December 14[edit]

Abraham lincoln[edit]

my daughter just googled Abraham Lincoln, which lead her to your wiki site. unfortunately, the background view of the page on Lincoln, is a pornographic picture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.226.243 (talk) 03:35, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The edit history of Abraham Lincoln looks stable and I see no such content in recent revisions: Abraham Lincoln: Revision history. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 03:54, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Finnusertop: There was a bit of vandalism on a template that transcluded pornographic images to a bunch of articles. While the template has been corrected the image is still cached in a lot of pages (and for whatever reason that cached page only shows up to anon users). I have purged the page and that should fix the problem. The WMF is running a cleaning script to try to purge the rest of the pages but it is going to take a while (5 million pages to go through). For more information please see this ANI thread for more info. --Stabila711 (talk) 04:14, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, and my apologies to the IP editor above. Their observation seem to have been correct after all. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 04:17, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pomegranates[edit]

Wikipedia had wrong info about the name of this band. They were listed as being 'Healing Power', which they were for a short time, but changed their name back to Pomegranates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sosifrk (talkcontribs) 03:40, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article was tagged with notability issues, but I located a bit of coverage and removed the tag. I also found a source for their back-and-forth renaming. The major issues seemed resolved, but if there are remaining ones, they can be discussed on the article's talk page. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 15:04, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help please[edit]

On my mobile and iPhone the most recent edit changes of all Wikipedia articles cannot be seen. The page's history indicate that edits have been done often in the last 2 or more days but you cannot see these edits. On my lap top it is allowed. Please explain thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.189.56.6 (talk) 06:05, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IP user. You are not the first person to report this: Srbernadette did just above. The best place to ask about this sort of problem is at the Technical section of the Village Pump. On a quick look, I don't see that anybody has raised this question there already, so it would be a good idea if one of you did. --ColinFine (talk) 09:32, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Advert and possible copyright infringement[edit]

The article on iBario appears to have been written, at least in part, promotionally and does not appear to follow the spirit of WP:Style. External links do not seem to have a good reputation with 3rd party blacklists. A portion of the article appears to promote software piracy:
"Another name for InstallBrain, people can download programs that can read files....It offers free download of copyrighted software like Microsoft Office."
Somebody needs to take a look at this. 198.200.97.222 (talk)

Agreed. See this which warrants a mention in the article. Maproom (talk) 17:19, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

German translation needed[edit]

I have done a search for a German rock band (Electric Moon)using the English Wikipedia, and there is nothing. However, If I search on the Deutch page, there is an article. I do not read German. Is there a translator someplace on the Wikipedia site I can use? Thank you! 130.199.3.165 (talk) 14:59, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia languages are edited independently and we don't have machine translation but you can use Google Translate at https://translate.google.com/. Enter https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Moon in the left box, select German to English, and click the link in the right box. Note that the quality of machine translation varies a lot. If you use Internet Explorer then you can also install Google Toolbar for easier access to Google translations. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:23, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedians who have agreed to translate from German upon request: Category:Translators de-en. If you make such a request, I suggest you check that the person has had recent edit activity and is not inactive. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 15:29, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to the above, sometimes especially if a small selection, you may find a volunteer at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Language. Alanscottwalker (talk) 15:36, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If all else fails, I myself can at least attempt at translation. I speak German well enough to understand and be understood by native speakers, even though my German is worse than my English, and English itself is not my native tongue. JIP | Talk 21:52, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cary Fukunaga[edit]

Cary Fukunaga (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

From his mother: I do not have a middle name. I was a history PROFESSOR at the university level. I guided Cary away from Kenya to some place like Ghana as a safer place to make Beasts of No Nation. I edited the script for Sin Nombre many times to make it presentable to a film company like Focus, though never credited for it. I gave Cary $5000 seed money for his first film that got attention, the short, Victoria para Chino. Cary started writing film scripts at age 13 and had two goals: snowboarding and film. He made the right choice. I became disabled by a severe auto accident in 2008 which put me in a trauma unit and disabled me, though several surgeries, physical therapy, and the right medications make life almost normal again. However, it put me in the poor house and for that, and something else that my son will never resolve with me, he has shut me out of his life. I was so broke when the first polar vortex hit New England in January 2014 that I ran out of oil heat money and asked him for a LOAN until some money came in from my godfather's trust. He treated me as if he were a bank and asked for everything a bank would to get a personal loan. Refer back to the $5000 I gave Cary without reserve to make Victoria para Chino though he spent a fortune each year on snowboard equipment, clothing, gear, travel, and trips. He even asked me if I budgeted (oil was ridiculously high in 2014) even though I made it through the first years after divorcing his father with NO child support and then later again, made it just fine WHEN I COULD WORK. Living on a low fixed income from SSDI, unable to earn more, cost me the loss of four expensive rental properties that I could not maintain nor hire someone to maintain. He appears to care so much about "people" yet the person who did the most for him as a child is persona non grata. Since our last conversation regarding my shortage of cash for oil heat, I had to keep the house in New England colder than normal and ended up with the flu, double pneumonia, and a pulmonary embolism, staying in ICU for 2 days then staying at the hospital on IVs for various drugs another 4 days. It took weeks to recover my breath and any strength I had managed to rebuild from the auto accident. Not a year later, a dangerous situation in a place I was staying caused me to fall with my arms fall. I thought I had just bruised the knee and elbow that took the hardest hit and had a muscle pull. That last bit didn't get better so I consulted another physician. I had a hernia and I had part of my internal organs coming out of it, which he pushed back in and arranged for surgery ASAP. Unfortunately, surgery carries risks and I had internal hemorrhaging which required a trip to ER and it took almost 24 hours to do a blood transfusion of 3 bags and put in a drain in my abdomen to monitor the situation. At some point, this very "caring" man will not have a mother and will have never shown her any care since he started down his road to fame. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.90.3.86 (talk) 23:17, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for your suffering. But I'm afraid that Wikipedia is not the right place for accounts like this: we require that information have been published in a reliable place before it can be used in a Wikipedia article. --ColinFine (talk) 23:46, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Personal information on Wikipedia[edit]

I've been contacted by a politician because I've restored referenced information regarding his home. He is concerned about security. I'd be grateful if some one could point me towards the relevant policy or page for such a situation. Many thanks. Dalliance (talk) 23:55, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
