Hi[edit]

Yeah was quite busy with school and work....really happy to see that I have very good friends here...thanks Dinesh Cyanam 02:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: WP:Cricket[edit]

Thanks for the warning. I had just come to the conclusion that he wasn't going to listen after his last response. JPD 14:26, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think he raised valid concerns. no need to dismiss someone. I think you told him to add family info when you should lead by example. Steven Fitter 11:49, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Stop talking behind my back. I am not a troll. I was raising a legitimate point. Doesn't mean you have to ignore me. 210.56.64.239 12:21, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Some time ago we had a discussion about RfAs which are obviously going to fail. The compromise we reached was to try and change the transclusion of the RfA page to a simple link. This way, voting and comments can continue, without cluttering the main RfA page. Unless you have another reason for not doing so, I will go ahead and revert your change to that page. Lord Fred Beauclerk[edit]

Hello, Tintin. The answer is that there were no higher scores before Ward made his 278 but there is a big question mark against Beauclerk's innings. The ACS don't regard that match as "first-class", though I am inclined to think it is marginally first-class given that most of the players were reasonably prolific. The ACS view is that first Small then Aylward then Ward held the record; I think WG was the one to beat Ward.

The argument about which games were first-class and which were not is bound to rumble on and on. --Jack 20:16, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

IP check[edit]

You'll have to ask at the arbitration committee. They have the permissions to check possible sockpuppets. =Nichalp «Talk»= 03:54, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Be my guest! Well, so long as the trivia is not too trivial: the notes on List of Test cricket triple centuries are intended to be a pen portrait of the match context. As you will see, I've added a couple of notes to List of tied one-day internationals already, but I am sure there are lots more. The links to the scorecards also need adding, if you want something to do. Here is the master list: [1].

Hmm - is the list at the right place? We usually say "One-day Internationals" (with rather funky capitalisation). Perhaps it should be List of tied One-day Internationals or Tied One-day Internationals or even Tied ODI or Tied ODIs (like Tied Test). And do we need "cricket match(es)" in the title? With redirects as necessary, of course. -- ALoan (Talk) 17:21, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, please add all of your the notes, for a number of reasons - (i) I only started the article - this is a wiki, so you are quite entitled to add whatever you like; (ii) all of those notes look entirely non-trivial to me; (iii) I was only teasing - I doubt you would add something that was really trivial. -- ALoan (Talk) 10:25, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hello and thanks for your message. Although I am in Tamilnadu for last 6 years, I could not manage to have a working knowledge of Tamil, although I am trying to learn. As such, I am unable to participate in the AfD for this entry. Happy new year. --Bhadani 15:10, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for your message[edit]

Ah yes, we briefly worked on Ravi Shastri's entry - now that was worthwhile, but sorry I didn't finish on that one. I should remark that I was just reading some soccer articles, most of which were written to a standard a 10 year old would be ashamed of. The same cannot be said for cricket, which is covered well, so keep up your good work.--HighHopes 15:45, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for fixing the count in my RfA. Cheers! BD2412 T 16:39, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, Malayaliyanu[edit]

I am very much a Malayali, born and brought up in Cochin. Nice to know that you are a Malayali too. Thanks for the support on the IIPM article. PeaSea 22:23, 5 December 2005 (UTC) P.S: I do not play cricket, only soccer. Ain't that typical Malluish.[reply]

On Pulikkany and Udyogamandal School[edit]

Tintin, You must have seen that I have added AFD tag to two pages - Pulikkanny and Udyogamandal School. I agree with you that it is a little harsh to go on adding AFD template rather than trying to improve on them. But the situation here is different. The above mentioned Udyogamandal School is 2 Kilometers away from my home and I strongly believe that it does not need a wikipedia entry. The person who created the page is a alumnus of the institution. Pulikkanny is also an unheard of place. Chimmini Dam, Kerala Forest Research Institute etc are real places, but far off from Pulikkanny. May be we can keep the article just for the heck of it, but I think it is a waste of valuable server space. BTW I graduated from Government Engineering College, Thrissur, knows a little bit about the places in and around Thrissur (Including Patturaikal) but have not made a page for it. PeaSea 05:23, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you completely w.r.t the Pulikkanny issue. It is a "Bus Stop" on the way to Chalakudi. Now it is difficult to make people in USA believe that. The article may remain in Wikipedia, but it does not deserve to be there.

