisations like ECOWAS have stepped up their efforts to get their feet in the door whenever a dictator dies or is deposed (Togo, for instance), so maybe we'll see a change for the better, after all... —Nightstallion 19:21, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
