Watchlisting only a talk page?[edit]

I would like to add a talk page to my watchlist without adding the associated article page. I tried the instructions at Wikipedia:Hide Pages in Watchlist but, for some reason, they do not seem to work.

.watchlist-0-Texas_Task_Force_2_Urban_Search_&_Rescue { display: none; }

Did you make sure to bypass your browser's cache using the instructions at the top of your vector.css page? That should be your first step to "troubleshoot this". Second, do you have enhanced recent changes enabled? If so, replace what you inserted with the following.

.mw-changeslist-ns0-cladribine { display: none; }
.mw-changeslist-ns0-Texas_Task_Force_2_Urban_Search_&_Rescue { display: none; }

In addition, check the link Special:MyPage/skin.css. Does it go to User:Bwrs/vector.css? If not, you probably aren't using the vector skin. I suggest putting everything for .js and .css into Special:MyPage/common.css so they'll work on all of your skins (if they're compatible). Ryan Vesey 03:48, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The instructions did not say which page to reload, so I cleared the cache completely and restarted the browser. Also, I got to user:Bwrs/vector.css by going to Special:MyPage/skin.css as directly linked to from the instructions. But maybe I should move it to user:bwrs/common.css and see what happens? I advise people to use their common.css pages in general, but I think you should attempt making the modification I described above because I can only assume you have enhanced recent changes enabled. If that doesn't work, I suggest you go to Wikipedia:Village Pump/Technical. Let them know what browser you're using. I also want to make sure that the problem you are having is that the articles Cladribine and Texas Task Force 2 Urban Search & Rescue both still appear in your watchlist. Is that correct? See WP:ELNO. An article should contain links to the subject's official website, but this does not include social media such as Facebook. The airport's facebook page is not germane to the article. How do I add references from a book?[edit]

I want to edit the Bowser (character) article with some info I have, but it's in a book. Instead of [{cite web}], what should I use? I'm guessing that page number replaces URL Darrman1 (talk) 10:33, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Licensed lyrics provider?[edit]

Fearless (Pink Floyd song) includes, under 'External links', a link to a copyvio lyrics site. I was about to nuke this when I noticed that someone has added a note to the link saying that this site is a "licensed lyrics provider". I find this very hard to believe, so is there any reason why I shouldn't delete the link? --Viennese Waltz 16:21, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind - I've just found User:LyricsBot. I have to say that I am very dubious about the assertion that Metrolyrics is not a copyvio site. It has King Crimson lyrics, for example, and I know for a fact that Robert Fripp (who holds the copyright to those lyrics, despite not having written them) would NEVER license anything to such a site. --Viennese Waltz 16:27, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. There's no doubt that they have a deal with GraceNotes, who are a licensing agency, but I have to begin to wonder myself if all of the content is legal. They say here that they have a legal database of 700,000 songs, but also that they have "over 1,000,000 music lyrics". Their FAQ says that lyric correction is disabled on songs that are "artist approved" (http://www.metrolyrics.com/faq.html). Does that mean that the ones that permit reader correction are not licensed? Yes, and even if they do have a deal with Gracenote, how does that help us to determine whether it's OK to link to the site per Wikipedia:ELNEVER#Restrictions on linking ? Where is the evidence that they have a legal database of lyrics at all, and furthermore that lyric correction is disabled on some of them? And where is the evidence that the copyright holder of that Pink Floyd lyric, for example, has licensed it to Gracenote? There's no reason to doubt that some of the links are authorized - per [1] for instance. However, it does look like 30% or more of their lyrics may not be authorized. They allow people to submit lyrics to songs they do not find (http://www.metrolyrics.com/add.html), and I'm almost certain that the one you mention above is not licensed, since they permit modification of it. Modification is not permitted, for instance, of this Adele song, which would lend to a likeliness that Adele's song is authorized. I suspect the question should be revisited at the village pump and that we're either going to have to come up with a more nuanced way for the bot to assess legality or stop linking them altogether. --Moonriddengirl ^(talk) 11:55, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Diff viewer[edit]

Article titles in italics[edit]

Normally, when you create an article, the title appears at the very top in giant text (e.g., "American Civil War"). However, articles on books and movies have their titles italicized (e.g., "Gone With the Wind").
