Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Greco-Persian Wars—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 14:51, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Battle of Thermopylae. Your edits continue to appear to constitute vandalism and have been automatically reverted.

  • If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place {{Help me}} on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Battle of Thermopylae was changed by Thubgb (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.963355 on 2020-11-13T14:58:54+00:00

I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Suleiman the Magnificent have been disallowed by an edit filter because they did not appear constructive. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page, which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Also feel free to ask for assistance at the Help Desk whenever you like to. Thank you. Pahunkat (talk) 21:21, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is in response to your recent messages on the Teahouse. One in particular indicated that, at least at that moment, you were treating Wikipedia like it was a playground.

Editing Wikipedia requires a certain amount of maturity which, at least at that moment, you are not demonstrating. A small amount of joking around is fine. We even celebrate it on the Main page on April Fools Day every year. But sometimes social banter can go too far. I know you know this because I saw your apology.

I recognize immature behavior because from time to time - not often, but often enough that I notice - I get in "a mental mood" where "in my head" start thinking and acting like I did when I was much younger and much more immature than I am now. I've learned to "hide" it by getting off the computer and staying away from people until I can "re-center" myself. Before I learned the social necessity of "hiding" I embarrassed myself more than once, online and off.

My guess is that either you are like I am when I am "in that mood" or, possibly, you are actually college age or younger.

If you are like me - an adult who occasionally slips into thought patterns appropriate for someone far younger than himself - learn to recognize when you are "thinking like an immature person" and avoid editing during those times. Trust me, it will save you some embarrassment and may prevent a WP:BLOCK.

If you actually are fresh out of high school, then "being relatively immature" is understandable. Just understand that you will get push-back if you don't learn to moderate your editing behavior. If immature behavior is excessive, you may be blocked for not being here to build an encyclopedia or lacking the maturity to do so.

If you aren't yet an adult:

  • Please read this page.
  • If you aren't in high school yet, please share it with your parents.
  • Remember that you are dealing mostly with adults. Edit as if you are trying to fool people into thinking you are an adult. It can be done. I've heard that there are even administrators who aren't adults yet (it takes more than the usual amount of adult maturity earn the community trust required to be an administrator).
  • Don't give out any personal information, including your age. Don't even say that you are still a kid or teenager. Let people assume you are an adult.

In light of your block and the behavior that led to it, please step away from Wikipedia for at least 6 months. Please don't ask for an unblock until whichever is later, 6 months from now or you have the maturity to edit responsibly.
That said, I do hope that day comes, whether it's in 2021 or 2031 or sometime in between. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 01:50, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
