File permission problem with File:Letter published in Falkland Times May 1978.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Letter published in Falkland Times May 1978.jpg, which you've attributed to Falkland Islands Times. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 11:24, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Deletion pending for File:Letter published in Falkland Times May 1978.jpg
Hello, Wee Curry Monster. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Letter published in Falkland Times May 1978.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.
- If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
- If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 15:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

The correct response for citation needed tags in the body of the text is not to remove them but to add a cite - as there is large chunks of uncited text it isn't clear where the information is sourced from if at all. Please either restore the tags or add citations - don't edit war to make the article worse.Nigel Ish (talk) 13:48, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- The material is already cited, so I really do not see the need to restore the tags. If I may make a suggestion for future communication, lecturing or hectoring is not an effective means of getting people to agree with you. A further suggestion, if you feel further cites are required you can always do this yourself instead of expecting others to do the work for you. WCMemail 10:42, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- The information isn't cited because there are no cites covering the claims - there may be references that cover it but without an actual adjacent cite it isn't cited. As you are determined to remove the tags it is clear that you do not want that information to be referenced - why is that?Nigel Ish (talk) 12:25, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Would you please stop the antagonistic messages on my talk page. As I said I beg to differ, the information is cited. If it bothers you that much, why don't you place the cites where you think they are required. Why are you bugging me to do it for you? WCMemail 12:46, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

If you are offended at something I had added, breathe, count to ten and assume good faith you like the lie and hate freedom of speech and information.Sergio Pelayes (talk) 15:28, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Don't give a shit, provided it conforms with wikipedia policies and it's sourced to a reliable source and not a WP:SPS like Kohen and Rodriguez. I also usually found that those accusing others of lies and promoting freedom of speech and information have no interest in any of that. Next time, I suggest you avail yourself of the copious information I provide to people posting on my talk page. WCMemail 16:22, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- PS please feel free to avail yourself of recourse to the talk page in the thread I started. You might also are to talk a gander at my archives and note the many Argentine editors I have assisted with information. WCMemail 16:24, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
You say that Marcelo Kohen and Facundo Rodríguez are not reliable. You know what? First, look at yourself in the mirror, because you don't have a better curriculum vitae than Marcelo Kohen and Facundo Rodríguez. Please, feel free to find out the academic and work curricula of both Argentine authors. Also, it has removed a jurisprudential citation from the International Court of Justice I added. Isn't that a reliable source???!!! Feel free to put my addition of that jurisprudence back on the page. There are so many requirements for posting on Wikipedia that they are intended, rather, to serve as a means of censorship of what is inappropriate to post. Res ipsa loquitur. You leave a lot to be desired as a Wikipedian. But don't worry about it because I will not post "sensitive" or "inappropriate" information again.Sergio Pelayes (talk) 19:06, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- WP:OWB When someone complains loudly about censorship, you may be certain they are up to no good.
- Quoting from a review of Kohen and Rodriguez, A history of the Falkland Islands written by lawyers, this undisguised attack on two British historians fails to meet strict academic standards; contains very little not previously explored in depth; and repeats old, long-debunked, fantasies. Examples of their low standards being the use of photoshopped versions of historical documents, use of images without attribution and accusing the objects of their attack of publishing material they were not involved with. Further if we are to allow this self-published source, we would have to for purposes of balance refer to the pamphlet that they claim to respond to and to the rebuttal published more recently. However, as all are WP:SPS its quite simple to simply not.
- And you're beginning to sound very like my long term POV warrior stalker. Regards, WCMemail 07:29, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

'is' or 'are'?
Hi WCM,
I just saw your reversion of my edit of the Falkland Islands page. I'd like to put the case for 'is' over 'are'.
I have posted a question on this on the Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(geographic_names) page to see if anyone else is bothered or just us.
When referring to a territory with a name that is a plural (eg Falkland Islands, Seychelles, Maldives, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Marshall Islands) it is usual to refer to them in the singular, as the territory is a single entity. If the context of the sentence is that you are not referring to the whole territory but the constituent parts (eg 'The Falkland Islands are all beautiful except for Bleaker Island') then it would be correct to use the plural 'are'.
This was a subject of (too) much discussion when I worked for the government of such a territory and this was the conclusion that better-educated people than me came to.
The Wikipedia entry Collective_noun goes into some detail on this and does illuminate the fact that this is by no means clear-cut; the examples involving band names that I was going to use before reading it didn't work! 'The Beatles is playing this weekend.' does not look right.
By the way, Bleaker Island is actually very nice.
Very best wishes, PatLurcock (talk) 15:20, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

