two archive bots and two sets of archive page names[edit]

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Catholicism contains both User:MiszaBot and User:HBC Archive Indexerbot, which one can be removed? —BoBoMisiu (talk) 01:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried asking on the project's talk page or on the noticeboard for the parent project? Best to let those who are running the project make that determination. RegistryKey(RegEdit) 01:47, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@BoBoMisiu: The two bots are complementary; MiszaBot creates archives and the Indexerbot maintains an index. The unusual situation here is that in 2010 someone switched from sequentual archives 1, 2, 3... to annual archives 2010, 2011... I have updated the headers at the top of the talk page to make this clearer. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:04, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Page Histories[edit]

Fly Guy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

How would I go about getting the history of a page (or a whole page) deleted? The reason I ask is because I moved an article I created over to Fly Guy and it's caused a problem where The page isn't registered here, a page I use to track the articles I've created. Needless to say, I now know what "Deleted to make way for move" means.

Americanfreedom (talk) 02:47, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What you have done is taken a page which was originally an article about a character from the Mario video game series, subsequently turned into a redirect, and changed it into an article on another subject entirely. This isn't at all appropriate, and should probably be reverted. Articles are about specific subjects, not things sharing the same name, and you can't just substitute a new topic for an old one like that. AndyTheGrump (talk) 03:19, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The Mario character article was changed to a redirect in 2006. If the old subject isn't notable enough for its own article then it seems OK to change the redirect into an article about another subject. I don't see reason to mess with the page history just to get the author of the current content listed as the first contributor. I don't know whether deleting the older versions would actually affect the tool you use. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:01, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've done this before, but it was usually radio station call letters. As long as there is a hatnote linking to the previous redirect target, I would say it's okay.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:54, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recycle 4 Egypt - page is accepted or not[edit]

Hello

I just created this page and I really dont know if is accepted or not.

I researched on deletion logs, and no joy..

Please could you assist?

thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Recycle 4 Egypt (talkcontribs) 13:23, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recycle 4 Egypt, I assume you refer to User:Recycle 4 Egypt. That hasn't ben deleted, yet, but it is not appropriate as a user page, and should either be delted or moved into the Draft: namespace to be developed into a proper article, if notability can be established. It would need extensive work to be a proper article. DES (talk) 13:59, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Recycle 4 Egypt: I have moved the page to Draft:Recycle 4 Egypt and added a tag so you can press the green button to place it in line for review. However, right now it completely fails all of our content polices and will be rejected (if not deleted). It will need to be re-written to establish that it has received notice and coverage from people not connected with it and re-written as in the tone of an encyclopedia article about a subject and not as if Wikipedia were providing a free webhost advertisement for the subject. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:46, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Translation to English[edit]

I have an article on an Danish artist named Mogens Ege. The article is in Danish ( I think). How do I or is it possible to translate this short article into English. The article is displayed currently on de.wikipedia.org/wik/Mogens Ege. Thanks 2605:E000:1C05:40EB:D42C:FB0E:FBB1:F117 (talk) 15:26, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The right link is https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mogens_Ege, or de:Mogens Ege as a wikilink. de is German (Deutsch) and the article is in German. There are currently no other Wikipedia languages with an article about the person. See Wikipedia:Translation if you want to create a translation. I suggest you create an account but you can use Wikipedia:Articles for creation without it. If you just want something readable for yourself then try entering the url in Google Translate at https://translate.google.com/. This will give a machine translation which is not suitable for Wikipedia. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:45, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note that Wikipedia languages may have different requirements and an English article should satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (people). PrimeHunter (talk) 15:49, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the article is actually in German, not Danish (.de= Deutschland= Germany). Joseph2302 (talk) 15:53, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
a quick look at google books leads me to the impression that there were 2 Mogens Ege - one a painter in the first half of the 1900s and the other involved in publishing in the mid to late 1900s. The German article is rather sparse in its sourcing I am not easily finding significant coverage about either.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:03, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseph2302: Just some nitpicking: In de.wikipedia.org, the de doesn't stand for Deutschland=Germany as in the .de top-level domain, but rather for Deutsch=German (language), the ISO 639-1 code for the language. For de.wikipedia.org is the German-language Wikipedia, not the Wikipedia of Germany ;-) - that's a distinction quite important for people like me, coming from German-speaking countries other than Germany (I'm from the German-speaking part of Switzerland). Sometimes, we can be quite irritated when people treat the German-language Wikipedia as "Germany's Wikipedia"... Gestumblindi (talk) 18:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, I've struck the incorrect information. I guess it's the same as .en meaning English language, which includes British, American, South African, Australian varieties. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:46, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. German is a language spoken in Germany, which is a country, and in other countries. English is a language spoken in England, which is a constituent country, and in other countries. Spanish is a language spoken in Spain and in other countries. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:05, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

low carb foods and vegetables[edit]

I need to find help with learning about low carb food & vegitables — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.215.97.165 (talk) 19:09, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Carbohydrates, vegetables. And if you have further questions, I suggest that you ask at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. AndyTheGrump (talk) 19:12, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for a "tool" to improve references[edit]

OK, so it turns out that ReFill only works to "fill in parameters" on bare url refs.

Is there another tool, like ReFill, that can be used to fill in just missing parameters from references that already use, say, the {{Cite web}} template?... I've found an article, Murder of Adrianne Reynolds, where such a tool would be really useful, as the refs on the article in question really only need all of the 'title=' parameters filled in. Thanks in advance! --IJBall (contribstalk) 19:10, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I use Wikipedia:RefToolbar, which can be enabled in the Editing section of Gadgets in your Preferences. Great little tool. RegistryKey(RegEdit) 00:08, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but unless I'm missing something, RefToolbar only automatically loads the citation templates for you, but it doesn't "find" missing parameters like ReFill does. I think Citation expander is supposed to be able to do that, but it looks like Citation bot is down right now. However, the WP:CITETOOLs page looks to be a useful page for this kind of thing – WebRef may be able to do what I'm looking for, so I may give that a shot... --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:39, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK, WebRef doesn't "auto-fill" in reference parameters either (it only grabs parameters one reference at a time, and you still have to either add the reference manually, or insert the missing parameters manually). So it's Citation expander, or bust, at this point. If Citation expander doesn't do it either, it looks like this exposes a gap in the current set of Ref Tools – it seems that something that functions like ReFill, but that works on references that have already been "templated" but with only partially-filled in parameters, may be needed... --IJBall (contribstalk) 01:06, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting a photo[edit]

I'm ready to insert the photo for my draft article on a famous geneticist, but don't know how. Please help. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dave Truesdale (talkcontribs) 23:37, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have inserted a photo in Draft:Bryant Villeponteau. I assume that indicates you have found the answer to your question. If I assume wrong, please post here again. —teb728 t c 04:11, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
