Capitalizing an article name[edit]

I would like to capitalize "lucano" to "Lucano" in the article name, Calore lucano, so it conforms to capitalization conventions. How do I do this?-Schnurrbart (talk) 03:25, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Two articles with same name and no disambiguation?? Multiple issues here[edit]

Alright, I'll just throw out there the article that brought up this question. Mark Ingram, when typed in the search bar, links to the ex-NFL wide receiver Mark Ingram, father of the Mark Ingram currently the 1st string halfback for the University of Alabama. There is no disambiguation page to choose which Mark Ingram to select, and furthermore, in the article about the father, the son player is mentioned as Marc Ingram, Jr., and also blue-linked to. When you click this link, however, it redirects back to the father's page, who is certainly not named Mark Ingram Jr. I believe there should be a link at the top of the Ingram Sr.'s article saying "This article is about the ex-NFL wide receiver Mark Ingram; for his son, the halfback at the University of Alabama, see Mark Ingram, Jr.", but I don't understand how to do this exactly. Furthermore, there is likely a page created for the son (he is the base of the offense on a team that is in the top 5) and the blue-link is just incorrectly redirecting back to the father, but I don't know how to find this page either. As you point out, the article links from the father to the son, but the son's link Mark Ingram Jr. redirects to the father's article Mark Ingram. As the son currently has no article, this should be a redlink. Proposed article w/ COI implications[edit]

I've created a proposed article in my user subspace about a prominent event planner/designer in Chicago named Marina Birch. Disclosure: I have a potential conflict of interest with the subject, as we do have a professional and personal relationship. So before I move it into the mainspace, I wanted to run this past the Help Desk and see if anyone had suggestions about the tone, structure or anything I might have missed. First - thank you for posting this in your sandbox before posting to the mainspace... Now for a couple of comments: (1) it sounds too much like a canned bio, probably because of the overuse of the sirname, Birch; (2) re-review WP:SPAM as there are some things which make it sound like advertisement, such as her rates; (3) while the article is well references, I'm still not convinced that she is notable; (4) there is no need to have wikilinks for well known terms such as wedding, but it would be great to see more content which references other wiki articles. I'd still wait to move it as it will still be speedily deleted as non-notable. Review the things above and lets see what other people notice as well. Good luck. Thank you for the feedback, Tiggerjay. To address your concerns: (1) It's definitely not canned; it's all original text and written from from sources, mostly news covage. But I have now tweaked it a bit and there were indeed a few sentences that began "Birch ... Birch ... Birch" but now they do not. (2) I'm pretty familiar w/ WP:SPAM, and did review. I don't believe this article goes against any of those provisions, however I agree with you that the rates, while cited, are not necessarily appropriate. I have removed that sentence and one stating how many projects she works per year. (3) I do believe she is strictly notable per the general guideline: the sources are principally from articles where she is the primary subject, and reflect a mix of Chicago business news and industry publications. (4) Good call -- pulled those wikilinks. I think these are solid improvements. Let me know what you think, and also would appreciate other thoughts, as well. Thanks for the suggestion. However, I notice Peer review states it is generally "intended for high-quality articles that have already undergone extensive work, often as a way of preparing a featured article candidate." I'd rather not waste their time, and with Tiggerjay's suggestions taken into consideration, I believe this article is in good shape. Certainly I think it is highly unlikely as a candidate for speedy deletion. However, if anyone feels strongly that this is not the case, I would certainly appreciate a policy-based explanation. The best way would be for it to have its own wikipedia entry. Before you create an article, please see WP:YFA but since you're speaking of "our fraternity", you have a conflict of interest so it would be better to request a page creation instead. How to pass HTML as a parameter to a template?[edit]

Consider Template:Foo which just prints its argument:

When I call:

{{Foo|2<span style="color:green">♣</span>}}

I get:

{{{1}}}

When I call:

{{Foo|2♣}}

I get 2♣ as expected.

I am somewhat confused. What are you looking for? The green? Use this then:

<span style="color:green">{{{1}}}</span>

I realize that this isolated example seems silly, the template I am working on is more complicated. I would like the Foo template to print whatever parameter is passed, and the parameter will be of form 2♣, 3♥, 5♦. So the digit always black, and the suit denomination is colored appropriately. Yeah, you can do this:

Thanks for your help. I would like to avoid the extra arg... My real template invocation is now:

With four more args it would look even more convoluted. Do you know why html code won't parse in a template argument?

Shouldn't

#if: {{{1|}}} rowspan={{{1}}}

be wrapped in tags like

{{#if:{{{1|}}}|rowspan={{{1}}}}}

The code

transcludes the template 'Foo' with parameter '2<span style' set to '"color:green">♣</span>'. To transclude 'Foo' with parameter '1' set to '2<span style="color:green">♣</span>', you need to use

{{Foo|1=2<span style="color:green">♣</span>}}

Thank you, that does the trick. The problem was with the equals sign in the value which confused the parser, I see it now.

Template:Plot/sandbox on French Wikipedia[edit]

Can I create a redirect to one of my workpages?[edit]

I have (pretty terrible, but I plan to fix them up later) workpages for User:occono/Hijinks Ensue and User:Occono/Lee Stranahan. Can I make pages in the article namespace that redirect to them, i.e. Hijinks Ensue redirecting to my workpage for it? How does one initiate an AfD for an image?[edit]

This image (File:Owteen.jpg) was recently added as an example of "A teenager with Bardet-Biedl syndrome" in the article on the genetic syndrome Bardet-Biedl syndrome. I suspect the image may be vandalism or unauthorized use because 1) there is no verifiable citation that would indicate the person in this image really has BBS, and 2) there is zero descriptive info about the image. I am unfamiliar with how to tag a suspected bogus image for getting it reviewed and removed. Any help? N2e (talk) 22:48, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