ProveIt and Gib
I haven't really got the hang of ProveIt to add citations (rather than just to polish what exists), so if you have time would you describe how you used it to fix that citation at Gibraltar, please? I hate just tagging missing or bad citations if I can resolve them, as I tried to do by searching Archive.org for a copy of the original. No worries if not, I'll try again to make sense of it. [I have the tool installed and have used the "normalise everything" function.] --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 19:49, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- It's a really good tool to use and very simple. Place the cursor where you propose to add a reference, bottom right you should see a "P" icon for the tool. Click on that and select "Add Reference", this brings up the dialogue box, look for the template tab and select the template you wish to use. The next thing to look for is automatic reference, cut and paste the appropriate data in there (it can be as simple as a URL if you're citing a web page), then select load. The tool automatically populates the basic fields for you. When you're happy with the reference, bottom right select insert and you're done. WCMemail 00:22, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

British Empire page
Hello Wee Curry Monster,
I am relatively new to editing Wikipedia articles, and I'd like to ask you to explain your decision to revert the additions I have made to the infobox of the British Empire page. As you can see from other similar pages, e.g., Spanish Empire or French Colonial Empire, their infoboxes contain quite a lot of information, not just the flags and map. If you have found any mistakes in the additions I've made, I would, of course, be grateful for your corrections. However, don't you think that having more details in the infobox is much better for the users?
Please let me know what you think and whether it would be useful to return at least some of my additions to the infobox.
Best regards,
Wiki the Octopus (talk) 21:39, 7 August 2021 (UTC)Wiki the Octopus Wiki the Octopus (talk) 21:04, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Wiki the Octopus:No problem at all, your addition of flags denoting preceding states and succeeding states is an example of WP:OR and WP:SYN, this isn't something that sources do and you've compiled this yourself. Secondly, please refer to the talk page archive, the Infobox and Infoboxes in general are somewhat of a touchy subject in Wikipedia. There is a long standing concensus on that article to have a fairly minimal infobox. Finally, the BE article is under FAR review and we're trying to keep the article tidy. I must say I'm surprised at the Spanish Empire article had something similar to what you proposed and I guess I can see why you thought it was a good idea but it really isn't.
- You can try your suggestion in the talk page of the article but I doubt you'll get a sympathetic hearing. I hope you don't find this discouraging there is plenty of other things you can edit and feel free to ask for advice in future. WCMemail 22:11, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your kind reply! I see what you mean about the list of preceding and succeeding states. I'll read the previous discussions on the talk page before making further suggestions.
- Thanks again,
- Wiki the Octopus (talk) 22:22, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
Revert on Spanish Empire
Hello, I noticed you reverted my edit on the Spanish Empire article where I fixed a typo (confraternaties --> confraternities). The changed spelling to confraternities is consistent with other uses of the word in the article and is the correct dictionary spelling, so I am confused as to why the edit was reverted. – Normal Name (talk) 22:06, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Normal Name:It was an accidental rollback, it happens sometimes when I review my watchlist on a phone or tablet. I have no issues with your revert. WCMemail 07:08, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved on the List of Impact Wrestling personnel page. Thank you. Addicted4517 (talk) 08:47, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- I was already commenting, I found that discussion via the link from WP:ANI#User making a point of starting trouble.. As a bit of personal advice, your reverts were correct but edit warring with someone like this can get you into trouble as well. Best to raise BLP issues at WP:BLPN and bring other editors into the discussion. WCMemail 08:51, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- If you look at the history on New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling you'll see that this one doesn't listen and has his own take on sources. I am hoping that making this report does boomerang on him as if he hadn't I would have. I am very careful with reverting and am aware of the rules of edit warring. I did notice you already commented while I was putting the message here and on HHH Pedrigee's page as he was involved on the Buddy Murphy thing and reacted accordingly on the Incident page. Addicted4517 (talk) 08:59, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- His reply on the incident page proves my point I think. Addicted4517 (talk) 09:04, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- It does but it was a mistake to reply, read WP:LASTWORD for some good advice. They're headed for a WP:BOOMERANG block if they're not careful but it is always better to try and tell editors how they can avoid it. It's then up to them to listen. WCMemail 09:11, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oh it was never my intention to seek the last word. I merely pointed out two simple things for the sole purpose of being obvious to the admins who look in. His latest comment won't be replied to by me because it was the most blatant case of totally ignoring what I said. I just hope it doesn't take too long for an admin to come in and deal with it. Discretionary sanctions notification
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in the Troubles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

