Inaccurate information about me / libel[edit]

CKY (band)

The above link contains factually incorrect information about my involvement and departure from the band. Specifically, I was not fired. I left to pursue my education. Also, there are comments about me that I consider to be libelous - "...although Ginsburg has said that Bruni "sucked and wasn't rock", also labelling him an embarrassment' and 'Ginsburg described Bruni, simply, as "boring".[3]' I see that they are sourced to a website that no longer exists or has an incorrect link. Please advise if any of my requests cannot be addressed. If needed, I will pursue other avenues to help make these corrections. Ultimately, both the inaccurate information about my departure and the libelous comments referenced above need to be removed from the URL immediately.

Thank you,

RB — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankenfooter (talkcontribs) 00:40, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the only sources cited for this were CKY themselves - and thus entirely inappropriate per WP:RS and WP:BLP policy - I have removed the material. Any such material would have to be sourced to reputable third party sources before inclusion could be considered. AndyTheGrump (talk) 01:13, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How To Disable => After Edit Saved, Prompt to Edit "Similar Article"?[edit]

Hello Staff - very recently (on 09/11/2014), I noticed that after an edit was "saved", a new prompt feature now appears prompting a "similar article" to edit - this new prompt notes => "Green tickY Your edit was saved. X Edit a similar article. [and includes an Image/Title (of some other article)]" - and seems to require clicking the X to remove - at the moment, I find this new prompt distracting and would prefer disabling this new feature - how might I do this? - Thanking you in advance for your reply - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 01:39, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding more detail. After some searching, I found this at mw:Task recommendations, and have posted on the talk page there to see if anyone can answer your question. I see that your account was registered so long ago that it has no recorded creation date (ListUsers) - that may be why the software is treating you as a new user. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:30, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading - Thank you for your comments - and help with this concern - Brief followup - related information about my original registration date may be noted on the following userbox code if interested =>

This user has been a member of Wikipedia since well before December 1, 2005 [1].

(or here => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2010_October_5#What_Is_My_Registration_Date.3F ) - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 13:21, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done - Hey all. This was T72759, caused because some users do not have their registration date recorded correctly in the database. The issue has been resolved. Only newly-registered accounts should be getting any recommendations. Sorry for any confusion or annoyance. Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 23:39, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Steven (WMF) - Thank you *very much* for your help with this concern - it's *very much* appreciated - Thanks again - and - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 00:38, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How to add a new company article[edit]

How to add a new article about a company in wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by SankarSasikumar (talkcontribs) 05:44, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Your first article. Pay particular attention to the "Things to avoid" section. And if you work for the company, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. —teb728 t c 09:11, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

how to use referencing in an article of mia baudot[edit]

Mia Baudot (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

i point to her website... is that not enough — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.197.48.120 (talk) 05:49, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not enough. Please read Wikipedia:Notability. Maproom (talk) 07:28, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Next time you create an article may I commend the WP:AFC process to you. You have created a promotional article about an perosn where you have not demonstrated notability. It is highly likely to be deleted very soon. Fiddle Faddle 14:51, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

how to change the title of the page?[edit]

To whom it may concern,

I have created the page "Alarice international" but have just noticed that I wrote international instead of 'International'.

I cannot delete the page and start a new one under a new title and cannot seem to edit the title either.

Could you please change it or tell me how I can?

Best, Natalia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natalia Tail (talkcontribs) 09:22, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Changing the title is a matter of moving the article to a new title. One must achieved a certain user status by one's work beofre that ability is granted. Fiddle Faddle 09:28, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong link[edit]

There is a wrong link in the page Les Franqueses del Vallès. In the last phrase of the municipality description ("It is divided into five neighbourhoods: Bellavista, Corró d'Amunt, Corró d'Avall, Llerona and Marata."), Marata is linked to "Maratà" in Brazil, and that's wrong. The right page doesn't exist yet. I don't know how to fix. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eliadelom (talkcontribs) 09:53, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I changed it to a piped red link.[2] PrimeHunter (talk) 10:35, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

creating a page[edit]

Hi-i have written a page and pressed "Save Page" but it doesn't seem to be appearing in Wikipedia. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any assistance would be good. Cheers, Daniel — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farrah44 (talkcontribs) 10:48, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pages which you have saved can be seen at Special:Contributions/Farrah44, accessible through the "Contributions" link at the top of any Wikipedia page. If you wanted your draft User:Farrah44/Sydney Walkers to become a Wikipedia article, you would need to submit it for review va the green "Submit" button in the box at the top of the page, but there is no point in your doing so at present, as you have not demonstrated that the subject is notable in Wikipedia's terms, and you have no references to reliable sources to satisfy Wikipedia's requirement for WP:verifiability. I have included some useful links on your user talk page, and I recommend that you read them, and particularly Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:03, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

cantuse[edit]

I guess I don't know how to use this dictionary. I want to look up English words and nothing comes up with the diff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.176.134.97 (talk) 11:42, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, your major confusion is because this is an encyclopedia, not a dictionary. Perhaps you were looking for Wiktionary? --David Biddulph (talk) 11:52, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on The Hype Magazine[edit]

Reference help requested.

A Bot signaled an reference error on The Hype Magazine article however, I used error check and it found none. I am not sure what is causing this error message. Please help.Chastized (talk) 12:36, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Chastized (talk) 12:36, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the error message, the word "help" was in blue, indicating that it was a WP:wikilink. The link went to Help:CS1 errors#wikilink in url. The error in your reference has subsequently been corrected by another user in this edit. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:43, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review issue[edit]

Not really sure where to go with this since I didn't see a "help" thing at PR, so I'll try here. I started a peer review for an article (Wikipedia:Peer review/Thirteen (Megadeth album)/archive2) today, only to find that it had been archived and closed by a bot a mere 30 minutes later. Can someone explain to me why this was closed, or if I will be able to immediately renominate, since this seems to be an error on the part of the bot? Thanks--L1A1 FAL (talk) 15:23, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For now, I have simply undone the bot's edits. I hope that is not a problem. I have also let the bot's master know of the issue--L1A1 FAL (talk) 15:33, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Laptop touch screen not working[edit]

Hi I have a Sony vaio fit 15 touchscreen laptop and the touch screen has randomly stopped working, I'm currently running windows 8.1 I've tried disable the USB power options like advised and also searching for the touchscreen in the HID but can't find it, I have also performed a system restore to when it was working and even that didn't work... Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rowen.heath (talkcontribs) 21:49, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Rowen.heath: I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 6 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:57, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help to stop some Users adding the success of former Yugoslavia (until 1992 including Croatia, Bosnia and Slovenia) to the article of the Serbian team FIBA does NOT add this success to the success of the federal republic (after 1992) and Serbia [3] (page 12) Before the World Championship final this weekend very much people will read this article. --Yoda1893 (talk) 23:16, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good faith disagreements are NOT vandalism. If you are interested in being involved in making the article better, you will stop mischaracterizing the good-faith work of others as vandalism. Please read Wikipedia:Vandalism and try to understand it before you use the word again. It doesn't mean that their edits are correct (and my saying that also doesn't mean that they are NOT correct), however we don't solve disagreements between editors who both are earnestly trying to make Wikipedia better by calling the good-faith work of others vandalism. Instead we discuss the matter on the talk page of the article in a civil manner until we arrive at an agreement on how to proceed. That's how you make Wikipedia better. As long as you are here to "win", you're in the wrong place and you'll get no help. --Jayron32 01:47, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
