My history

Hey, this might be a weird request, but can you not follow my contributions? It kind of bothers me sometimes when people do that, and I've had run-ins with a few people (as you might recall) over stuff like that.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I say that based on your recent edit to Blake Mitchell (American football), by the way.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Line breaks in infobox

I've undone your edit and explained myself in the infobox, but I'd like to come here and ask you to re-consider your stance on this. It's going to be two lines no matter how much is on one line or the other, right? Three Pro Bowl years simply pushes it that way. But if that's the case, we might as well have the pro bowl years all together on the second line (rather than one on the first line and two on the bottom) because I think this is a lot clearer and neater.►Chris NelsonHolla! 00:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Apostrophes

I've noticed with some of your templates you've made that you've put an apostrophe in MVPs. This is actually not a standard way of writing things. Just as with years, like the 1960s, it's actually not appropriate to put an apostrophe. I've gone ahead and moved these, just wanted to let you know.►Chris NelsonHolla! 04:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Relocating discussion from User talk:Chrisjnelson

If you don't mind, I'm going to answer your recent question here. I don't see any more need to bother Chris by keeping the discussion there. I don't want somebody to see "You have a new message" in that scary orange box and see that it's nothing to do with you. For convenience, here is your post:

"I know this really has nothing to do with infoboxes, but do you still track me and Chris' edits, because remember back in like April or March me and Chris had that whole disslike of each other thing, and you said you were going to track our edits, not that I care, you can track my edits if you'd like, I was just wondering, I've actually been meaning to ask you for a while but I kept forgetting--Yankees10 (talk) 01:44, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

When I first encountered you and Chris at Talk:Reggie Jackson, ironically about the infoboxes, I noticed that you two were being incivil with each other and that lingered for a short time. I kept a close eye on both you and Chris to make sure that nothing else happened between you two. I noticed that after a while, you two started to diverge, at least in that you weren't involved with many (if any) discussions with them, so I saw no reason to check any longer.
Right now, every now and then I check somebody's contributions (not necessarily Chris' or your contributions) primarily to check if anybody is actively contributing, and I want to know if they are involved in any disputes. Using this method, I saw that Chris was in a really lame dispute about trivia tags just last week. When I look in somebody's contributions and see that they reverted somebody or an edit summary that suggests that they are in a content dispute or something similar (again, not necessarily you or Chris, just anybody I know, I look over the dispute and sometimes will give my opinion if necessary (usually it isn't, but just in case. User:Louis Alberto Guel

Hey, I just want to like you know that User:Louis Alberto Guel is changing the infobox for people like Bill Belichick, Al Davis, Dennis Green and so on. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 22:26, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

He is reverting the infoboxes again, is there anyway to make him stop? Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 18:38, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I just sent him a message. Hopefully that would make things clear to him (I doubt it however, he is 12 after all) Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 18:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Louis Alberto... whatever is at it again, I believe I already reverted everything he reverted but he also deleted our comments from his talk page which he is not allowed to do. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 02:52, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure he can do that actually.►Chris NelsonHolla! 14:56, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

All-pros

Is there a discussion about the All-Pro stuff? There has always been a difference in being All-Pro and 2nd team all-pro . . . is there a place I can comment. Adding the 1st teams and 2nd teams an calling them both all-pro is not verifiable . . . unless there is a place that has been found that I am not aware of. Just let me know where the discussion is. . . it will look like people are cheating in a way---making a guy hwo is a 4-time all-pro into a 6-time all-pro . 72.0.36.36 (talk) 00:21, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA !Vote

I reverted your RfA vote because it was on an untranscluded malformed RfA. I'm not sure how you got to it (looked at the history of WP:RFA and found it between diffs?) but it was transcluded completely broken, I tried fixing it and shortly afterwards it was removed. Its a redlinked new user. Avruchtalk 00:27, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

On that particular RfA you probably shouldn't. If you want to weigh in on others, the main WP:RFA page has transclusions of all the active requests. Avruchtalk 00:37, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

'Cos its closed. It'd be a waste of your time. Avruchtalk 00:45, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I don't even know if he noticed. It was closed on him as malformed (i.e. an invalid RfA until its properly formatted and resubmitted). Avruchtalk 00:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. Avruchtalk 00:52, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Reasons for my Boselli edits

  1. If the Pro Bowl selections are going to take to take up two lines, which is unavoidable with five of them, they might as well all be together. It looks neater.
  2. No reason not to condense the All-Pro years. The only reason we don't for Pro Bowl years is because they link to individual games. All-Pro years link to nothing.
Also, where was it decided that state flags should be removed from infoboxes?►Chris NelsonHolla! 01:23, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Tackles