The Scott's Oyster Bar bombing article, as well as other articles relating to The Troubles, Irish Nationalism and British Nationalism in relation to Ireland, is under a 1-revert-restriction, meaning no more than 1 revert in a 24 hour period. FDW777 (talk) 11:34, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- I was unaware of any 1RR restriction as I don't usually edit in this area, so thank you for making me aware of it. In fact I usually avoid it as I find narrow nationalism in all its form a cesspit of bigotry and ignorance. It appears, however, that you are aware of it and have already reverted several times today [1], [2], [3], [4]; please note I've already indicated to you that I have no intention of reverting further today [5]. I won't be reporting this violation but would suggest you self-revert as I suggested. WCMemail 11:43, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- @FDW777: to make sure they read my reply as they have deleted my talk page message [6]. WCMemail 11:45, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Feel free to report, since removing a WP:BLP violation that you deliberately restored to the article is as exempt from 1RR as it gets. FDW777 (talk) 11:47, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- If it was a BLP violation I wouldn't have restored it and you have made no attempt to explain your reasoning that it is a BLP violation. WCMemail 12:24, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- I suggest reading Talk:Balcombe Street Gang#Significant BLP issues with this article to begin with. Or you could start by reading the non-reference that supposedly referenced the sentence. FDW777 (talk) 12:37, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Your edits on New Zealand English
Hey, I've noticed you've reverted one of my edits. What you've done has enforced an edit that was against the previous consensus that had been in place since May of 2021 and was only changed by an unsourced edit by the Christopher1968 on the 30/11/2021. This is irking because along with Roger 8 Roger you have come to a page you've previously had no edit history on and enforced the unsourced changes. Because of this, I'm reverting your edit, and requesting that in future you check the edit history before involving yourself in a page. Gladfire (talk) 17:20, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- What is irksome is edit warring followed by templating an established editor whilst refusing to take matters to talk. I've reverted you with the suggest you follow WP:BRD; I note that @Roger 8 Roger: has already indicated a willingness to accept your proposal. I take no position on the merits of your edit but your edit history shows a predilection for edit warring and you need to understand wikipedia is a collaborative project built on consensus. Hi WCM. I just wanted to drop you a message to apologise for the time it's taking me to get round to working with you on adjustments to the British Empire article. Restoring it to FA is still one of my priorities, and I was genuine when I said that I did not intend to intervene in the discussion to see the article de-listed, and then disappear off without investing time to improve it. I did read around the topic quite extensively at the time, and I've purchased a couple of books to assist in my research. However, I'm still struggling along IRL with my university degree, which is not easy as I have ADHD. Because of this, I have a tendency to over optimistically/unrealistically estimate how long it will take me to achieve things. As I mentioned previously, I have ambitious plans for new thematic sections for the article (which of course, I will bring to the talk page for feedback and discussion). This is a large task and I won't be able to start on it until my timetable clears, which, depending on my workload, may not be until the end of the academic year. I wanted to be transparent with you about my intentions, and reiterate that I'm committed to turning my previous critiques of the page into actionable proposals for discussion. - OK thanks for letting me know, I'm still very demotivated by the way that review was conducted, so to be honest I haven't done much myself. Have you seen my reply on Boris Johnson by the way? WCMemail 07:53, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry I missed your response there. I've glanced at it now, but won't be able to give your points proper consideration tonight as I have a set of coursework deadlines on Friday. I'll get back to you on that talk page over the next couple of days. Jr8825 • Talk 18:45, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Falklands War again
Thanks for your recent help with this article. The reason I was editing the article was a request at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Military_history/Archive_165#Falklands_War, asking for the "citation needed" tags to be sorted out before the 40th anniversary on 2 April. I'm afraid I ended up creating a few more and now probably won't have time to finish before the deadline. The main issues are around the final battles around Stanley (Tumbledown etc) where I am having trouble matching text with the limited sources I have available. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Alansplodge (talk) 15:48, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
