Babe Ruth infobox

My apologies, it was unintentional. Mr Monty Marbles 05:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Just "football" is (usually) too ambiguous

Please stop moving articles with 'American football' in the disambiguation to just 'football'; they should be at "American football" or "American football player" to distinguish from the many other sports around the world known as football. Just "football" should only be used when the article applies to multiple varieties of football, such as with 12th Man (football) or Punter (football position). There are more examples at Wikipedia:WikiProject American football#Articles. Thank you. Sohelpme 22:39, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome back!

I know that I'm late, but welcome back after 3 weeks. We like your contributions here, it was just the colors that seemed to get everyone pissed (you missed an epic dispute on Reggie Jackson's page, Pascack and his socks were banned :), so they're not here apparently). I'm going to work on infoboxes coming up soon. Just an FYI. Keep up the good work! Soxrock 22:28, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Seasonal articles

Possible socks

You can't just discount somebody's vote because you think he is a sock. It has to be proven, first. Ksy92003(talk) 20:31, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

You have to gather the evidence, then go to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets and plead your case there. Then, an admin will open a discussion with you in regards to your evidence. All the instructions are there. Ksy92003(talk) 20:34, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, I can't say anything about that... if you really suspect him to be a sockpuppet, then you'll have to plead your case at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets. Ksy92003(talk) 20:41, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Phil Rizzuto

Phil Rizzuto was born in 1917. See Rizzuto discussion page and Rklawton talk page for explanation. Reversion of birth date is clearly vandalism.--KrazyChicken 17:25, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Reggie Jackson

  • Even though we had the vote, somebody came to my talk page about this and how it wasn't the way to fix the situation. Leaving the colors the way I had it is the most neutral way possible to keep the infobox until this conflict is solved once and for all. Ksy92003(talk) 22:28, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
  • I just looked at those, and I also feel you were right in the fact that those colors should be what you reverted them to. Just make sure you don't violate 3RR, okay? Ksy92003(talk) 22:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Promosed move of Ray Lewis (American football)

Hello, i started a section on the Talk:Ray Lewis (American football) page for you to address your concerns. Looking at those page histories, it's clear there is some concern over this. Also, it might help to provide some edit summaries. When you blanked the page a short time ago - it is possible that someone would have slapped you with a vandalism tag. I see that you are a conscientious editor, so it would be good to get some opinion before moving. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  04:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Rayburn

Why settle for less accurate information? Makes absolutely no sense. Pats1 23:42, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't care what the MLB/baseball project does. Two wrongs don't make a right. Rayburn was as much a member of the 49ers as he was the Eagles -- he just happened to be around in September for the Eagles. Pats1 23:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm not that big on football, and by that I mean I don't know what the agreement of this is on WP:NFL. But in all the baseball articles I've done, and all that I've seen, they only have those categories if they were on the team. However, for football articles you also put the teams if they were on practice rosters, which makes the decision even more difficult. Personally, I think that they would have to play an NFL game to have the appropriate category, but saying that may be conflicting with WP:BASEBALL. Why don't you pose this question at the project page, WP:NFL? It's not something I've ever noticed to be a problem on football articles, but with you bringing it up, it seems like it's a point that needs to be clearly expressed all throughout the project. Ksy92003(talk) 23:54, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Here's a question - why did you add Category:Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Jeremiah Trotter? He still hasn't played for them, so by your logic he shouldn't have it, just as Chris Claiborne should have the Jags category or Patrick Pass should have the Texans'. Don't you see the inconsistency here? If a guy is EVER eligible for the category (as Claiborne was, Pass was and Trotter is now) he ALWAYS is.►Chris Nelson 19:53, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure you would, but that's not what I'm asking. Why did you add it now given your view on the subject? He has yet to play a game, therefore in his eyes he does not fit the criteria. You cannot logically say Pass and Claiborne should have the Texans and Jags categories, respectively, if you keep current team categories on guys like Trotter and Brady Quinn. There is no difference here.
The thing is, once a player meets the criteria for this category, he ALWAYS will. What's done is done, and if a guy fits the bill it should always remain. You have to see the hypocrisy in your actions, and you have to admit your actions on Trotter make no sense given your actions on Pass and Claiborne.►Chris Nelson 20:05, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. You can't answer the question of why you added it to Trotter, because it's completely hypocritical given your past actions. You have no good answer because there isn't one. I'd respect you a lot more if you just admitted you were wrong and that you just didn't think it through.►Chris Nelson 20:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but you did not answer the question of why you added it now. Why is Trotter worthy of the category now? Don't you realize that is a guy is ever worthy for this kind of category, he's always worthy?►Chris Nelson 20:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
(Edit conflict)
Chrisjnelson, using the statement you just made to Yankees10, I'd also respect you a lot more if you took responsibility for your actions towards me. Ksy92003(talk) 20:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Yankees10 - You're saying Trotter does not currently meant the criteria for the category yet you're adding it anyway, in case he one day meets the requirements and people not forget to add it? Sorry, but that goes against WP:CRYSTAL and is a horrible reason. I'm not asking you WHY you put it, I'm asking you WHY you think he's worthy.►Chris Nelson 20:30, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