BTW I am surprised at the contributions you make to WIkipedia. Looks like you have a good chance of becoming an administrator in the near future. I guess that will make you the first Mallu to become one. Am I right?

PeaSea 06:09, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Let us work together for improving Malayalam articles (sad that 100% literacy do not reflect in Mallu Wikipedia). I see that there is another Mallu in the scene (Raghu) and that makes us a team of three. Technically I am a busy man (but practically I am not). Fortunately I spend most of my free time online, which till now was spend reverting IIPM article :( (BTW you are the leader, I am an un-paid worker) PeaSea 17:22, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I am not in India either. No plans to return soon. But that does not really matter. Concerned about books though. I have a friends network which I think I can utilize. Shall we start. PeaSea 23:54, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Boycott[edit]

Tintin, I see you reverted the reference to Geoff Boycott in the Grahame Bilby article. According to cricinfo [2] Boycott did play there in 65-66. -- Iantalk 06:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair call. I didn't think of that. Iantalk 07:51, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the b'day greetings. :) =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:02, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Stubs[edit]

Absolutely. Remove the stub notice from any articles which don't deserve it. I'm just doing it based on length — I can't quickly tell whether there is anything more to say or not. Thanks, Stephen Turner (Talk) 15:20, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Substubs[edit]

Well, it's the IP editor who used to create new articles with 100-odd characters, but now he can't any more because IP editors can not create articles. So there probably won't be too many substubs coming in now. Sam Vimes 20:48, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Although my RfA is not over yet, I figured that since so many people voted before it had been posted, I may as well start thanking people before it wraps up. It'll take me that long to thank everyone who voted anyway! Thank you for your support (and for your prediction of an easy passage; it has also been an emotional one for me) - I'll do my best as an admin to make the reality rise to the level of the dream. BD2412 T 05:04, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an admin now!![edit]

I hereby award Tintin the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar for his efforts in several areas such as the cricket portal and Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/India --Gurubrahma 07:36, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tintin, thanks a ton for supporting my rfa (w/o bothering to read Durin's essay ;)) - the final tally was 50-0-0. You are one of the Wikipedians I admire; in fact, it was you who helped me out during my bungled AfD of History of Dharmasastra (book) with the suggestion that I withdraw that afd (it's a different matter that I bungled the withdrawal too :-p).

I've been wanting to award a barnstar for your multi-faceted efforts but several things came in between. And if you want to become an admin, I'm definite that there wd be a no. of ppl ready to nominate you; if for some strange reason, you want me to nominate you, I'll only be happy to do that anytime in the new year. --Gurubrahma 07:36, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Hi Tintin. Namaskaaram and thanks for the welcome. Raghu 15:57, 8 December 2005 (UTC) My interests are mainly kerala related topics (especially palakkad). Then other things like checking new india related articles. Not interested in cricket at all :-)). I want to contribute to mallu wikipedia but by writing skills are bad and this typing mallu will also be difficult...Have u tried the mallu wikipedia? Raghu 16:37, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ya i see that. --Raghu 02:39, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Awolf002 RfA[edit]

Thank you very much for your support for my RfA. I will do everything I can to justify your trust in me. Awolf002 03:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mera number aayegaa![edit]

I will also grin and laugh when you become an admin and get into unrelated activities like me <g> FWIW, my response to him is [3]. Do you feel WP:DFTT would apply here? --Gurubrahma 15:50, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mandodi Kannan[edit]

Hi,

I am not from North Kerala. And I dont have much information about the person.

Re your congratulations[edit]

Lol, thanks! I was actually (and inappropriately) sort of looking forward to my first user page vandalisation. Maybe now Willy and Boothy will oblige me too ;-) --Kunal (talk) 15:28, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
