Pink's So What = the word "dance-pop" appeared on the main section?[edit]

Hi, Till. I just want your help, and I'm afraid that User:Widr don't give other editors permission to revert, especially music genres. Pink's 2008 hit "So What" is actually a pop rock song (as in the infobox and composition section), but suddenly the word "dance-pop" appeared on the main section, it doesn't make sense. Thus, I don't think it has "dance-pop" influence, because it has not supported by citation (does not support genre notes). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.171.177.33 (talk) 07:26, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are right - it should be pop rock instead of dance pop. Till 08:46, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Angels with Dirty Faces (song)[edit]

Ok, here's the issue. You're right that "The topics seem to be closely interrelated and relevant", but wrong that this means that NFCC#8 is met. If what you're saying is true, then you would be, for instance, justified in using a non-free image of a dead singer in every article about their music or a non-free image of a dead author in every article about their books- the topics are clearly closely interrelated and relevant. In fact, in most cases, what the singer/author looked like is not going to be relevant. NFCC#8 requires that an image is "used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." The question is this- does knowing what that character looks like significantly increase reader understanding of the topic? No, certainly not. Would readers be unable to understand the article without the image? Yes, clearly. Further, you've added the image to the article again, and again you've not even attempted to write a rationale for the use of the image. I've seen users blocked for doing that. I'm going to remove the image again- while I'm happy to discuss the inclusion, could you please not add it back- the NFCC explain that the onus is on you to demonstrate that the image should be included, and so until you have, it should stay out. J Milburn (talk) 10:13, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We have to use reasonable judgement, and reasonable people may disagree, but in this case it's pretty clear. Sure, someone may never have watched the PG, but this article isn't actually about the cartoon, it's about a song. The fact that you're citing the picture of the Grammy in Cry Me a River (Justin Timberlake song) shows that you really are not clear on what the issue is here. That's a freely licensed image, unlike the one you're trying to insert, and so is not subject to the same, deliberately strict, rules. You're welcome to use free images pretty much wherever and however you like. The case with non-free images is not even close to that. If you had a freely licensed image of the character, I would have no problem with that. If you're keen to have an illustration, you may be able to find a free image of the character's voice actor or of the show's creator. J Milburn (talk) 10:09, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

re: Sample[edit]

Hi, with regard to your post on my talk page, I have fallen away from doing audio samples for about the last year or so. Maybe a little longer. Much of what I was doing involved cleanup of non-standard uploads. I did that heavily for about six months and then sporadically for another year or so, and I have all the tools to do it still, and I don't think I'm totally done with it, but for the last year or so I've been heavily involved with article creation especially with WikiProject Earthquakes. It's been taking all my time, aside from maintenance, on WP. So for now, I will keep it under consideration, maybe down the road. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, there's some discussion on how to do the samples here. Thanks, Dawnseeker2000 01:55, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is fine and thanks for considering. Till 09:44, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re:NFCC[edit]

I'd be inclined to say that both are violations- there's also potentially problems in both articles with excess cover images. Unless the bonus covers are in some way significant in their appearance, their use probably doesn't add significantly to the article, and so they fail NFCC#8. As for getting the images deleted quickly- if you simply remove them from the article, they'll be tagged as orphans and deleted within a few days, providing nobody reverts you. Re:Call the Shots[edit]

Fair- thanks for your note. The lead length isn't the biggest problem in the world, and the Discogs sources (which I did notice) are used only to report that the song appeared on particular releases- a long way from controversial information, so I was happy enough to let it slide. Your reverts of my edits[edit]

I'm trying to work out why you object to my edits, and exactly what "This wrongs the references" means. I presume you objected to me removing the '|publisher=' fields, this is actually done in line with the practice laid down in Template:Citation/doc#Publisher, which states "publisher: Name of publisher; may be wikilinked if relevant. Not normally included for periodicals." Other facets of the edits is the italic rendering of the publications. You will find that the italicisation or otherwise are in line with WP:ITALICS, as well as the styles adopted for each of the publication per their Wikipedia articles. I'd like to understand from your viewpoint how this makes the references "wrong". Regards, -- Ohc ¡digame!¿que pasa? 08:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your "edits" are not fixing the articles at all. Many reviewers at GA are adamant that the references should include the publisher with the work, so no, your removing them is not helping. And the page you cite says that they're normally not included, not prohibited. Till 09:11, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am inviting you to leave me some feedback, 18 months after you opposed my RfA. Do you still believe I am not fit to be an admin? Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. If you don't have time to comment, don't fret it either, this is nothing I'll lose sleep over. :) ☺ · Salvidrim! ·  19:48, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on So Fresh: The Hits of Spring 2012 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ilovechristianmusic (Tell Me Something!) 23:53, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
