How can I find out if a featured article has made it into a future release version?

[edit]

On the main page Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations, it says that all FAs are automatically nominated, but not where or by whom. I have gotten three FAs and at least two of them seem important enough to make it in, but I have no way to find out if the people in charge think the same. Tezero (talk) 00:40, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you've already been to Wikipedia talk:Release Version Nominations. That's where I'd suggest asking if you don't get an answer here. It may also help to read all the talk page archives to get an idea of what sorts of questions get answers there. Note that Wikipedia has a lot of quasi-inactive projects, as volunteers sometimes lose interest or go on to other things. You might have to figure out who is in charge of this project and ask on their user talk page(s). Sometimes you can identify the main contributors by reading the history of a project page and seeing who answers the tough questions on the talk page. But sometimes you get lucky on the Help desk, so watch this space for a few days. Sorry for this weak reply, that's all I know about this. --Teratornis (talk) 01:37, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over three million articles, and thought that we were directly affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is a help desk for asking questions related to using the encyclopedia. Thus, we have no inside track on the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. Adding our Company in WIKIpedia Articles

[edit]

Hello,

We are a registered firm approved by government of INDIA under 1956 ACT with a name of *******SYS software solutions PVT LTD.

How to add our article ?

Thanks, Dev. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.98.202.161 (talk) 06:22, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Wizard is available to walk you through these steps. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

You will need to first register an account, which has many benefits, including the ability to create articles. Once you have registered, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Please also review a few of our relevant policies and guidelines which all articles should comport with. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, articles must not contain original research, must be written from a neutral point of view, should cite to reliable sources which verify their content and must not contain unsourced, negative content about living people.
Articles must also demonstrate the notability of the subject. Please see our subject specific guidelines for people, bands and musicians, companies and organizations and web content and note that if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends against you creating the article.
If you still think an article is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article, and please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. An Article Wizard is available to walk you through creating an article, but you will need to create an account to use it. if you don't wish to do so, you can submit a proposal for an article at Articles for Creation. Kayau Voting IS evil 06:31, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To emphasise a point made in the standard text Kayau posted above: If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends against you creating the article. If you can demonstrate (with independent reliable sources) that your company does meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability, then your best course is to go to WP:requested articles with your citations. --ColinFine (talk) 13:39, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You should also read our conflict of interest policy. From your comments you appear to be affilitaed with the company and that gives you a conflict of interest. You should really refrain from creating the article about your company. If you believe your company meets the notability guidliens mentioned above you should submit the article to the articles for creation process. ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 13:40, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If they do create an article, is that an offense that could result in being blocked? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Suomi Finland 2009 (talkcontribs) 17:30, 15 August 2010
Not necessarily. If they create the article, there's a good chance it will simply be deleted (writing your first article is tough). But if they continue to create the article or advertise after being asked to stop, that is when they may be blocked. TNXMan 18:25, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong namespace for article

[edit]

The page Template:INSEE Police United FC has all the appearance of an article, yet has been placed in Template namespace. It has no coding within it which suggests that future use as a template has been considered. Nothing links to it, and nothing transcludes it. The page seems to have much in common with Police United F.C., but has differences which suggest that Template:INSEE Police United FC is the draft for a new version of Police United F.C.. Should Template:INSEE Police United FC be (a) put through a deletion process (which one would be best?); (b) moved to article space as INSEE Police United FC, or (c) userfied to User:Oppufc/INSEE Police United FC? --Redrose64 (talk) 12:19, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please add name

[edit]

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Dream_Focus#list

Please add Justine Joli (read her article first to verify) then add her name to List of female performers in lesbian porn films.

