Paul Jaquays

Not been a lucky month for me lol :¬) just recovering from conjunctivitis so not been around much for the past fortnight.
Anyway, any chance you can take a look at the situation regarding Paul Jaquays (Talk:Paul Jaquays. MoS discussion on italics and any amendments that may have been made to the individual projects style guides regarding italics usage?) Rather than me cause problems with italics removals I thought maybe you would like to copyedit it as you are a member of the D&D project? Chaosdruid (talk) 20:34, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that - as you are a D&D project member I think you can better apply any necessary waiving of MoS :¬)
I did not want to start taking out all the italics just because the projects are not updating their style guides. It would be easier to follow the D&D style guide (as my interpretation of the MoS would make me de-italicise them against the seeming consensus of the project itself), a rock and a hard place lol. Maybe you could have a shot at doing the D&D style guide updates as well?
Anything you need me to do in return? Chaosdruid (talk) 13:29, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

JJJ Images

Hey, myself and another editor are trying to figure out if we can/can't have 3 images of various covers in the Juke Joint Jezebel article. I figured you'd have an opinion, so check it out and see what you think (whether you agree with me or him, this is NOT a recruiting attempt). Current drive participant, again

Thanks for clarifying. Don't mean to be a Pollyanna but noticed that Operation_Day's_Work hasn't really been sufficiently copyedited. In the intro there is "has helped spreading this type of volunteerism" and in the paragraph titled "Denmark" subheading there remains a sentence that ends "students are no longer considered to be truant during this day" when it really should be qualified with "non-participating students are no longer considered to be truant during this day." In addition there are multiple spelling errors in names of countries in the charts that follow.--Aichikawa (talk) 22:18, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive update

Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 backlog elimination drive update

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.

Participation
GOCE May 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

So far, 54 people have signed up for the drive, and 33 are actively participating. If you signed up for the drive but have not participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you have not signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. If you have questions about getting started, feel free to talk to us. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. We currently have 17 articles awaiting edit.

Progress report

We are making slow progress on achieving our target of reducing the overall backlog by 15%; in order to accomplish this goal we will need to complete about 400 more articles. However, we are making good progress on the 2009 backlog, as we have eliminated over half of the articles from 2009 that were present at the start of the drive. Let's concentrate our fire power on the remaining months from 2009; leaderboard awards will be handed out for 2009 articles this drive. Thank you for participating in the May 2011 drive. We hope it will be another success!

Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 backlog elimination drive report

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating!

Participation
GOCE May 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

There were 63 signups for the drive; of these, 45 participated. Although we did not award a bonus for articles from the Requests page this drive, we are not experiencing lengthy delays in getting the articles processed. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.

Progress report

During the month of May we reduced the backlog by approximately 10%, and made remarkable progress on eliminating articles tagged from 2009. There are now only 15 articles left, down from the 415 that were present when the drive started. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 54% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their June drive has started.

Coodinator election

The six-month term for our first tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the second tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. For complete information, please have a look at the election page.

Please feel free to contact any coordinator if you have any questions or need assistance. Your project coordinators are S Masters (talk), Diannaa (Talk), Tea with toast (Talk), Chaosdruid (talk), and Torchiest (talk).

Completely new abortion proposal and mediation

In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.

To avoid concerns that this notice might violate WP:CANVASS, this posting is being made to every non-anon editor who has edited either page (or either page's respective talk page) since 1 July 2010, irrespective of possible previous participation at the mediation page. Do not edit war with the IP editor. There are other ways to deal with that kind of behavior.. - 4twenty42o (talk) 23:12, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

I understand that...but when you re-add the same info he deletes or vice-verse... I also see that what he is doing is purely attempting to push his point of view and own the article. Which will get him cool down blocked if you stop reverting him and let me help. - 4twenty42o (talk) 23:21, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of industrial music bands. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 23:21, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't matter. edit warring is edit warring. See dispute resolution. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 23:25, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

It's a dispute resolution, not vandalism. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 23:27, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

The Beast is correct..I try not to template the regulars when I can be reasonable. But to answer your question. Now that things have settled down the user has been reported to the appropriate venue. I would strongly urge you to become more familiar with WP:3rr and WP:EDITWAR Cheers!! - 4twenty42o (talk) 23:32, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
We have admins here to help us sort out the fine line between guidelines and policies. When everyone follows the rules things actually work out pretty well... They'll decide what constitutes vandalism. Now just let the admins do their job. - 4twenty42o (talk) 23:38, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
What you have there is an excerpt from the guidelines regarding 3RR and edit warring and what is and is not.But what you are failing to realize is that ultimately it is a content dispute and by reverting the user instead of reporting the silliness to AN/I, instead after xx number of times trying to add your content (and re-adding the content the anon removed)you, yourself became party to an edit war. Now, I guarantee you that most of the anon. IP's edits were initially in good faith. But the continued argumentative, unexplained way that things were being handled turned it into a classic edit war (that could have been avoided) once again. I am not upset nor offended by what transpired, nor do I think you were wrong per se. Things just weren't handled properly in my opinion. - 4twenty42o (talk) 19:36, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Progress report

Progress has been less than that needed to meet our target for the drive (which would reduce the backlog by about 400 articles). Remember though, if everyone copy edits one or two articles every day, we will easily meet our goal. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. Reducing the number of articles on this list has been a major success of this drive. Thanks for participating!

GOCE July 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating! Here is your end-of-drive report.

