Spelling map

[edit]

File:American and British spelling differences.png is nice, but the color/colour contrast could be improved. Thanks for adding it! YBG (talk) 00:06, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The map seems to be total guesswork. On what basis have you decided that former British colonies in Africa, like Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe, use American English? I've read books by Nigerian and Kenyan authors, and they are always in BE. On what basis have you decided that countries like Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium, where English is not an official language, are AE speaking? Even Canadian English is far from identical with BE.
If you believe your map is correct, please add your references for each country you have coloured. Otherwise, I strongly suggest that you do not use this clearly made up and incorrect map in an article Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:41, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of French genocide for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article French genocide is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/French genocide until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

I have nominated this now, despite your {{New page}} template, because I do not believe this is a case of allowing time for "more editing... to meet standards". Sorry, but no amount of editing will save this. JohnCD (talk) 09:58, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not create, maintain or restore hoaxes on Wikipedia. Hoaxes are eligible for speedy deletion under criterion G3. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can contribute constructively. Thank you. Hello, I'm FoCuSandLeArN. I noticed that in this edit to Skank, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 23:30, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I blanked the page and moved the content to the disambiguation page so I could put a redirect there without messing it up, as I was notified earlier that the disambiguation page redirected. Wikidroid 2000 (talk) 23:54, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not try to change page titles by copying text out of one page and pasting it into another. This is a cut-and-paste move which is contrary to Wikipedia policies, because we need to preserve the edit history of each page for attribution purposes. Donald S. Zagoria

[edit]

Not sure I understand the reasoning for making essentially a blank page at Donald S. Zagoria. Far better to build the page in your user space or draft space until you get enough for a stub.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:33, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have paraphrased some of the content you added to the above article, as it appears to have been copied from http://www.ncnk.org/member-directory/professor-donald-s.-zagoria, a copyright web page. 4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.

Michael Alexander St John moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Michael Alexander St John, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Wikidroid 2000. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Michael Alexander St John".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 11:36, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Birmingham, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Birmingham metropolitan area (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello. I wanted to let you know that your recent edit(s) to Britannic (film) have been removed because you cited the information you added to IMDb. As discussed at WP:RS/IMDb, IMDb is considered a questionable source, and generally should not be used as a sole reference. You are welcome to re-add the information using a different reliable source, or with an additional source confirming the information from IMDb. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 16:40, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:London Weekend Television logo (1996).svg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:London Weekend Television logo (1996).svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wcam (talk) 16:37, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