No, you don't have to explain your actions to me. But if you refuse to acknowledge they are hypocritical and inconsistent, then just know that I'm going to have to revert you every time I come across any incorrect edits. (Not going to follow you, just going to revert/re-add info if I see you've done it incorrectly.) Your goal should be accuracy and consistency, and unfortunately you don't seem to have much interest in that. But it's alright - I'm willing to clean up after you. If you ever want to help out and do things better, that'd be good also.►Chris Nelson 20:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Categories2

I am not going to comment any further right now because i believe my answer sufficiently expresses my perspective. Plain and simple - if they are on the roster during any regular season (no matter what "special section" of the roster) - then they belong. If not, they don't. I have no desire to enter into a conversation with those editors at this time. I don't think my post could have been anymore clear as far as my thoughts. My reasoning for this is the same as my reasoning for leaving the information out of infoboxes. This discussion (where you chimmed in), includes a fairly good synopsis of my rational. Please feel free to reference it as you see fit and let me know if you need anything else. I will mark your talk page so we can converse here if need be. Just fyi, I try as much as possible to keep discussions centralized - i think this is a bit different than the request (as we're now talking about behavior), so i put the last comment over here to keep it easy to follow. In any event, it appears that I might be able to participate in the discussion now without fear of things getting out of hand. However, we need to make sure that we don't inadvertantly squash another user's opinion simply because he/she is unable to edit. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  03:29, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Why does run batted in need to be abbreviated? I don't see any specific reason why. Ksy92003(talk) 17:05, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

But that's just unnecessary piping then. If the title of the article is sufficient enough to give the reader complete understanding of what it is intended for, then piping is unnecessary. Ksy92003(talk) 17:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I'd prefer that if it were reverted, that you'd do so. That would just show that this was discussed and people looking at that and seeing that you revert yourself, then they'd know that the issue was discussed between the opposing parties. Ksy92003(talk) 17:17, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

How does a Florida flag convey nationality any more than the word 'Florida'?►Chris NelsonHolla! 14:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Or Floridian as someone who lives in Florida would be called. Actually read the link I provided. — Save_Us_229 19:59, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

The info on Randy Gradishar should stay as I have it. I worked very hard on that article and it conveys an encyclopedic message. The rule for wikipedia is verification. Running backs template

Actually I pondered where we should have those when I first saw the quarterbacks template, and I have to say I believe a running backs one should not exist. The issue is that because of certain packages and things, a starting running back could possibly not be out there on the opening play. Unlike the quarterbacks and kickers template, this is an issue.

For example, what if Indianapolis opened with five wideouts, or four wideouts and a tight end? Joseph Addai wouldn't have started because he wasn't out there the first play. Or what if the Chargers began a game with both LaDainian Tomlinson and Michael Turner in the backfield.

As you can see, positions other than ones like quarterback or kicker create issues like this, where there isn't always an easy solution. So I'm not sure I'm in favor of this one's existence.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:21, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

woah

your right about the no ref in the header, but make sure not to delete the ref. move the ref to the appropiate place later on in the article. because later in the articles there is the "ref name" only, and if you removed the ref then it kills the second ref. I would just like to add that Tug McGraw and Keith Hernandez did not have small "highlights" as Mets in their careers. These guys played many years in New York, were World Series heroes, and are most remembered in Mets uniforms. If you can both argue for Reggie Jackson as a Yankee over A's, I don't know how you can argue against either of these guys as Mets. It is a double standard.
