Copyright problems with Nimml[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Nimml, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.vbi.vt.edu/nimm. As a copyright violation, Nimml appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Nimml has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Nimml and send an email with the message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:Nimml with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Nimml.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 04:11, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as NIMML, to Wikipedia, as doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. You may not copy the text from the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute website to Wikipedia; if NIMML is notable enough to have an article, the article must be written in original, free text. Please ask for help if you need clarification on this. —C.Fred (talk) 14:03, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of NIMML[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on NIMML requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Removing Speedy at NIMML[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from NIMML. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 03:16, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. NIMML[edit]

Ymei, I deleted an an article you created (NIMML) in accordance with the request above. I suggest that rather than created individual articles for these organsiations that you create subsections of Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, that may describe the various laboratories it may have. Regards, --RA (talk) 10:41, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RA, I don't know what is your criteria of significance. This lab is doing very important scientific research and the funding the lab has received in the past 5 years has surpassed 15 million US dollars. Tell me how many labs are receiving similar level of support? Many people care a lot about the progresses they are making including myself. Of course, maybe you do not understand this.

Someone deleted my post with copyright issue and I fixed that. And now you came up with another very subjective reason that I guess you probably don't fully understand the importance of their research. But it's indeed very confusing to me. It's this Wikipedia belongs to you editors or everyone. If the latter you editors should treat people respectfully. Thanks! Ymei (talk) 16:17, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor tagged the article for deletion on the basis that it did not indicate the importance of this lab. I agreed with that.
I've looked at the article again. It is a bit of a borderline case so I've restored the article and, rather than "speedily" delete it, I have nominated it for discussion on the basis of whether it meets our notability guidelines.
I'm sorry if you feel you are being overwhelmed and that your article is being unfairly deleted. I suggest you read through what Wikipedia means by "notable" (in particularly for organizations and put your argument for why this laboratory is notable as part of the discussion on this article.

Proposed deletion of Nutritional immunology[edit]

The article Nutritional immunology has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a distinct subject; basically an infomercial for the Nutritional Immunology and Molecular Medicine Laboratory

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
