Ways to improve Calum McSwiggan

[edit]

Hi, I'm Xyzspaniel. Youtubefan90, thanks for creating Calum McSwiggan!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The references need to be improved in order to prove notability, see Wikipedia:Reliable source examples for instance Youtube and Facebook should not be referenced

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

An extended welcome

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I've added a welcome message to the top of this page that gives a great deal of information about Wikipedia. I hope you find it useful.

Additionally, I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Ronz (talk) 23:36, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest policy

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Youtubefan90. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 15:40, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My account has been blocked as I've been assumed to be the same person as Scoopskidoopski - I can see that this block was put in place after Scoopskidoopski made an edit to the page I created for Roly West. We are not the same person and this should be verifiable by my IP address.

Decline reason:

Checkuser verified abuser of multiple accounts. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 01:17, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This block has been emplaced by a checkuser admin, who has access to your IP and also other technical information. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:34, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Was blocked by Bbb23 for being a sock puppet of Scoopskydoopsky - this user isn't me and as previously stated this should be verifiable by an IP address check. I've since tried creating new accounts after the account ban has been lifted but as soon as I start trying to make edits with these accounts they are automatically blocked for being sock puppets of Scoopskydoopsky. This user is not me and we seem to have been linked because they edited the page I created for Roly West. I haven't committed any vandalism and want to continue making helpful edits to wikipedia, as you can see I have done from my contributions history.

Decline reason:

We've done those checks and confirmed the sockpuppetry. Yamla (talk) 13:34, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Does not meet WP:GNG, article creator and other editor that contributed information to the article were blocked for sockpuppetting.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
