If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Susan Roberts (geographer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. | Nayptatalk opened his mouth at 17:49, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Susan Roberts (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Department of Geography, University of Washington[edit]

Hi Wilsonism, thank you for creating this article. Unfortunately, it appears to be a copy from http://faculty.washington.edu/krumme/faculty/dept2.htm, which was published in 1994 and hence is still under copyright. Do you happen to be the author of the content of this webpage, or do you have more information regarding its copyright status? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Widy9 (talkcontribs) 18:35, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

HI Widy9. I attribute that much of the article is an edited down version of the webpage by Krumme. I worry that this webpage may eventually disappear, so I felt it appropriate to capture much of that history in Wikipedia, with attribution. I'm uncertain that this material is under copyright.Wilsonism (talk) 18:40, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Wilsonism, thanks for answering so quickly. I see that you spent quite some time editing and wikifying the page, and the result looks really good. It's a tricky situation because, legally, Wikipedia can't host copyrighted material, but as you said the page might disappear and it would be a shame to lose that so we should try to do as much as we can to keep it here. Are you by any chance in contact at all with either the author, or the publisher, or someone that could help sort the copyright status? Thanks. Widy9 (talk) 18:51, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In the meantime, I am going to add a notice on the Talk page, informing that we are in the process of resolving the copyright status, to make sure the page is not deleted for copyright reasons. The author has regretably passed away, but if the publisher allowed Krumme to reproduce it online, they could allow it here as well. This link might be of interest to you Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Widy9 (talk) 19:16, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just chiming in: I note that the web content is derived from the previously published article in Association of Pacific Coast Geographers Yearbook: http://old.geog.psu.edu/hog/depthistory_files/Washington.pdf. The fact that the information exists in printed form as well as the website means it is less likely the information would disappear forever, even if less accessible than the convenience of the world wide web, but the same could be said of almost any book or journal article printed in the last 100 years. --Animalparty! @Wilsonism and Widy9: I have just tagged the article in question with {{copyvio}}. I did this without seeing the message on the talk page. Whoops. I don't think it will be deleted soon though, hopefully. If you want to get rid of it do feel free to. At least this way someone won't tag it for speedy deletion though.  Seagull123  Φ  20:01, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
