"Undoing" the latest MW version[edit]

I don't care for a cosmetic aspect of this week's software update: it increases the spacing between lines of text, so overall not as much text appears on the screen. Is there some way to undo it, perhaps with some custom JS or CSS, so that the text appears to be more closely spaced than the default? Nyttend (talk) 01:30, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on your skin. For vector, something like

.mw-body p { line-height: 12pt !important }

St. Mary of the Cataract Should Be in the Wikipedia[edit]

Dear Editorial Staff:

St. Mary of the Cataract should be in the Wikipedia; and so why was the church not included? Additionally an update of Temple Beth El of Niagara Falls, NY should be included in the Wikipedia. St. Mary of the Cataract is located under the direction of Father Mazur in Niagara Falls, NY and was previously led by Father Burzinski (spelling)....Please correct the above omissions as quickly and confidentially as possible.

Ruby Andrews[edit]

I am Ruby Andrews, I have tried and tried to correct information on this site forever concerning me. I keep getting a message about my information. What is going on with this? Do I have the right to correct my own biographical information that some journalist who have interviewed me have gotten wrong? I have tried to correct this but someone keeps denying that to be done. I have fans who read up on my bio, and they are repeating this misinformation. I want you to tell me what I have to do to make this right as long as my fans come to this site.

You have a conflict of interest because you are the subject of the article, Ruby Andrews. We rely on information about the subjects of articles that is provided by reliable sources. If the information contained in the article is incorrect, you may go to the talk page, Talk: Ruby Andrews, to request that it be corrected. You may also go to the noticeboard for biographies of living persons. Since the article isn't frequently edited, you might get a response quicker by going to the noticeboard. @Ruby Andrews:Hello. Since the article is about you, you are discouraged from editing it directly. However, if there are inaccuracies it is important that those be corrected. The correct way to go about getting that fixed is to go to the article's talk page (at Talk:Ruby Andrews) and state what changes you would like to see made, and cite a reliable secondary source for each change. However, Ruby Andrews, the standard we use is that of verifiability not truth, because verifiability is all that a reader could go on. I get the impression from your question that you are saying that a published source is in error. If this is the case, I am afraid that is what we must go with, because in the first place, (without wishing to be rude), we have no way of determining that you are Ruby Andrews and not somebody who has created an account with her name; and secondly, if we allow information in the article which is different from any published version, then if anybody changed it (which could happen at any time, deliberately, or by mistake, or even maliciously) then a reader next week or next month or next year would have no way of ascertaining whether it is true. Requiring a published reference means that a reader can always verify material found in Wikipedia. A number of messages have already been left explaining this, both on the editor's talk page and on the article talk page. It appears that the main issue is that all reliable sources give a different birth year (by 9 years!) to the one the editor wishes to include. But, if only the editor were to set out their concerns, they can be addressed - but, by independent editors, not by the person herself. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:13, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since the article is not frequently edited, the subject of the article might get attention to her concerns more quickly at the biographies of living persons noticeboard. In the case of disputed birth dates, sometimes the date is omitted. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:49, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Flags of the Confederate States of America[edit]

I've always found Wiki to be well informed, but the article about "Flags of the Confederate States of America" is so biased it made me ill. Both the Confederacy and Union are part of my personal heritage. I am proud of all my ancestor's bravery and sacrifice. The way most people see it, the Confederate Flag has nothing to do with hate or race …. it is just part of our American and family history. Our history can not be rewritten by removing evidence it existed. A lot of people lost their lives in that war, on both sides and flying both flags is a way to honor them. All memorials should have the flag flown over them that represents them, without exception or comment. Leave history and it's symbols alone. Let's use our history (the good, bad, and the ugly) as a teaching tool so our youth do not repeat the same mistakes. I feel strongly that all Wiki articles should be written with neutral historical facts. Wikipedia's policies require that articles be written from a neutral point of view, covering all the different views of the subject that are expressed in the reliable published sources. This requires that controversial or political views be added, but that the article does not come down in favour of any particular view.