Please add this for me. Thank you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Suomi Finland 2009 (talkcontribs) 17:21, 15 August 2010

Suomi, you can add it yourself. You seem to be concerned with your username being associated with the topic, but you created the article, so it's already in the history.--BelovedFreak 17:53, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
2-3 edits is ok but I want to keep any edits to porn articles at a minimum. Otherwise I feel like I have to wipe the computer screen and wash my hands. Eeuuuw. Please help! Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 18:15, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go ahead and add it, but I think the list has bigger problems. It's up for deletion and the general consensus so far appears to be leaning towards deletion. TNXMan 18:23, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just added two references to this article. I just want to confirm that this was done correctly and will be avoiding deletion.

image upload

[edit]

Am i allowed to upload my own images to an article about me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewhitey1 (talkcontribs) 22:17, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you would like to upload images, please follow the instructions listed on this page. Please note, however, that you have a conflict of interest and are highly discouraged from editing articles about yourself. TNXMan 02:19, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming you are a Wikinotable person who has an article and would like to contribute an image of yourself, suitably licenced for Wikipedia (must allow commercial use), the answer is that you shoud preferably upload the photo to Wikimedia Commons, which the allows its use in all language Wikipedias. The addition of such a photo does not come under WP:COI (imho). After all, it is is a photo of you, you'd want a good quality one rather than a poor quality one, wouldn't you? Mjroots (talk) 13:08, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Uploading of suitably licensed photos is actively encouraged; see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Photographs and media files -- John of Reading (talk) 13:23, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to determine defaultsort

[edit]

In my recently created Category:Roman bridges in France, some bridges are sorted by Pont, others only by their second part (like Flavien). Same problem arises with Italian Ponte in the Category:Roman bridges in Italy. Which way is correct? I would like to have consistency. Gun Powder Ma (talk) 22:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that they should be sorted on the second part; otherwise they would all begin with P ! GrahamHardy (talk) 02:11, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think you might get a second opinion at WT:CAT, but it seems logical to me to categorize these by the distinct part of the name, as we do with surnames. We don't name bridges in English with bridge ordered first normally, but if we did, and there were 1,000 articles called Bridge ___, I would think sorting them using {{DEFAULTSORT:____, bridge}} would make sense, so you could just boldly sort these as {{DEFAULTSORT:____, Pont. I was trying to think of an analogous situation where the generic word often comes first to see if my intuition has any basis in application, and I came up with "mount". The three that came to mind and which I checked Mount Shasta, Mount Washington, and Mount Everest, are all categorized in this way, i.e., name, mount so there's your precedent. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:04, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You've convinced me. If GrahamHardy does not object, I am going to put in also the generic name, so that the defaultsort will have uniformly the structure: Flavien, Pont. This will also help to avoid ambiguity such as in these cases.
But how should I categorize names such as Ponte di Quintodecimo or Pont du Gard? A. Quintodecimo, Ponte di or B. Di Quintodecimo, Ponte? Gun Powder Ma (talk) 09:19, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A ! GrahamHardy (talk) 12:49, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. And in case such as the Roman Bridge (Saint-Thibéry) where Saint-Thibéry is also the name of the neighbouring town? Gun Powder Ma (talk) 15:49, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Puente Romano (Mérida) is a tricky one, too. The only viable solution appears to me Mérida, Puente Romano. Agree? Gun Powder Ma (talk) 17:16, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir-Maddam Today I am writing to you! August 01 2010 my facebook account was disabled. I am so sad and very much disappointed for this, and I am realy sorry if I'd violated your web page by doing some wrong action that caused disable of my account.

Please alow me te explain you what I was doing , I was just sharing some videoklips from Youtube with my friends on FB, and suddenly I couldn't share the vidoeclips anymore. After e restore my PC and tryed to login at may FB account I received the message that my account was disabled. Yes, it's tru a night before I was warned several times by receiving the mesage telling me about misusing the features of the facebook limits, but I didn't take this for very serious warning, so I continued sharing the videoclips and I am so sorry for this now. Considering that this is the very first time I made this stupid mistake and considering a lack of knowledge's regarding to management and proper usage of my facebook account I hope that your facebook team of experts will accept my apology, and consider my requirement to enable my account. i h"Ve used a this profile a long time ago maybe 6 years I think that this is not fair from your facebook team and strongly believe that you are going to meet my requirements. I really, really do hope and would highly appreciate enable of my account. There are so many friends on my list there, so many messages on my Inbox, so many photo Albums of me and my friends and comments on them, so many links and groups I belong, so many causes I've supported, more than 2000 friends on my list, the real intelectual property, also Poetry staff i hve the Alot of Notes , a great treasure I am going to loose. It will be a real disaster for me, if you won't enable my account again.

Please, if there is any ...any possibility to enable my account back, do this as soon as possible.

Respectfully Yours
