My RfA

Word of thanks for Wizardman
Good morning (GMT time); I'd like to thank you for supporting, opposing, taking a neutral stance to, closing, suggesting I close or otherwise contributing to my recent RfA; unfortunately, I felt that although there were more support than oppose votes, the weight of the latter was too great for me to accept the promotion with so many not trusting me with the janitor's trolley -
I therefore decided to end my nomination prematurely. The feedback I received was invaluable, and I am striving to start afresh with all of the advice my fellow Wikipedians offered. In order to meet the aim of adapting to your advice, I've drew up a list of aims (located here) which I intend to follow from this point onwards. at my talkreign in blood page where it will be graciously and humbly accepted. Once again, thank you and I do hope to bump into you around the encyclopedia!

Regards,
Anthonycfc [TC]

Camino Real Middle School

Hey man. Why did you have to delete that page. I wasn't finished. And if you say that there is nothing special about that school you're funny. Not only did that school's 7th grade football team end their season number 1 in the district but it was visited by Texas Governor Rick Perry in late 2006 to make a $135,000 donation because of our outstanding academic performance. Violation of BLP

I am very very disappointed with you. And very concerned that you attitude to my BLP block makes it impossible for me to continue the important work of BLP enforcement. You unilaterally reversed a BLP block without any discussion with the blocking admin, or, as far as I can see the concurrence of any other party. Please consider that your action are incredibly dangerous and the seriously tkkkhreaten our integrity. Please assure me that you would never act in this manner again.

If enforcing a BLP removal is considered a 'content dispute; then BLP is a laughing stock. BLP is not a content matter. It is exempt from the 3RR rule, because there is zero tolerance here. Unsourced material gets removed and it does not get replaced without citations. The user in question was well well warned - was in discussion with me at the time - and simply had no right or grounds to revert, much lest call a BLP removal vandalism. If he disagreed with my judgement, he was quite entitled to complain to ANI, file an RfC, and seek input from others. There was no rush here, and even if the m666aterial I removed was debatable, then we have that debate in its absence not its presence, since we err on the side of caution here. If people who don't like a BLP removal are allowed simply to question it, wikilawyer and revert, then BLP is practically useless.

Unsourced or poorly sourced controversial (negative, positive, or just highly questionable) material about living persons should be removed immediately from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, and user pages.[2] These principles also apply to biographical material about living persons in other articles. The responsibility for justifying controversial claims in Wikipedia, of all kinds, but especially for living people's bios, rests firmly on the shoulders of the person making the claim.

The user had many option to pursue - he could source and replace - he could complain and consult - but his edit warning with me was unacceptable, and if you can't see that, then you do not have the neceim just the beast under your bedssary judgement to undo blocks.--Docg 09:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I've requested widein your closet, in your headr community comment on all the surrounding issues by an RfC here--Docg 11:29, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I would also like to note that I find your unblock unacceptable; such an action should have been brought to WP:AN/I. Unblocks like that can lead to wheel wars, and in this case, I believe that the block was valid. Ral315 » 08:18, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Is this users actions allowed?

  • Hey there (:O) ... we have an ongoing debate over here on the status of an article. Now the thing I wanted to bring up was the editing and removal and well forceful rhetoric stating the result of the debate before it has even been decided. The one causing all this is User:Ideogram. I have tried so hard to be loving and understanding during this debate, but now I dont know if what the user is doing is right or wrong. I dont know who to go to, so I figure I may ask someone who is very familiar with the wikipedia world and how this should be dealt with maybe? Not sure. Please help. Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 23:20, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for responding - any contribution to help clearing out those unassessed articles is greatly appreciated! --Ozgod 05:40, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Assessment drive

Thanks for posting your name at the Assessment drive awards. For purposes of the drive, I'm thinking of lowering the number of assessments needed to receive a Barnstar to 500. This might encourage more people to participate. Do you think 500 assessments is enough to award a Barnstar? Thanks. -- Jreferee 22:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

My request for adminship has closed successfully (79/0/1), so it appears that I am now an administrator. Thanks very much for your vote of confidence. If there's anything I can ever do to help, please don't hesitate to let me know. IrishGuy talk 03:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Hi, Wizardman, I just wanted to thank you for your support on my RfA, which was successful with a final tally of 61/0/2. I'm honored at the trust the community has placed in me and hope my conduct as an administrator will justify that trust. If you have any comments about my use of the tools I would be glad to hear from you on my talk page. Thanks again! Heimstern Läufer 09:02, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

WP Bio Assessment Drive

I noticed the creation of /comment subpages earlier by the user you notified, I think you could tag them for speedy deletion with the template "tl|db", and use the reason of something along the lines of "Accidental creation of /comment subpages, moved to the talk page." I'll try to finish clearing up the rest. P.S. The RFC Jeffrey O. Gustafson is a single heading with one = either side, and is indenting the rest of the comments. Thanks, RHB Talk - Edits 20:54, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Dear Wizardman! Thank you for nominating Kiarostami for GA. It passed successfully and after some more works is now a FA candidate. George B. McClellan

Hi. I recently nominated McClellan as a Good Article Candidate, and it easily passed. I actually think that this could potentially be a Featured Article Candidate, so I was wondering if you would allow me to create a peer review (or you can create it) to see what work still needs to be done/if work needs to be done. You can certainly submit it to WP:FAC afterwards, as I think it would pass.--Wizardman 14:23, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

You are free to submit any article for peer review, although my personal preference would be that you do not. I have a policy that I do not attempt to raise the visibility of my articles by participating in any of the assessment exercises. I have never posted an assessment grade on any article and have never nominated one of my articles for assessment by anonymous reviewers. Hal Jespersen 15:58, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Honestly, I'd probably keep it at 1000. Barnstars are meant to be hard to get, and 1000 isn't that hard to obtain really. script

