Linking to other wikis[edit]

How would I link a word so that it internally links the the home of page of a different language wikipedia. I'm designing a template right now, and one of the options is Espanol, which Spanish speaking users are supposed to click on. How do I do this? Thanks. If you can keep it from being documented by reliable sources then WP is not going to record it since we only report things that are verifiable. RJFJR (talk) 07:15, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the other hand, if you do receive significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources, someone will probable post an article about you. So the only sure way to assure that Wikipedia does not have an article about you is to never accomplish anything notable. If you do become notable, one sure way to avoid having an article stand about you is to write a promotional piece about yourself, recreating it every time is it deleted. Because of Wikipedia’s hatred of self-promotion the article will be speedily deleted, and the title will be protected, making it difficult for someone else to write about you. —teb728 t c 08:54, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia won't have an article about you if you don't do anything notable, but we can't speak for all the other wikis out there. May I ask why you're worried about this? Adrian J. Hunter^{(talk•contribs)} 09:27, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You could be careful to do all of your notable work under an impenetrable pseudonym, or hire someone else to take all the credit for whatever you accomplish, perhaps instructing your estate attorneys to reveal the truth after your demise. (Presumably you wouldn't mind posthumous coverage in Wikipedia, given that no evidence suggests corpses mind anything.) Another option is to move to a country that has poor coverage in Wikipedia, for example our coverage of many parts of Africa lags our coverage of most of the more industrialized countries. Or you could work for the Central Intelligence Agency, which keeps the identity of many of its agents secret. Note that many of the people who have biographical articles in Wikipedia had to go out of their way to become famous - they had to compete for the limited opportunities for fame. Only a few people have fame thrust upon them without trying (such as for example Prince William). Are you trying to become famous? Why doesn't my photo show up in my gallery?[edit]

I uploaded a new photo ( [[1]] ) today. The other image I uploaded yesterday shows up under my uploads: [[2]] but the new one does not. Request History Merge USS Kansas City (CA-128) and Kansas City (CA-128)[edit]

The page USS Kansas City (CA-128) was "moved" to Kansas City (CA-128) by deleting all of the text in the first article and putting in a redirect and copying all of the text to the new article. While the user who moved it is formally correct that USS only applies to ships which have been put into service, the FAQ for USS_Kentucky_(BB-66), a note in USS Hawaii (CB-3) and every other article in Category:United States Navy proposed ships indicate that the USS should be kept. I would like the new edits moved from Kansas City (CA-128) into a restored USS Kansas City (CA-128) and Kansas City (CA-128) made into a redirect. Is this the place for that request?

That would be unwise. I would expect it to be Speedily deleted in minutes. It is a biography with no references, contrary to policy. I realize you have something labeled as a reference, but it is not properly formed as a reference. See Referencing for beginners for help. However, converting that to a reference doesn't solve the problem, as IMDB is not accepted as a Reliable Source. It is permissible to use in some circumstances, but if that's the only reference you have, it is likely that it will not be considered acceptable.

If Tomas meets the Notability guidelines, surely there are some references out there.--SPhilbrick T 18:41, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
