Possible block
I don't know what your beef is with the coaching history in the infobox and why you hate it so much, but consensus has been reached and that section is here to stay. However, if you continue with you destructive edits, I will be reporting you and requesting you be blocked for a while. You have a history of vandalizing articles and we just can't have that anymore. Beast from da East (talk) 20:35, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- Check the archives. If you have any problems you could just take it to WP:Baseball, like I have told you numerous times, but you insist of vandalizing the articles, that is why you deserve to be blocked. Why can we have managers and not coaches when coaches are huge parts of a team, whether you like it or not. Beast from da East (talk) 20:52, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- On May 11, 2010, I took it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball. I've told you time and time again to offer your opinion and you refused to cooperate and have continued to vandalize several pages. Beast from da East (talk) 20:19, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just look up the history and stop vandalizing the pages its as simple as that. It is not that big of a deal to add the coaching history and it does more good than harm. Beast from da East (talk) 16:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Justin Smoak/Seattle Mariners category
Hey man, if Justin Smoak is in the starting lineup tomorrow for the Mariners which I'm pretty sure will be the case, can you add the Category to his page for me because I'm actually going to be at that game tomorrow. – Michael (talk) 02:04, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've restored the edit you reverted to Buster Posey. He does play first base. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 20:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
It's not his regular position, but he's played several games there. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 05:17, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
He's played 27 games at 1st and 21 at Catcher: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?c_id=sf&playerID=457763 Everard Proudfoot (talk) 05:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Actually, that's not true. They're planning on giving him rest days by playing first. They said so on tonight's game. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 06:07, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

- Two or three years ago? That's great. And I guess Wikipedia is the same as it was two or three years ago, as well... never changing or making advances...

re: top 100 players
Hi Yankees10, I am planning on gradually creating the stubs and just making sure they are all created, given their importance to college football this year. I would love help creating them if you are so inclined.--TM 04:25, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Yankees minor leaguers
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but not every Yankee minor leaguer needs a stub. Like D. J. Mitchell for instance, all it says is that he was promoted to AAA. I think the page is starting to get cluttered and we should pick and choose who we add. --Muboshgu (talk) 02:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, chill out there. I meant no offense, I'm engaging in discussion to improve our coverage of the topic, possibly by covering certain parts less. I'm having second thoughts about the ones I've added myself as I see the page getting cluttered. Well, Olbrychowski and Lockwood definitely; I may remove their entries and speedily delete their redirects. I have no regrets about adding Warren because he seems to be a legit prospect. Is Mitchell? --Muboshgu (talk) 16:22, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK, then that citation should be in the article.--Muboshgu (talk) 16:47, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Curtis Brown (running back)
I contested the prod of Curtis Brown (running back) on the grounds that his official NFL bio states he appeared in 4 preseason games, thereby fulfilling at least the letter of WP:ATHLETE. I have no prejudice towards opening an AfD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:42, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
hey bud, i nominated the article for a DYK, in case you care. :) --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 02:03, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Lucas Duda
On 12 September 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lucas Duda, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

The article Osvaldo Martínez (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. either way (talk) 03:57, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Birth place in birth date parenthetical
Yankees10, please do not continue to revert/reinsert birthplaces in the birth date/lifespan parenthetical in the lead paragraph of football player biographies. This is contrary to the Wikipedia-wide WP:MOS and specifically contrary to the formatting of lead paragraphs and birth dates described in WP:BIO. Birthplaces should be included in the text, not in an expanded birth date/lifespan parenthetical.
Moreover, your reliance on the purported formatting standards of WP:NFL is misplaced. No individual Wikiproject, including WP:NFL, may have different standards than the Wikipedia-wide standards. Local Wikiproject consensus does not trump Wikipedia-wide consensus on the proper formatting of biographical articles. I suspect you know this already. Please advise if we need to submit this to one of the higher WP bodies for resolution.
If you want to see properly formatted NFL biographies, please review the Good Articles listed on the NFL project page. Only the handful that have been altered subsequent to their GA review and approval processes have been formatted in the manner that you refer to as "standard." Thanks. Nomination of The Top 100: NFL's Greatest Players for deletion
A discussion has begun about whether the article The Top 100: NFL's Greatest Players, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Top 100: NFL's Greatest Players until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.
You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Quadzilla99 (talk) 19:04, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Templates
Saw that you just added a Triple Crown template to Chuck Klein. Might it not be worth it to try and roll the winners templates into the main template, so that there's one template linking the accomplishments and the players who made them? All-time roster links on baseball player pages
Yankees, can you please point me in the direction of the WP Baseball discussion that determined the project's consensus re not including links to the the all-time MLB rosters on the player pages? WP Baseball's discussion archives are extensive, to say the least, but I would like to read, understand and honor the baseball project's consensus re the all-time roster links.
On a related topic, however, I am inclined to continue to include Florida Gators program links such as "List of Florida Gators baseball players" for former Gators athletes, "List of University of Florida alumni" for graduates, "List of University of Florida Olympians," etc., as appropriate. I think you will agree that these links are not governed by WP Baseball's consensus. There are approximately 460 articles about former Gators athletes on Wikipedia, including 230+ football players, 55+ basketball players, 55+ swimmers, 40+ baseball players, 40+ golfers and 25+ randoms. Gators baseball players are among the last 50 or so articles to be critically reviewed and upgraded. (And most of these baseball player articles are presently "orphan" stubs.") Like WP Baseball and WP NFL, WP University of Florida is attempting to impose a measure of consistency in formatting, content, and ultimately, writing quality on all of the athlete articles within the scope of WP UF. I hope that you will honor our project standards in the same manner in which we will attempt to honor those of WP Baseball.
BTW, what's the significance of your WP handle? "Yankees," I get, but what's the "10?" Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:44, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Y10, thanks for your response. I will not add any other MLB all-time roster links until this issue has been raised again at the talk page for WP Baseball. Please feel free to raise the question, and I may chime in with examples from football player and swimmer pages. My personal opinion is that 4 or 5 "see also" links is appropriate if they are actually relevant to the subject article.
- BTW, no great mystery about my WP handle, either. "Dirt lawyer" is a slang term used within the legal profession to describe a commercial real estate attorney, which is my principal area of practice, and given the current state of commercial real estate in America, is the reason why I have so much time to spend on WP. Speedy deletion of Template:Current NFL Owners
A tag has been placed on Template:Current NFL Owners requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
