A tag has been placed on Troop 199 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Deletion[edit]

"Boys in the area that can make the drive will want to know more about this troop because there is a reason all of these other boys are going joining this one and Wikipedia is a great start to find that reason" - sorry, that's using us for advertising. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and you would need to show notability (in our sense) for an article. Please see WP:GNG for general notability - I'm not sure what particular category Scout troops come under. I would think you could get something up on AboutUs (free last I heard) where they don't have the notability requirement we do. Or there's always MySpace, Facebook and similar. Status and Advice[edit]

Tom, I had to delete the article: it is extremely unlikely that any local troop of boy scouts is a suitable subject for a Wikipedia article. WP is an encyclopedia, and we include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia.

What is you school project, and who is running it? They should have advised you better; please guide your teacher to our page Wikipedia:School and university projects for some information on how to do such an assignment. I will be glad to assist further--just contact me on my user page or email me from the link there, which will work if you have set up email in your user preferences. We have people in your area also who are ready to help, and I can help you find them.

I am truly sorry to disappoint you-- Wikipedia is in need of new editors. The first step, of course, is to pick a suitable topic--in addition to authors, there are everywhere local politicians such as earlier members of the legislature, who have not yet been written about, and notable local historical buildings. Local libraries will always know of suitable sources for such topics. And, just a reminder to read our guide to writing Wikipedia articles. DGG ( talk ) 19:51, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

btw, I removed your email address and phone number from the top of the p. Whether or not they are your real numbers, thereare not appropriate content. If you wish to be reachable by email from people at Wikipedia, activate you email in user preferences. DGG ( talk ) 20:04, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We only have four unit level articles and those articles establish more than local notability. It looks like you are in Crossroads of America Council)— you could expand that section to a full article. But, you cannot copy content from somewhere else as you did with Scout troop. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 17:41, 4 April 2012 (UTC) [Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting|WikiProject Scouting]][reply]

Scout troop[edit]

The structure of a BSA Scout troop is a bit different from what is common in other Scouting organisations. Such a long section about the BSA Scout troop structure, without writing what is BSA specific and what is not doesn't give a neutral point of view. --Egel Reaction? 18:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
