Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|India|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Thank you for your feedback on the Wikipedia page submission. I understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines for notability and sourcing. However, the person is very popular in Indian animation studies scene, as you will see his books has been published by the Central Government of India, and he had also received several grants for research in this field. Further more independent and reliable secondary sources will be added to support the content and ensure that it meets Wikipedia's standards. Books published by the Central Government do not inherently make a person notable, nor are these awards notable enough to make the subject notable. Delete. I could be wrong, but it does not appear to award degrees; their website seems to specifically list MBBS and DNB courses without calling them degrees. List of Sanskrit authors from lower communities

Very unclear whether this group of "lower communities" which includes e.g. Sat-Sudra (considered higher castes), is a commonly accepted grouping with a clear definition, or some division created specifically for this article. Also not clear if the topic (Sanskrit texts by caste division) is a topic of study and whether these people are grouped together scholarly, or if this is some novel WP:SYNTH list. The Wikipedia article of Sat-Sudra is very badly written. I have suggested an edit but my edit is reverted. Please check. Sat-shoodras are only higher than other shudras (asat shudras) and lower than every other varna. That is, Lower than Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishya. See the note on sat-shoodra there. Caste boundaries can't be clearly defined due to their complexities. The main castes are mentioned themselves which are considered lower nonetheless. Sat-shoodra only highlights their status in varna system. This is a dynamic list and more people from other communities can be added by everyone. The topic of debate has always been whether lower communities have contributed to sanskrit among scholars. References are unreliable as they are churnalism and WP:NEWSORGINDIA. Tagged for notability hoping better sources would be introduced but tag was removed without improvement. The only bylined sources I found were this which is churnalism based off a press release (there are a few others you will find in a WP:BEFORE, and this which is three paragraphs and about one of the actors (only a paragraph about the series). Keep: There are enough sources with significant coverage of the subject; BBC Marathi and the South China Morning Post are particularly promising. Clearly passes WP:GNG, GNG requires significant coverage of the subject, and these two coverages are not trival at all. I want to add a few more points. First of all, this AfD does not fulfill WP:AFDHOWTO, as the nominator did not notify the author. Secondly, I want to counter the nominator’s claim that ‘the article relies primarily on trivial coverage from entertainment news.’ My response to this is, that a person related to finance or business will naturally not receive news coverage from entertainment sources, similarly this person will not get coverage from finance-related articles. It is perfectly normal for someone to receive coverage within their relevant niche. Keep @Joseph2302, It is the largest tournament in East and North East India and it's one of the important leagues in India, I presume after a few years it will have same importance as Tamil Nadu Premier League or KSCA tournament, I believe this article should be kept. Beside that, can you please highlight the main issue in this article other than the coverage. A league can't be famous in just one season, it needs time, and this league had enough coverage being a new league according to what I saw in the internet and from the residents of West Bengal. Keep Please check the Tamil Nadu Premier League pages, including those dedicated to individual annual editions like the 2022 Tamil Nadu Premier League, 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League, and 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League. Separate pages exist for each team as well. Similarly, the Delhi Premier League T20, which is also organized under the directions of Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI, has gained significant coverage after the successful completion of its seasons. Given this, it would be beneficial for Wikipedia readers to have dedicated pages for each annual edition of the Delhi Premier League T20, as well as individual pages for each team, similar to those for Tamil Nadu Premier League teams like Salem Spartans, Chepauk Super Gillies, and Lyca Kovai Kings.

Note Several Twenty20 pages have existed includimg thier annual leagues for many years, and in my opinion, it is not appropriate to nominate them for deletion.

It appears that certain teams are selectively promoting specific and state-level leagues while pushing for the deletion of others. This practice seems to favor the retention of pages related to their preferred leagues, potentially at the expense of others.

Wikipedia is a global platform that should uphold the principle of equality for all pages that have significant coverage. It's important to ensure that all state and national leagues with significant covearge, regardless of their popularity or backing, are treated fairly and given the opportunity to be represented. Consistent and unbiased application of Wikipedia's guidelines is crucial to maintaining its integrity as a reliable and inclusive source of information. I want to draw everyone’s attention to Wikietiquette Article for Deletion, WP:AFDEQ, especially on the fourth point “Do not make unsourced negative comments about living people. These may be removed by any editor.” I would recommend editors to be unbalanced and take a constructive approach here, given that it concerns a living person.

