Kenshin[edit]

Try searching the journals section of NLA Trove - even if you can't access the articles yourself, you can still glean enough bibliographic detail for promising articles to search for them in your own libraries. Also, have you tried all the sources listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga/Online_reliable_sources#Academic? --122.108.141.214 (talk) 00:33, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You should consider joining your national library and state library - they have a lot of publications aimed at librarians that can be useful for people who regularly write about manga. Check out EBSCOhost too - the "Critical Survey of Graphic Novels : Manga" book that's available via EBSCOhost seems to have an article about the series that Kenshin is from. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 00:46, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I found a couple of sources and put them in the main Kenshin article for you - if you can't get access to these through your state or national library, ask at WP:LIBRARY for help. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 06:36, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Source Review Request[edit]

I hope that all of your current projects are going well. I was wondering if you could possibly do a source review for my current FAC? I have fortunately received a lot of feedback on this nomination in only a few days, and it only requires a source review. I apologize for the intrusion, and I understand if you either do not have the time or interest to do it as it is a very busy time of year. Thank you either way and hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far. I would be more than happy to help with your future projects. Aoba47 (talk) 22:26, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tidus' page[edit]

The changes I made to Tidus' page were reverted because Wikipedia allows spoilers. I want to ask whether it is good practice to put major spoilers in the page introduction itself, even though that very piece of information has been properly discussed in a later section of the article? NeutronStar10 (talk) 17:40, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Thank you.

Although, the intro to Lightning's article does not contain a late game spoiler like Tidus' does. NeutronStar10 (talk) 17:58, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, saw Tidus' page today. I feel that the new content is a lot more suitable. :) NeutronStar10 (talk) 10:52, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Book chapters citations[edit]

Good work on finding the book chapter for Allen Walker! Don't forget to check whether a work is an edited volume when you're citing it - the editors aren't necessarily who wrote the chapters of the book and that can cause problems with citations (there's a bit more on this in WP:HOWCITE). I've changed this one to show you what I mean. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 05:16, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mai Shiranui[edit]

I've started a mass cleanup of this character's reception section. I feel it's far too long (15k bytes removed just in one subsection alone) and oversourced, particularly with an excess amount of foreign-language (particularly Chinese) sites that aren't of much use to readers on an English-language article. Then there's the repetitious quotes about either her hotness or her hooters, which is pretty much the backbone of her popularity. I can appreciate the insane amount of work that was put into it, but at the end of the day she's a video game character and not Elvis. Sorry to bug you but I feel more comfortable occasionally dropping a line here about my VG-article machinations. :) sixtynine • speak up • 01:09, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sasuke FAC[edit]

Hey Tintor2,

Do you plan to nominate the article on your own, or do you need a co-nominator? -- 1989 19:00, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for thinking of me when considering nominating Sasuke's article for FAC. I think that the article is very promising, and it helps that the sources that we've been using for the main Naruto article have also apparently been sifted through and used where appropriate in Sasuke's article. There are a few turns of phrase which indicate that the Sasuke article could use a copyedit, and all the citations in Japanese also could use a courtesy translation to English by using the |trans-title field. If you were to nominate for FAC right this second, those would be my main issues. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 23:57, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

N Ship 2[edit]

Hi there. Thought I'd drop by to give you something. While the reception section seems alright, I'd agree the development section is a little thin. But fear not, I've done some work going through the blog, and I'm here to give you translations from the posts by the game's director Yutaka Senko (bottom two) and the producer Yuuki Nishikawa.

  • In this early post, Nishikawa essentially says that the game has been in development since the release of the first Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm title. He also adds that the multiplayer feature was added based on player feedback from the first game.
  • In this one, Senko discusses creating the battle system. In adding new features, it was a matter of trial and error, in addition to balancing all the elements so each character has a fair chance of winning a fight. A cited example is of a fight between young Naruto and Jiraiya, where the staff made adjustments so it was equally fun and empowering playing as either character.
  • In this one, Senko states that he wanted to "recreate" the look and feel comics during the videos and cinematic sequences. This required going through the whole game and adjusting elements to fit this ambition while ensuring the gameplay remained responsive. All the sequences were worked out using storyboards beforehand, then the gameplay elements were created, before the aesthetic and sound design parts were added in.

