Orphaned non-free media (File:Crashin' in.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Crashin' in.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:17, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Geograph images[edit]

Hi there. It is preferable that Geograph images are uploaded to Commons. They can be better organised and they are easily available to other projects. It is easy to ensure you provide all the required information by using the Wiki markup provided by the Geograph project. When you find an image to use, click the "Find out how to reuse this Image" link then scroll down to the Wikipedia section and copy the text into the basic upload form on Commons. Regards. Adambro (talk) 13:56, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I note that you uploaded this image and tagged it as available under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. Unfortunately, the Flickr page contradicts this, specifying that it is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic License. This isn't permitted on Wikipedia. Can I assume this was an error on your part or has the licence been changed on Flickr since you uploaded it? Adambro (talk) 14:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It would seem that this issue also applies to File:Southwell workhouse.jpg. Adambro (talk) 14:15, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Images are gone ! Done

A tag has been placed on Roman Party Ave!, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. mhking (talk) 18:28, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Roman Party Ave!, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roman Party Ave!. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Proposed deletion of Civic culture[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Civic culture, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

little more than a dictionary definition

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. License tagging for File:Scott house.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Scott house.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:07, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:BillericaySchoolGraph.GIF[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:BillericaySchoolGraph.GIF. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 16:38, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Josef Perl requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Lists of schools[edit]

Hi, just noticed that you are splitting up the lists of schools articles. Just for information I created, but never got round to completing, a List of schools for Hull may be useful using this rather than creating a new version by just cutting and pasting from the parent article. It will need the missing independent schools adding. The list is loaded into my sandbox, I can move it to article space when ready. Keith D (talk) 17:34, 19 June 2009 (UTC)  Done[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of schools in Derbyshire, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/education/school_tables_1998/england/byLEA830NameIndex.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Incivility warning[edit]

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at John Frawley. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Using edit summaries like "you're worse than some vandals" is a clear violation of Wikipedia policy. Francium, in case you don't have the page on Watch, this is to let you know I've commented there. From what I've seen so far (followed this over from the Kaye v. Robertson nom: which, as an English law graduate, I'm frankly astonished at) I'm not happy about either Chibel's AFD noms nor his blithe reliance upon AGF to bolster them. I'll check it out and, if warranted, take it up further. Plutonium27 (talk) 00:19, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've put the category Category:English privacy law cases into the categories Category:English law and Category:Privacy law. As reviewing administrator I of course removed the tag. An assertion that one is a full professor at a university is enough by itself to pass the very low bar for indication of importance set by WP:CSD. As for actual notability, and a full professor at Cornell would almost certainly meet the standards at WP:PROF, What is needed is a check that you've got all his publication, and then a check to add book reviews of his books. let me know if there are any problems. If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When uploading a chart to Wikipedia, it's helpful for those reusing the chart to know where the statistical or scientific data it represents is sourced from.

If you could provide an appropriate citation for this it would be useful.

Citation of statistical sources is also an academic courtesy :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:47, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your message concering images[edit]

Ask an administrator for advice.

However, in general you should not ask for 'genuine freely licensed' images to be deleted, unless there is something critically wrong with them, like images which are illegal, outside project scope or which (in context) have glaring inaccuracies.

It is better to add as much information as possible, {{information}} can give an idea as to the basics, See my recent attempts at improving information on your uploads, so that the images can be transferred to Wikimedia Commons, Just because it's no longer useful here, doesn't mean it won't find a use on some other project :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:54, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Francium.
I really wouldn't bother deleting the images; we have lots of room, and it's possible that they might be of use one day (even if somebody just snips part of one or something). It does no harm to leave them on the server.
If you do want to delete an image, the simplest way is to go to the image page, click 'edit', and at the top, put an appropriate "CSD Tag" on it. For example, you could put {{Db-f1}} on the first line, on its own. This will tag it for deletion under the F1 criteria, which is;
  • Redundant. Unused duplicates or lower-quality/resolution copies of another Wikipedia file
See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy_deletion#Files for the possible options.
It sounds to me like the main trouble is all the messages on your talk page - so please note, as soon as you've read a message and taken any action necessary (if any), it's absolutely fine for you to either delete the message, or to move it to your archive page (User talk:Francium12/Archive 1). You could also set up your talk page to 'auto-archive' - for that, see User:MiszaBot/Archive_HowTo.
If you need help with that, or anything else, please ask.Either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.

Whilst you may have created the montage, It would be helpful to know the source of the original images used to create it :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:10, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