Hey I so the change that you made for Peter Boulware and I'm wondering what site you used for tackles so I can use it. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 18:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Just a question about the changes you made to my edits on these pages. You changed Larry Whigham's career tackles from 40 to 242, but I haven't been able to find a site confirming this number. If you have one, could you please share it with me? Not only will it clear this up but it will also help me during future edits. Also, you changed the statistical categories within Otis Smith's infobox, adding tackles in place of interception yards. Prior to my original edit I checked the pages of many prominent retired cornerbacks to make sure I had the correct format and, if you look at some too, you'll see that total tackles aren't normally listed for cornerbacks who primarily played on more than special teams. Thanks a lot and I look forward to your reply! Cbrnb (talk) 03:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC).

Thanks for getting back to me. Sounds good! Cbrnb (talk) 18:36, 20 February 2008 (UTC).

Speedy deletion of Vontae Davis

A tag has been placed on Vontae Davis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Pen of bushido (talk) 07:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I think maybe put the wrong tag on this article. It's not incoherent or offensive/vandalism. I just feel it needs more work to justify inclusion. The article itself states "No notable achievements". Pen of bushido (talk) 07:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

If you're updating it, please update the section about his free agency with a link confirming his signing. A possible one. Also, edit summaries like "fuck this" are not helpful. Enigma msg! 23:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

No need to be rude. I didn't say it wasn't helpful to me. I'm saying it's not helpful in general. 1. Enigma msg! 00:04, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
It was being reported for hours that the signing was "imminent", but the issue was whether there was a reliable link saying the signing was complete. A lot of the time I'll hear about news hours before it can be posted to Wikipedia. I had this with Bobby Petrino's hiring in Arkansas. I heard about him going there about 8 hours before it was allowed to be in the article. Changes kept getting reverted until they officially announced it at a press conference. below color

The color is embedded into the below command. I do not know how to override it. It is the same everywhere that I have used (Template:NFL Draft template list, Template:NBA Draft template list, Template:Playboy Playmate template list, & Template:Swimsuit Issue template list) it and I do not know what to do.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 17:36, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Removing something because of the color is silly. Ask the help desk how to override the color if it is a concern. I am sure it can be done. I don't even use color in the template I transclude. Just ask about choosing the color for the below section of a navbox.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 18:01, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I concede it may be less useful on NBA and NFL templates because each draft has an article, but I find it as useful as navboxes in general. As with anything concensus will rule and if there is outrage or uproar over the change I will give in.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 18:12, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the Celtics WikiProject! We are a group of (mainly) Celtics fans who help to improve coverage related to the Boston Celtics on Wikipedia.

Looking for somewhere to start? Here is a few suggestions.

  • You can check out topics on the main page.
  • You can add {{WikiProject Boston Celtics}} to talk pages of Boston Celtics-related articles, and assess them as well.
  • Check out the to do list for the WikiProject, and opt to try and complete some of those tasks.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to talk about the project in general, feel free to leave a message on the talk page.

Disagree with your edits

Your recent edits to Rickey Henderson seem inconsistent with the guidelines provided on the infobox. (Note that I did not revert your previous edits.) I like how you simplified the "Holds Many Records" thing on your recent edit, but I'm still not sure you're doing the right thing by showing "batting average" as the "stat1label." According to the infobox, one should use the most important statistic. Rickey's .279 average is not his.

stat1label = the most important statistic for evaluating this player. Will vary according to what the player is most well-known for.
stat1value = the value of that statistic.
stat2label = another statistic (up to three can be used)
stat2value = etc.
stat3label =
stat3value =

I don't really care one way or another, but I'd like to stop the edit wars, and I now tend to favor the infobox instructions. Timneu22 (talk) 23:56, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

New multi-link stats template for external links sections

Since you edit NFL player articles, I wanted to point out a template I've made to add multiple links to a football player's External links section. The info is located here. You could put my template up for TFD. Just let me know if you do. You could also edit it if the changes are minor. I find I like to bounce around myself and when template have unifying template I can. This is like the draft one. In this case it also calls attention to the 12 teams that remain undone as an added bonus. helpful link

Hi. This isn't a warning or anything. I just thought maybe you hadn't been given the link to the actual 3RR policy (this is the link). For future reference, you might want to read or re-read it to make sure you understand how the rule works. See also WP:Edit war and WP:List of policies. Coppertwig (talk) 17:33, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

It depends on the wording of each individual lead, but often it sounds redundant as hell to have American football, National Football League, and college football (and in many cases high school football) all in the same couple of sentences. I piped [[college football|collegiately]] on Frank Okam, which should be acceptable. Tromboneguy0186 (talk) 18:37, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