Hope these help. --ProtoDrake (talk) 10:28, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to find information about Orochimaru (Naruto), a manga character, and its inspiration in mythology, then yes, ask on Wikipedia:Reference desk/Entertainment. Or you can instead ask on some forum outside of Wikipedia, such as Anime & Manga Stack Exchange. If you don't get a good enough answer on one forum, you can try to ask on another forum one or two weeks later, just make sure to put hyperlinks between the question threads both ways so that people don't have to duplicate work already done in another thread. – b_jonas 13:58, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the completely lazy title, but I'm thinking of working on Johnny Cage next. Now could it be editorial oversight on your part? or you didnt just bother to go through the sources provided?? Wikipedia is a collaborative project and any behaviour in sync with WP:OWN is also a feature of WP:NOTHERE and thus totally unaccetable. According to polices and guidelines governing this encylopedia you do not remove nor blank sections to prove a point, see WP:POINT especially when they are sourced or referenced. I noticed, re-occuring pattern of behaviour in your modus operandi pertaining to editing on here. Please do take note. However it may interest you to know that i have opened a section in the talk category of the page and before any adhoc extreme actions are carried out on that section, it is salient a discussion &/ conensus be observed. Celestina007 (talk) 14:13, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Celestina007: I'm sort of driving by, but, like, based on what I can see, it's unfair to accuse Tintor of blanking to prove a point or of asserting ownership. In general, having a "Powers and abilities" section is often seen as too WP:INUNIVERSE for a character article. Any relevant powers and abilities should be integrated into the "Appearances" section. I have reviewed the section and Tintor is correct: at least 60% of the section is unsourced, and it is unwarranted and better integrated elsewhere. Having like six sentences sourced does not make the whole thing sourced. Please see some recently promoted articles of quality: Allen Walker, Yu Kanda, Lenalee Lee, Millennium Earl, Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto Uzumaki. Ability and powers sections ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 14:27, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
TenTonParasol i do appreciate the work both you & Tintor2 have established on the encylopedia but nonetheless we are goverened by polices in this environment.
Now, TenTonParasol you make mention of the section having few citations; well i need not remind you that is nonparaeil to include few citations that best represent a claim or text rather than an ugly citation cluster. see WP:Citation Overkill
Also having a powers and abilities section doesnt impede an articles chance of getting raised to GA status that is an unsubstantiated theory, furthermore it is not about the article rather my concerns relate to the behaviour of the editor. Blanking an entire section or page when it isnt an attack page or a made-up story is improper and we all know that. If it were a new/fresh editor he/she would probably be shaken and permanently quit wikipedia editing.
However on a jovial note i have rectified both problems indicated by Tintor2 The Superman vs Goku Death battle has been moved to the "Appearance section" and more inline citations have been added to the Powers and abilities section. Cheers.Celestina007 (talk) 17:20, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Boruto: Naruto the Movie[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Boruto: Naruto the Movie has been completed.

An issue came up that I could not resolve.

"Manga Entertainment released the movie in cinemas in the United Kingdom on November 10, 2015.[28] The same company released the home media release on June 5, 2017.[29] Licensed by Viz Media, its English language premiere was on February 19, 2017..."

The difference between what was released in English in 2015 and again in 2017 needs to be clarified. I couldn't figure it out from the references.

Also in the Critical response section I moved the following sentence which originally appeared toward the end of the section to the beginning because of chronology.

Prior to the film's release, Casey Baseel of Japan Today said that while fans might be worried the movie would focus on parenting issues, the trailer made it clear it would also focus on a new crisis which might appeal to them more.[36]

I think this is irrelevant and should be left out entirely. But, I leave that up to you.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Copy edit of Naruto:TSHATSS[edit]

Tintor2: I did a requested copy edit on Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring. Here are my notes:

  • Naruto then remembers the time when Sasuke chose to start an important mission in order to protect everyone from an imminent threat. I'm not sure why this sentence is there. How does this fit in to the rest of the plot?
  • She is then teleported along with Shin in the latter's hideout. Could this be "to his hideout"?
  • The three voice actors behind the Uchiha family [...] revealed multiple thoughts about it, with the three expressing happiness at the same time due to the further characterization the characters they voice received. If the "multiple thoughts" they have are important, they should be stated specifically; if not, why mention it at all? Or is this like saying they had "mixed thoughts" about the storyline? Additionally, the "further characterization the characters they voiced" part is a bit awkward. I wanted to be sure about the meaning before rephrasing it. (I was unable to look up the source at this time.)

