Hi, I've accepted this draft since it seems notable per the notability guidelines for professors, but I am still seeing a lack o independent sources - not conference or university or professional bios, not works he's written, not press releases. I think there's some chance another editor will re-draftify this if you don't add better sources; in my judgment it's just borderline. Rusalkii (talk) 16:31, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiDiaspora. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:WikiDiaspora. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=WikiDiaspora|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Netherzone (talk) 18:36, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I write articles using encyclopedias and other books, media articles, and other independent sources. I really try to make sure my edits do not violate Wikipedia's rules. So, no, I am not directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. WikiDiaspora (talk) 19:33, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello and thank you for your quick response, thanks for confirming you are unpaid. It seems you are coordinating directly with the people you write about, how does that work? Please explain when you find a moment. Netherzone (talk) 20:10, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know any of the personalities I wrote about; I'm just trying to be analytical but neutral. However, I will try to pay more attention to the tone of my articles. WikiDiaspora (talk) 20:46, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you are wanting to write about personalities, organizations and events, however I fail to understand how it is that you are able to upload so many professional headshots of people to the articles you create stating that they are obtained through "private correspondence" if you are not personally or professionally connected to them. Please explain, thank you. Netherzone (talk) 20:55, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your question. When I am interested in writing about a person, I first search for their photo via Google Images. Then, in order to make the article look better, I try to find the photographer's email and contact him to send me a high-quality file. Most often, it is a professional photographer who has photographed a certain person at a public event and, most importantly, is ready to provide the photo without compensation. WikiDiaspora (talk) 21:12, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. It is clear that you do have a conflict of interest, paid or not paid. I'll be sending you another message following this that will contain links to WP's guidelines for conflict of interest (COI) editing. I also want you to know that I will be doing some clean up of your articles. Thank you and all best, Netherzone (talk) 00:33, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, WikiDiaspora. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 00:34, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