First, the claim that the article has "obvious undisclosed paid editing" is not correct, as I have already explained before. Additionally, the assertion that he gives “interviews on paid promotional sources” is baseless. Which interviews specifically are paid? Those with The Times of India on hate speech, NDTV, Bloomberg, or discussions on caste and income in The Indian Express, The Hindu, The Telegraph, New Indian Express, or the op-eds on LGBT rights? Just a simple Google search shows that subject has several engagements. And his bio is openly available across academic space to help people create his profile.

It may be reasonable to debate the subject’s notability, it is inappropriate to dismiss their legitimate work as “paid” without evidence. Thanks a lot @Jlwoodwa for your comment. The comments made here on 1. “obvious” undisclosed paid editing 2. “paid PR articles” and 3. interviews on “paid promotional” sources, make unsourced negative claims about the subject and his work, which affects their reputation in this public space. This is not in line with Wikietiquette policy.

The article cites several reputed and credible secondary sources from the Indian media specifically covering the subject and his work. After this discussion, I agree there are some primary sources which can be removed, and the article can be modified to Wiki standards. The article has been put twice by two different editors in the mainspace.

I understand that editors can put any article to AfD, but I agree with Wikietiquette that AfD should not become a place for making unsubstantiated claims about the work of a living person. Keep, while a lot of the sources aren't at par with what I'd expect when looking for WP:BLPRS, I do believe there are atleast three reliable sources that satisfy the bar for notability:
- [10] is a article in The Hindu talks in detail about a paper the individual coauthored.
- [11] is another article in The Hindu that talks about a study he lead.
- [12] is another article in The Telegraph (India) that talks about research that he lead.
- [13] is another article in Indian Express that also talks about his research.

Sorry, but I disagree. Many are passing mentions coming from a report released by the Indian Institute of Management. The Hindu article has no byline and the impact of the report is nowhere to be seen. The second Hindu article is authored by a freelance journalist and a study/ report done with 2 others. 3 has some interview bytes and 4 only mentions his name once.

The position of Assistant Professor at IIM Bangalore doesn't carry much weight when evaluating for WP:NACADEMIC. I believe the extensive coverage about the latest report is only because it is related to Karnataka's govt, which i beleive only makes it as routine coverage.

The fact that the teams are mostly non notable players (with 1-2 exceptions per team) makes it no surprise to me that this season article doesn't pass WP:GNG independently of general coverage about tournament creation which is relevant mainly to the parent article Delhi Premier League T20. I ran through some of the wikilinks on the other officers on the page and they are well sourced with good significant coverage with life, career, education, decorations and that is all the kind of notable coverage I am considering to warrant a full fledged page on the subject. Example Sulkhan Singh. The page nominated for this AFD fails WP:SIGCOV and even the birth date though sourced but cannot even tell out of the many Prashant Kumar in the source, which one it is? that is why I thought maybe a redirect or merge would be better. UTUC(B) was a notable organization for a few years in early 2000s (a period from which we don't find a lot of online sources of regional news media online). Here is coverage on KMML issue [18], [19]. Note to closer: I am a frequent recipient of harassment and targeting by an incredibly pertinacious sockmaster-[21] who created more than a dozen burner accounts in just the past year solely to target me. The most recent examples are this- in which his IP/proxy removed my PROD on the article Katoch-Sikh war, 2 admins have stated that this was almost certainly HB block evading- [26] + [27]. He has also employed meat puppetry to target AFDs and PRODs. Note that this IP also created a draft for Katoch-Sikh war, the same page HB's sock targeted, very heavily indicating sockpuppetry/meatpuppetry at play here. Note: In addition to very obviously being HB's sock/meatpuppet, you can see the IP and the account are clearly operated by the same person since they both submitted their drafts (Battle of Rori Sahib, Battle of Ambala, and Katoch Sikh war) minutes apart from each other-[30] + [31]. At the very very least, these votes should be accorded zero weight and obviously proves my point of a sock/meat campaign to target AFDs/reinstate articles which aggrandize their religion.
