November 28[edit]

Have I done the dates in ref number 50 correctly on this page? Thanks 101.182.171.41 (talk) 00:17, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a problem with it. Dismas|(talk) 00:19, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page: missing unsigned IP[edit]

I want to make clear that an entry after mine of a Talk page is not indeed mine. The comment however has no signature at all and the IP signature bot seems to have missed it also. Looking at the Talk page history, the comment was made on the same day as mine, but there apparently no record of the unsigned contributor. How can this be fixed? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Lockheed_Martin_RQ-170_Sentinel#Specifications truthdowser (talk) 01:06, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't clear what the subject of this inquiry is. There have been no recent edits to that talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:14, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The paragraph was entered by this edit with two paragraphs of different indentation, and another editor subsequently posted between the two paragraphs. Maybe the solution is to copy the signature on the second paragraph to the first. —teb728 t c 01:26, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Truthdowser: I guess you refer to [1] although it wasn't an IP. The edit was signed but inappropriately used two different indentations, and somebody later placed a new post between the two parts. I have assembled the two parts.[2] Does that fix your concern? PrimeHunter (talk) 01:34, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you much for sorting this out, making the fix and explaining the situation. I wanted to fix the Talk page confusion before I made an edit to the article. There was a personal interest due to my old comment and an interest as an editor as to what to do when a IP autosign bot missed a talk entry. Now I see that I had totally misunderstood what had happened. The IP autosign bot didn't miss anything. truthdowser (talk) 15:32, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jazz Trombone category[edit]

Could you please add Ira Nepus to your Jazz Trombonists.

See iranepus.com or iranepusmusic.com for more information. Thank you so very much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.242.178.102 (talk) 05:24, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look like we have an article on this person yet. That would be the first step. If you are willing to start it yourself, you could do so at articles for creation. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:09, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please help with ref. number 51 on the above page. I stuffed it up. Thanks Srbernadette (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed with this edit. You left the cite news template open. —teb728 t c 09:14, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another queery![edit]

I have removed a line form the "Maternal ancestry - Goldsmith" section on the above page: ==Family of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge==. We could find NO citations for it at all. Was this added line a type of vandalism? Thanks and please check the page 101.182.171.41 (talk) 10:24, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see no reason to think that the line was added as vandalism. Someone had added a [citation needed] tag to it last month - it might have been better to leave it there, with the tag, for longer, so as to give other editors a chance to find a reference. I found and added references for both the sentences you deleted, by Googling for "Sophia Goldsmith married Henry Hickmott", and reading the second page listed (the first was the Wikipedia article itself). Ronnie Apteker[edit]

Hello

I wish to create a page about Ronnie Apteker, South African entrepreneur and film producer. However, Wiki seems to think that a page with that title already exists - but it is merely a redirect to Internet Solutions, the IT company he set up. Is it possible to remove that redirect so that a proper Ronnie Apteker page can be created? Any help/advice much appreciated Picknick99 (talk) 12:23, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You do not need to remove the redirect. Just expand it into the article. Ruslik_Zero 12:50, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
See Wikipedia:Redirect#How to edit a redirect or convert it into an article. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:54, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But since you have already created the draft in your sandbox, Picknick99, it would be better to ask an admin to move your draft over the redirect, rather than doing a copy-and-paste yourself. In fact, my suggestion would be to request a review by adding {{subst:submit}} to the top of your draft. When your draft is accepted, the accepting reviewer will arrange for it to be moved to the right place. --ColinFine (talk) 15:10, 28 November 2015 (UTC) --ColinFine (talk) 15:10, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the draft to draft space as Draft:Ronnie Apteker. I neither accepted nor declined the draft, but advised the author to remove promotional language. The redirect will still need admin action when the article is approved. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:50, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

<copyright-violating material deleted>

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.137.223 (talk) 14:19, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information can't be added to a Wikipedia article unless it is supported by reputable published sources. The text proposed here does not give any source information at all. More importantly, the text looks was copied directly from https://telagamatrimony.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/, which makes it a copyright violation. Gregory Ulas Powell[edit]

I have recently created the biographical article, Gregory Powell (murderer). The article is about Gregory Ulas Powell, one of two men responsible for The Onion Field crime. I am aware that there is a redirect in Wikipedia by the name of Gregory Ulas Powell. Would it be logic to nominate this redirect for deletion since I have already created this article about Powell? Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 19:01, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've modified the redirect to point to your new page instead. CaptRik (talk) 19:06, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions from filmography[edit]

Hello, some people are deleting red and black film entries on actors filmography on the actors biography pages. Is this right.? Personally I like to see the full list of their work and would rather blacken red links than delete them. Also l've seen very small film stubs have their named cast lists reduced from 8 to4 because they have black links ,it seems too much reduction for a stub.Thanks87.113.39.93 (talk) 19:23, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a catalog. An article like Hal Walters has three serious defects: it says very little about its subject, it has no acceptable references, and its list of films in which he appeared is much too long. I don't know what the official guidelines say; but I believe that if the lists of works in any article together exceed the length of the rest of the article, they are too long and should be trimmed. Maproom (talk) 19:43, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks but I disagree about reducing the list of someone's life work,of course the article is very lacking otherwise.Wickipedia should give comprehensive information not edited highlights which are very subjective.87.113.39.93 (talk) 19:52, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB attempts to give comprehensive lists of data. We aim to provide encyclopedic coverage. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:59, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. --ColinFine (talk) 20:24, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How pompous can you get?87.113.39.93 (talk) 20:31, 28 November 2015 (UTC) Advisors on help desk should be polite not rude and why stalk what page I was on before? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.39.93 (talk) 20:36, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

When you come to the Help Desk and ask a vague question or state a vague complaint, in order to know what the issue is, it is common to check your edit history. Checking your edit history in order to understand what you are asking is not considered stalking, just getting information. Complaining pompously about pomposity is not collaborative editing. If you have any specific issues about any specific article, discuss on the article talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:46, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I withdraw the stalking comment but I consider the responses to be lacking in civility.87.113.39.93 (talk) 20:55, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pot. Kettle. Black. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:50, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to the Teahouse, 87.113.39.93. Since there seems to be very little biographical information available on Hal Walters, it might make sense to call it Hal Walters discography and classify it as a list. There are lots of filmographies on Wikipedia (see Category:Filmographies); and it is reasonable (and common practice) to include all of the films for a given actor. Indeed, this is one of the common selection criteria ("Short, complete lists of every item that is verifiably a member of the group"). It's probably unusual to have a filmography for someone who is not notable enough for their own article, but it could be argued that the list is notable since there are reliable independent sources for it. I suggest that you discuss the issue at Talk:Hal Walters and maybe at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film. RockMagnetist(talk) 23:38, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to the Help Desk, User:RockMagnetist. I don't think that the IP would have gotten different advice at the Teahouse. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:48, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the confusion! I spend more time there. RockMagnetist(talk) 23:51, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Liza JK birth date and more[edit]

Hi, everyone know what is Liza Jacqueline Kaplan's official birth date and birth place? I can only found feb 20 82, on database's. and everyone know what is her currently occuptian.--Maxie1hoi (talk) 22:25, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article in question is Liza Jacqueline Kaplan. It contains non-neutral language. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:40, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That article is a re-creation of an article that was redirected pursuant to a deletion discussion. As a result, I have tagged it for speedy deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:49, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Duh I knew it. The reason that I re-creat it was this reason: We have now a refrence and a part of her bio.--Maxie1hoi (talk) 10:09, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