Participation

50 people signed up for the drive, of which 39 participated. Thanks to all who copy edited articles and helped us reduce the backlogs in both the total articles and requests. We offered a bonus for copy edits from the Requests page, and have been somewhat successful in reducing that backlog, as a record 89 new requests were received in the month of July.

Progress report

During the month of July we reduced the backlog by 338 articles, or by about 8.5%. We did not reach our goal of a 10% reduction, but we came close, and did very well considering the small size of the group participating. Since our Backlog elimination drives began in May 2010, we have reduced the backlog by 4,708 articles. End-of-drive results can be found here. We will be handing out barnstars within the next week or two.

Requests page

Please remember that the GOCE Requests page is receiving a high number of requests, with the number of August requests already above three per day. Any assistance to help keep the backlog down would be greatly appreciated.

Our next drive will be in September. We hope to see you there!

The drive will begin on September 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on September 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 backlog elimination drive update

GOCE September 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation

We have had 55 people sign up for this drive so far, and 31 have participated. If you have signed up but have not yet copy edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! It's not too late to join the drive if you have not already done so. Another great way to help out is to watch-list the Coordinators talk page and participate in the ongoing development of the Guild.

Progress report

So far, we have reduced the backlog by 75 articles, or about 19% of our goal. We have also cleared January 2010 off of the queue and are close to clearing off February and March. If each participant were to copy edit two articles from February and March 2010, they would be completely eliminated from the queue.

Rollover words

Several concerns have been brought up this drive about the usage of rollover words. Rollover words only count if they're from the previous drive. For example, if you received 1,000 rollover words in March and didn't participate in May, your rollover words return to zero. This is to encourage participation in multiple consecutive drives.

GOCE September 2011 Backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We would like to thank all who participated in this drive. Here is the end-of-drive report.

Participation

There were 58 editors who signed-up for this drive, of which 42 participated. This is a slight increase from the July 2011 drive participation, where 39 out of 50 people that signed up participated. Thank you to everyone!

Progress report

During the drive, we reduced the backlog by 146 articles, or by about 4%. Overall we did well, especially considering the exceptionally large number of articles that were tagged during September. Thus far we have reduced the copy edit backlog by 4854 articles, or by about 58%. If we keep up our current rate of copy editing, the backlog should be reduced by 65–70% by the end of this year. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here. Barnstars will be handed out this week.

Once again, thank you for participating in the Guild's September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Our next drive will be in November, and we hope to see you there!

good editor

You are a good editor in that you and I see how badly the Obama article is written. Trivial laws, such as the Ledbetter Act may be important to Ms. Ledbetter, but are not integral parts of President Obama's biography. As such, it should be removed. Things like closing Gitmo or Don't Ask Don't Tell are more signature Obama themes. Don't let those bullies ruin the Obama article. BAMP (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors November 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Progress report: We are making great progress in our goal of clearing out the oldest articles (April, May, and June 2010) from the queue. There are 122 articles left in those categories, which compares very favorably with the 281 that were present at the close of the September drive. We have reduced the 2010 backlog by 184 articles so far.

Coordinator elections: The term of our second tranche of coordinators will be running out at the end of the year, and we will be accepting nominations for new coordinators early in December. List of KMFDM band members

So I decided to start this article, just in my userspace for now. Check it out here: User:MrMoustacheMM/List of KMFDM band members. I think you're allowed to edit my userspace if I agree to it, so if you'd like to make any changes or try some ideas please feel free to do so. Or feel free to leave me suggestions and ideas on the article's talk page or my talk page or here (whatever you prefer).

If you do edit the article in my userspace, just undo the last edit and save (so that it will say "Currently being edited" in big red letters on the top of the page, so I don't go and start having edit conflicts...if you see the red "Currently being edited", then I'm currently editing it), and when you're done change it back to big green letters saying "Not currently being edited" and save.

I figure your chart would fit well on this page once the article is sorted out more. I ordered every name chronologically by first appearance, then within each year ordered alphabetically. I somewhat simplified instruments played (for example, some guy played some really specific trumpet, which I just changed to "trumpet"). I wonder if FM Einheit's contributions should be simplified to, say, "noise" for this page.

For now, I picked a few categories to split people up into. A couple end up in the live section and guests section simultaneously (Ogre is one), not sure if that'll work out or if we should distinguish live guest appearances, possibly like this:

  • Ogre (1997, 1997 live, 1999)

I'd like to make this a bona fide article once it's more ready, and specifically once it has some more sources. Whenever possible I'd prefer to use non-primary sources instead of <ref>[album] booklet</ref> or <ref>kmfdm.net</ref>. I'll have a look at adding some sources here in the future, but if you happen to think of any offhand, again, feel free to add/mention them.

Anyway, take a look, have at it if you'd like, and definitely leave me any feedback you can think of. Thanks! MrMoustacheMM (talk) 05:00, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Participation

There were 48 editors who signed-up for this drive, of which 35 participated. Thank you to everyone who helped reduce the size of the backlog!

Progress report

During the drive, we reduced the backlog by 232 articles, or by about 6%. This is a two percent increase from our September drive, when we copy edited 4% of the backlog. We were successful in our primary goal of clearing the oldest three months—March, April, and May 2010—from the queue. Thanks to all who helped copy edit these difficult articles. Thus far we have reduced the copy edit backlog by 5086 articles, or by about 61%. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.
