You're amazing[edit]

Olatunde -- just read the Techsmart.ng about you; you're really awesome; glad to be editing with you. I like the way you make arguments on AfD. Best, Myke (p.s., I hope to be able to add an article on a great Nigerian music theorist, Meki Nzewi soon, thanks for giving me the inspiration to keep adding information about great Nigerians). -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 03:52, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind words, Mscuthbert. I'm honored to meet you and thanks for encouraging your students to editing Wikipedia. I will be glad to collaborate with you. Thanks for your willingness to create a page for Professor Meki Nzewi. In the meantime, you may want to take a look at Wiki Loves Nigeria Writing Contest, an on-going contest I organized to improve the coverage of Nigeria-related articles on Wikipedia. 17:22:22, 8 February 2016 review of submission by Alice Ananian[edit]

I'm requesting a re-review because the article has been declined 3 times now. The first time it was for lack of substantial sources. Since that review the sources have been adjusted accordingly. Since then the second decline was for lack of a neutral tone, which also seemed to imply that the sourcing issue had been fixed. Thus the second re-submission was done specifically targeting the objectivity of the article and acheiveing the proper tone. At this point I am wondering what sources are missing specific to this article to establish notability.

Upon reading Wiki's guidelines for what constitutes notability, I realize that living persons are not considered notable just because they are famous or popular. Rather, they must have made one or more serious contributions in order to be considered notable. In the case of the subject of this article, I believe this person and their works have more than the sufficient substance and deserve to belong in an encyclopedia. The reality is that despite this person's significant contributions, they do lack a certain degree of fame (which tends to help when looking for more sources). My objective with this article is to create an objective, comprehensive overview of this person and their contributions on the well-established trusted platform that is Wikipedia.

I appreciate the re-review and any further feedback you may have. Thanks in advance.

@Alice Ananian:--Thanks for your willingness to help Wikipedia and I'm sorry to learn that your draft submission was declined three times. However, I noticed that the entire section on "Early life" is unreferenced, and I'm not too sure of the reliability of the sources provided. Do you mind if I take it to WP:AfD after accepting the draft? It's unlikely to survive at AfD and if its get deleted after a consensus is reached, you will not be able to recreate it. Should I give you enough time to provide more reliable sources? Let me know what will work best for you. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 18:16, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wikicology Thank you for giving me the option. Actually I've just added some more sources, including two for the "Early life" section. To be safe I'd want to resubmit it for review before having someone move it to WP:AfD. Or if you yourself wouldn't mind having another look, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again! Alice Ananian (talk) 21:33, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I will take a look, later today. Warm regards. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 23:53, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Improper close of Glamour Solos AFD[edit]

Please undo this immediately. The AFD was closed prematurely, not allowed to run the full seven days. Non-admins may not snow close AFD. The AFD was not a speedy keep. You did not even note that this was a non-admin close in your closing statement. If you were familiar with the ongoing porn-related disputes, you would also have realized that Davey2010's "not because of policies" keep !vote was intended as a humorous comment that the article should be deleted. I noted the improper close when I went to the AFD to add comments, so you action disrupted an ongoing discussion. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by administrators since 2006. (talk) 13:38, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how my closure is disruptive. Editors agreed that 5 AVN Awards are enough to meet WP:NFILM. Feel free to revert my edit if you considered my closure inappropriate. Pinging MichaelQSchmidt on this. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 13:56, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
While Wolf dislikes when consensus runs against him, he is correct that you should have waited at least one more day to close per WP:OUTCOMES. And even when consensus is running unanimously against him, he might always request a relisting in hopes that the tide will turn. Sorry. Schmidt, Michael Q. 22:16, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was more or less asked to clarify (Thanks MQS), Sorry Hullaballoo but the !vote wasn't to delete It was pretty much a "HOTTIE" !vote - Yep I occasionally !vote Keep based on the looks of the Porn actress!, Although I obviously !vote I never expect my !vote to be taken seriously and 99% of the time it never is taken seriously, Without my !vote it does look to be a Keep but it's best to leave AFDs for the full 7 days as it then doesn't cause problems like this, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 22:41, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks to Davey2010 and Sir Michael. Consensus appears clear, hence the reason for my closure but such an early closure might be a poor decision on my part. I'm sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused Hullaballoo Wolfowitz but I don't see how their reopening of the debate will be helpful. It will only amount to a waste of time of other editors. I'm a bit perplexed on why it was nominated for deletion in the first instance. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 06:57, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gbawden; thanks for patrolling new pages, Wikipedia appreciate your help. However, I declined your A7 speedy deletion request because the criterion does not applies to articles with credible claim of significance. A claim of India's leading construction company and the presences of reliable sources like The Economic Times and The Times of India are enough to pass A7. Kindly note that no article ever has to specifically say "I am notable because....". Please, accept my sincere apology if you think I misinformed you in anyway. Warm regards. Nomination for deletion of Adesayo Oyedijo[edit]

