Deleting Administrator[edit]

Hello,

I created a page that was deleted because of the following:

18:33, 27 January 2015 Jni (talk | contribs) deleted page Draft:Gregory V. Jones (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.sou.edu/envirostudies/faculty/jones.html)

What I am unsure of is why? I created the referenced page (http://www.sou.edu/envirostudies/faculty/jones.html) and used my on photo on both. How does one create a wiki page without falling into this problem. Now if I create another attempt at this page I will run afoul of other issues. It says to "first contact the deleting administrator" however I do not see how to do this anywhere. Please help, I am a rookie at this.

The deleting administrator is Jni. You can contact them on their userpage, User talk:Jni. At the bottom of http://www.sou.edu/envirostudies/faculty/jones.html it says "All Content © 2012 Southern Oregon University 1250 Siskiyou Boulevard Ashland, OR 97520 541-552-7672" That means it can not be copied directly from there to here as it does not have a compatible license. -- GB fan 01:36, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The opening <ref> tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page).[edit]

As the husband of the person in question, I have made a few corrections and additions. I seem to have made a mistake in the coding; the matters seem minor but I cannot be sure. Could someone please help with this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pmaxmont (talkcontribs) 02:15, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I put nowiki tags around the ref tag in your section heading, because it was stopping your question from being displayed properly. I have also changed the url in your question to a wikilink. --David Biddulph (talk) 02:39, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You had put a full stop inside the tag <ref name="Aulmann". />, so I changed it to .<ref name="Aulmann"/>. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David Biddulph (talkcontribs) 02:52, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And after that you had another error. You had removed the usage of the named reference <ref name="Soest" />, so I have put that back in. - David Biddulph (talk) 02:57, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

suggestion about content display[edit]

Hi, Suggestion is about content interlinking . There are various interlinking of pages of wikipedia .Whenever I am reading any article , various blue color text which has separate links are given. It is tedious task for reader to go to that page and read the whole transcript which is just needed to understand the original one .Instead of that , if wikipedia could do like 'if I bring the cursor on the link , it should show the first paragraph of link content in yellow color box below the link.' It would be of enormous help to users. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.236.164.133 (talk) 07:37, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has such a feature, though it can only be used by users with registered accounts. To enable it (once you have registered an account), go to your user preferences, select the "Gadgets" tab, and check "Navigation popups". Maproom (talk) 08:33, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

using talk[edit]

how do I reply to a message in talk, I cannot see where I write etc, many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2015newbie (talkcontribs) 11:45, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Click on the [edit] link alongside the section heading. Indent your reply by preceding it with a colon (or with one more colon than on the message to which you are replying). Sign the message at the end by either adding 4 tildes ~~~~ or using the signature icon in the edit toolbar. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:31, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a guide on the conventions for properly using talk pages? What about one for formatting talk pages, for example, if I notice a page has lots of random headers that are old, outdated, and irrelevant. What's the process for cleaning one of these up. Thanks. See Help:Using talk pages for the mechanics of talk pages and Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines for conduct guidelines. Wikipedia:Etiquette may also be relevant. 67.188.230.128 (talk) 05:38, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with Wikipedia articles' images & PDFs[edit]

I hope this is the right location for my query.

I’m not using Wikipedia’s book-creator (PDF) because the book’s title is not there, when I get the book (PDF). I’ve reported the problem, to Wikipedia, but I only got (I guess, I’m not sure what it is) something that quotes (??) my question and that perhaps is an answer, in....German....

I’m using MozillaFirefox add-on “Print Pages To PDF” but there’s a Wikipedia-only problem. This Firefox add-on works very well with all websites, except Wikipedia. It does not reproduce (to PDF) the images contained in Wikipedia’s articles. The text is fine, the images are not there. As I said, the problem is only with Wikipedia, the add-on works fine with all other websites.

The issue began a couple of weeks ago. Has Wikipedia changed something with its articles’ images, lately??

I’ve checked and re-checked my computer, I’ve disabled other Firefox add-ons, other apps, etc, but the problem remains. I'm not an expert, so I don't understand if the problem is with the add-on, or with Wikipedia, or both.

In advance, thanks for your help BeginnerW (talk) 16:18, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Bernasconi article[edit]

To whom it may concern, We experienced problems on our article that we tried to redress without success. From the initial submission we provided only material that is in our possession and displayed at the Museo Mario Bernasconi and at the Casa natale in Pazzallo Lugano Switzerland. Some of the pictures we submitted and displayed in the Museum were taken by professional photographers friends and colleagues of Mario Bernasconi that were compensated at the time (70 years ago) and are now deceased. The daughter of Mario Bernasconi, Claudia published three books on the life of her father and for the last book published by Salvioni editore Bellinzona in 2005 she commissioned TI-Press SA Carlo Reguzzi to provide pictures of all works of art. TI-Press was paid in full and released the copyright of the pictures to the Museum. The museo Mario Bernasconi is a non profit Museo with free entrance to the Public. In spite of your classification of low interest Mario Bernasconi was a major sculptor of the period (1900) so much so that his works are considered the symbol of the city Paradiso-Lugano (Acquaiola) and of the city of Lugano the "Risveglio" (awakening).

Having said all this we were puzzled when Wikipedia removed the pictures of the sculptor with one of his model (Mario e Giovane Madre) and the one of the Idiot (La Scema) and the head of "Eva" all were prized works by the Swiss Confederation.

At the same time a Picture of the sculptor by Photographer Brunel was also removed.

At the time we complained but with no results.

now a few years later two additional pictures were removed: one of Claudia neonata and one of Filippo Boldini. Both works as the previous ones are original in our possession, exhibited at the Museo with no restrictions on anyone that wants to take pictures or films. (Swiss TV program Cult 82 by RSI Quotidiano made various films) (also various youtube films were made) over the years; and again for the pictures thereof made by TI-Press we have the copyright, All the original bronzes, casts, and pictures are in our possession and exhibited at the Museo with no restrictions for visitors.

We feel that the pictures complement the article and wonder why they were removed; We thank you for your attention, regards, Claudia Esposito Bernasconi Museum Curator Museo Mario Bernasconi Piazzetta Mario Bernasconi 7 6912 Pazzallo CH <redacted>

We repeat the original bronzes, casts, and pictures are in our possession and exhibited at the Nuseo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Claudia esposito bernasconi (talkcontribs) 23:31, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The images were removed from Wikimedia Commons for copyright reasons. For an image to be kept on Wikipedia Commons, there must be evidence that any relevant copyright has expired or been released under a suitably free license. My understanding of the deletion notices here and here is that the problem was not the copyright in the images, but in the sculptures themselves, which presumably belongs to the sculptor's heirs. The best place to discuss this may be here. Maproom (talk) 09:54, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