The words you are using do not convey the message you intend. It implies there is more than one draft. In the case of an undrafted free agent, they were not drafted. It is just poor grammar and misleading, IMO.72.0.36.36 (talk) 01:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

His win is being claimed by anonymous sources. We can't include such sources per WP:CRYSTAL. Just wait for the official confirmation which is the usual precedent for events (like sports trades, award wins, draft picks) that don't follow any set pattern like the dates of the Olympics or elections. --Madchester (talk) 15:13, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

ALl-Pros

As I predicted, all that changing of the All-pros you and I thionk ChrisNelson did now needs to be reversed. The wesbite you used for verification hos changed its date to reflect accurately the ALl-Pros. [3] Ted Hendricks is not an 11-time All-Pro.72.0.36.36 (talk) 03:55, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Pennants

Hi. I'd like to politely ask you to please stop following me around and undoing my contributions. I noticed at least half a dozen of my edits have been undone by you right after I did them, and I've noticed that there's been a past history of this. I don't think you'd appreciate if that was done to you whenever you've made a good faith edit. Thanks!

I see there's a difference of opinion as to whether pennant information should be included in the infoboxes for Hall-of-Fame players. I happen to think they should be because being on a pennant-winning team alone is an achievement for any player. But it's a bonus for a player who's already had a career full of accomplishments. Try telling a player that worked all year toward a pennant that that objective is not important, and see what kind of a reaction you'll get. The infoboxes work just like the actual Hall of Fame plaques, where the player's individual and team accomplishments are listed in one place. Furthermore, some of the infoboxes for certain Hall-of-Fame players had this information already, long before I came along. So there's a consistency issue. Feel free to check the edit histories and you'll see they're not all mine.

As I've said before, I'm willing to listen to other points of view and even work out a compromise so nobody feels their work is being overlooked, but you'll have a tough time convincing me that a pennant is not a career highlight (the heading even says "Career Highlights and Awards"). I'm not talking about putting the information in for ALL post-season participants (which is ludicrous), just for Hall-of-Famers and perhaps for non-Hall-of-Famers who have had their numbers retired by their teams. Thanks! Mdb1370 (talk) 05:24, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

"stupid"

Regarding your edit summary on Chris Crocker (American football): Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Summarize civilly, not disruptively as you did here, referring to edits as "stupid". Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing.Myheartinchile (talk) 18:22, 8 June 2008 (UTC) There', happy? But calling what someone has done is very close to calling them stupid in and of themselves and is just as bothersome wouldn't you agree?Myheartinchile (talk) 00:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

thanks dude, and im sure my edits came off as a pain in the ass for one reason or another, sorry.Myheartinchile (talk) 00:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Willie Randolph

Why not include his time as a coach in the infobox? The infobox is the first thing anyone sees in an article and is a summary of his MLB career, so being that he was a coach with the Yankees for 11 seasons and the Yankees are a pro club I think it should be included in the infobox and not just for Willie but for every player, manager or coach in the MLB, similar to the NFL infoboxes in which they have his time as a head coach, administrator, or coordinator in the infobox. 2008 NBA draftees

I noticed that you're adding the team categories i.e, [[Category:Miami Heat players]] to players drafted today. The players still have to sign a contract with their team before they become an actual player on that team. Thanks --Madchester (talk) 01:04, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

We can't jump to the conclusion that each drafted player will automatically sign with their respective NBA club per WP:CRYSTAL. The team only earns a drafter player's negotiating/signing rights; they still have to complete a rookie contract before the player is actually part of the team. --Madchester (talk) 01:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I canceled your reversion of Courtney Lee, because the Lee is not yet a player for the Magic. Drafting a player does not automatically make him a member of that team, and saying otherwise until he is signed to a contract is patently incorrect. It is highly possible that Lee will end up elsewhere, as often happens with draft selections past the top 10 or so. All articles about draftees have been changed to this consistent format for accuracy's sake. Please leave it in this form until such time that Lee signs and is officially on a team roster - which I hope, being a Western alumnus myself, is very soon. If I deleted other changes that had nothing to do with Lee's signing status, my apologies - feel free to restore that material only. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:21, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Win-Loss record

Why is Win-Loss put in the infobox for active players and Win-Loss record for the retired players? Should it not be the same? Jackal4 (talk) 14:58, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about the duplicate posts. WP is slow today. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:23, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I just did a straight revert and didn't notice the formatting changes. Sorry that I stepped all over that, my bad. Feel free to put that back in place. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:34, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