Hi Wizardman, I see you had some trouble getting my script "installed". I think this should work with your setup - I tested it on my own page:

winc('[[User:Outriggr/metadata.js]]');

That way, you stay attached to the code as changes are made. Meanwhile, you can then delete all the code that was cut and pasted from the metadata.js page. Please try –Outriggr § 22:48, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. My concern is that if I add to or correct problems with the script, you will not receive any of those changes because the javascript code is hard-coded into your monobook.js, rather than being linked to as above. –Outriggr § 06:00, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Is a week the normal time for a featured article vote -for Abbas Kiarostami?. I suppose it is best then if it allows more people to review it. Blofeld (talk) 10:44, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Assessment from an article page

Thank you for helping out with the Biography assessment drive. Good news. Outriggr recently designed a script that will cut your biography assessment time down by about ten fold (what took ten hours now may only take one hour with Outriggr's script). For more information, please see the 'assessment from article page' discussion. -- Jreferee 20:22, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Mistaken application of CSD G4

Hi. I noticed that you deleted Arthur Mattuck by citing CSD G4; however, the previous AFD for this had resulted in keep. I presume there was some confusion here because the first AFD had resulted in delete, but deletion review had concluded a second AFD was necessary. I believe the proper procedure if you believe deletion is necessary is to start another AFD, not just to speedy delete. --C S (Talk) 03:34, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Last push for the Biography Assessment Drive

We've done great work so far on the WikiProject Biography Spring 2007 Assessment Drive, reducing the 135,345 backlog by 38,626 to 96,719 as of March 20, 2007. We have only 6,720 more to go to get below 90,000. That would be outstanding and any extra effort that you can offer in these last few days of the drive (which ends March 24, 2007) would be much appreciated. If you haven't already, you may want to load Outriggr's assessment script in your monobook.js. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on my talk page. -- Jreferee 23:22, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Closing RfAs

Hi, I saw that you closed Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/DvDknight. When closing an unsuccessful RfA, be sure to list it at Wikipedia:Unsuccessful adminship candidacies. John Reaves (talk) 16:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi. The result of the above discussion was Merge. Why then did you simply delete the page and redirect? You argument that they are "pretty well merged already" simply wasn't true, as there was a substantial quantity of material that should rightly have been moved into the race report page. If you are going to carry out the resolution of an AfD debate, could you please actually follow the terms as agreed. Cheers. Pyrope 10:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Re:RFA

Yup, I know I closed it early. I've done this quite a number of times in the past too. I've spoken about this (Sep-2005 RFA archives), where I routinely close entries (<6 hrs to go) that are a runaway success with low activity on the last day. I don't see any point in keeping the RFA going when the outcome is clear with so little time to go. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:13, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

RFA nom

That is an extraordinarily generous offer, thank you very much. Your note has led me to give some thought as to exactly where I am going in my relationship with this project. I started out as an article writer, with no real intention of doing anything other than writing articles. I became involved with one or two WikiProjects and as a result started working on setting up schemes of categorisation. This in turn led to WP:CFD and increasing involvement in the debates there. In amongst this I started on regular anti-vandalism patrols using Vandalproof.

There has certainly been something of a shift from those early days, but it is not a shift that I am necessarily displeased with. Essentially I suppose I have become more project-focused, rather than content-focused. I still have plans for various new/expanded articles for the future, there is no reason that being an admin (should I pass) should interfere with this. It would be good to be able to help out by being a little more 'hands-on' at CfD, help clear the periodical WP:CSD backlogs, and it would certainly be of use with my RC monitoring. I am gratified by the faith that you have been willing to show in me, if you would be willing to nominate me then I would be pleased to accept.

Best wishes, Xdamrtalk 20:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok then, it looks like we are now live. Many thanks for the nomination, we'll see how things work out. --Xdamrtalk 13:41, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Surprised?

Xdamr's RFA better succeed: CFD is taking over my life. I wrote out a request at WP:BRFA last night, to get permission to run AWB in bot mode to do CFD/W stuff, and only just managed to stop myself saving it. That was too close! Anyway, no, I'm not an admin. Perhaps I may be some day, but only after I've met all my editing targets. As of about now, I've only 1500 edits, three more articles, one FA, and an FA on the front page, to do and I'll have cut down the tallest tree in the forest with a herring. Or something like that. In the Global warming conspiracy theory AfD, you closed it saying "Plus the article had just been created when it was sent here, WP:AGF may apply in this case."

Thank you. So many articles are being tagged for AfD within hours of creation, without getting tagged for cleanup or POV, and so many AfD closers don't seem to take that into account. It's almost as if they need to put up a "no stubs allowed anymore" sign here. It was originally put up for speedy deletion; it was pretty close, but I decided to recue it, and put it up for AfD (that's pretty standard when an aryticle claims significance, but it's very dubious). The one link isn't nearly enough to satisfy WP:BIO, and nothing else was added after that. I'd have called it non-consensus; the result would have been the same in practice, but there's a psychological difference... --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:39, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

rfu2

The rfu2 template was created after discussion on WT:FU to address the fact that non-compliant images can now be deleted after 48 hours. As I was creating a new template I decided to categorise by date of deletion, as opposed to date of tagging, as this makes it easier for admins to know which categories to process. They are not listed in the other categories so it is shouldn't be listing anything twice. The rfu template could also use this system (listing under deletion date)... ed g2stalk 18:16, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi Wizardman, thanks for your kind support in my RfB. Sadly, it didn't pass, but I appreciate the support, and I do intend to run again eventually. See you around! Majorly (o rly?) 03:40, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