Wikigy Dear Olatunde, after reading through your comments suggesting that the article on Adesayo Oyedijo should be deleted, I must say I was very surprised at your level of judgement and your ability to actually criticize or make expert opinions. You stated that Ade Oyedijo was just doing his job and that being a Dean of a faculty is not enough to meet the WP:ACADEMIC threshold. I totally disagree with your thinking here which I think is very poor. A Dean of a faculty at a University is a very high position. To become a Dean of a faculty, you must be a reputable, respectable and excellent academic. Infact, being a Faculty Dean at a University is one of the highest positions an academic can ever attain in their career. The Vice Chancellor of a University is also performing is job in my opinion. Politicians are also doing their jobs. I am afraid to say your ability to analyze things is quite poor. However, it is disturbing that you could say otherwise. If you read through his profile properly, you will find that he was not just doing his job like you stated, he was exceptional at his job. He achieved so much as a academic from Nigeria and his page is worth seeing by the whole world. When you talk about references/sources to show is Notability, he was in the news such as (Sun, Vanguard). Many academics in Nigeria are not promoted particularly the ones with exceptional profiles such as Adesayo Oyedijo. His profile has been viewed by many people already and viewers are motivated by his achievements as a Nigerian academic. Looking at your personal page, I think you do not deserve to be on Wikipedia also. You have only one source and you being a manager at Wikipedia doesn't make you a notable person. It also doesn't make you worthy to be seen by the world. For your profile to be Wikipedia, It is my opinion that Adesayo Oyedijo deserves to be on Wikipedia more than you. You have not achieved anything spectacular from my evaluation and interpretation of things because your profile is very lame. I will also push for your profile to be removed with everything I have got only if you do what is right by allowing Adesayo Oyedijo's profile stay. Lastly, looking at your past record (requesting deletion of pages), a number of people have complained about your ability to make accurate judgement about pages. You are suppose to be a Nigerian Wikipedia ambassador promoting Nigerian Academics whose are profiles actually worth being seen by the world, but instead you were the very first person to demand for it to be deleted. You call yourself an academic and you act in such a very disturbing manner. I am very perturbed at your inability individuality. I worked on Adesayo Oyedijo's profile for one month, and you came the second day it got published to get rid of it. You should at least give constructive feedback on how to improve the page and not put it forward for deletion. Your nomination is invalid in my opinion, I am afraid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gboyeaig11 (talkcontribs) 17:19, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First off, accept my sincere apology for this extremely slow response. Please kindly note that WP:MAINSPACE is not the same as WP:USERPAGE. The contents you read at User:Wikicology is not a mainspace article and it has nothing to do with notability. However, I very much appreciate all of the time you have put into writing the article, and I hope you will continue with your effort to add more Nigeria-related topics to Wikipedia. We usually don't consider an academic notable unless they satisfy one or more of the criteria described in WP:ACADEMIC. Please read WP:Your first article, WP:N, WP:GNG and WP:RS. You will definitely find these guidelines helpful. Thanks to samtar and Cahk for reverting the vandalism on my userpage. I'm aware of the user's disruptive behavior but I'm only trying to be lenient with them. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 21:58, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
