Spam in LearningRx[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on LearningRx, by Paultyng (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because LearningRx is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting LearningRx, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate LearningRx itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:52, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Gibson Institute of Cognitive Research requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.gibsonresearchinstitute.org/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Dr. Ken Gibson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Copyright, notability, promotion[edit]

Wikipedia cannot hold copyright material, not even in sandboxes or AfC submission pages, not even temporarily. Please read Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. Assertion of permission to use text is not enough; we have to be certain that the person giving a release has the authority to do so, and that the actual copyright holder understands and agrees to Wikipedia's license terms, which allow any reader to copy, modify and re-use material for any purpose including commercial. For those reasons, a formal copyright release, as described at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, is required.

It is very seldom worth making a copyright release because, even if the copyright issue were resolved, simply posting a copy of an organization's own promotional material does not make an acceptable encyclopedia article. For background, see User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard.

Wikipedia's inclusion criterion is called Wikipedia:Notability, and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Independent sources are required, not only to establish notability, but also to enable an article to written which is an outside view of the subject, not simply the story it wishes to tell the world.

There is good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article; if you are connected with the Institute, your conflict of interest means that you should not post directly, but use WP:Articles for creation to make a draft for review by uninvolved users. If you are employed by the Gibson Institute, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and note in particular that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest in any edits for which you expect to be remunerated, either directly or because they are made as part of your paid employment. The article The Gibson Test of Cognitive Skills has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unable to find independent references, used in Gibson's franchised tutor centers

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