Please {{ping}} me with your thoughts and I'll try to finish it off. – Reidgreg (talk) 22:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sasuke FA[edit]

Hi, thanks for thinking of me. I think you've done an amazing job with the article, and I think it's very close to FA, given that Sasuke hasn't attracted the same level of critical attention as Naruto has. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can be of any help in this situation. I was able to point out an omission on the first FAC for Naruto, but I would not describe grammar as being my strongest point and I have a major personal commitment starting tomorrow. Maybe Mike Christie could be asked to help with the copyedit? (He did with the main Naruto article.) --122.108.141.214 (talk) 06:34, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your question about extending the time: I know of no time limit of a month for a FAC (seem to remember longer ones), and think the delegates are able to see if an oppose is still valid after corrections have been made. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:51, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've copyedited the critical-response section. Good luck with FA and all the best, Miniapolis 02:10, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really not sure how to best advise you - even if this person does provide you with a trustworthy scan in a timely manner, it wouldn't be admissible as a source without the full and proper citation for it. What you have done on Sasuke's article is to make it a GA with an eye towards becoming FA - which is better than it only just being good enough to become a GA. It can be difficult, too, when the problem is something like "sparkling prose" - which is a matter of taste. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 02:44, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mike. Also, I've been wondering if you could recheck Sasuke's FA nomination since the nominator copyedited it a lot. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:36, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've posted a note at WT:FAC about it; it's not just your nomination that's the issue, it's a general question of how opposes should be handled. I will certainly revisit if a coordinator asks me to. I don't know if I will otherwise. Sorry to be unhelpful this time around; best of luck with the article in the future. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 01:54, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Quid pro quo support[edit]

Hi Tintor, regarding the discussion at WT:FAC about perennial problems, I wonder if I could draw your attention to your quick support at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/All Souls (TV series)/archive1.

The nominator of that article supported your nomination, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Sasuke Uchiha/archive1, and at 23:13, 28 January 2018, asked you to look at the All Souls FAC. You said at 00:33, 29 January 2018, that you would look at it the next day. Less than an hour later, at 01:12, 29 January 2018, you added a "quick support".

That kind of quid pro quo is something FAC has tried to avoid. It's fine to collaborate to improve each other's nominations, but that ought not to become "I've supported you; now go and support me." Otherwise the whole FAC process is pointless, and it puts the coordinators in the awkward position of having to decide whether to overlook certain supports. SarahSV (talk) 22:13, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

SarahSV. I see. I'm not looking for supports but comments on FACs. What kind of bothered me though was the direct opposes that people added over a month of comments which involved prose issues. I don't mind if opposers wanted me to rewrite some parts to make the in-universe information easier to understand but the prose issues are out of my hands. Still, I doubt I might touch another FAC.Tintor2 (talk) 22:33, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Tintor, I'm talking here about your support for All Souls (TV series). You made a "quick support" after someone supported your nom and asked you to look at hers. That kind of "support swapping" makes supports worthless. It means coordinators have to seek other views. So if you do continue to review at FAC, please don't add any more quick supports because someone supported you, or because you hope they will support you. SarahSV (talk) 23:16, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I'll be careful with other nominations. It's just that I wasn't too familiar with tv articles.Tintor2 (talk) 23:19, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you. If you're not familiar with a topic and don't have time to become more familiar, it's best not to comment on it. If someone asks you to comment in exchange for a support, you could say something like "Thanks for your support, but I'd prefer to keep that separate from any reviews I do." And if that means they don't support yours, and you think there's a link (e.g. they've said they'll support but then change their minds), alert one of the coordinators, Ian Rose or Sarastro1.
People who expect "supports for supports" shouldn't be FAC reviewers. But there may be reviewers who believe that it's the norm because they sees others doing it, so it's important that we start telling reviewers that it's frowned on. SarahSV (talk) 23:27, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
