How do I auto archive talkpages?[edit]

There are some articles that have too many topics and are not auto archived. I thought I put the right template for archive bot but it was not so. I've looked at WP:ARCHIVE but can't seem to find the exact instructions (or seem to have missed them).--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 04:15, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nadirali: This edit should have worked, but you overwrote the archiving instructions an hour later. The archiving robot fires up just once a day, I think, so you need to leave the instructions in place. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:07, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you John of Reading, how do I do that? Meaning how do I restore this.--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 18:33, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nadirali: I put the archiving instructions back after posting here. With any luck the old threads will be archived in the next 24 hours. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:34, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you John of Reading, very much appreciated for your time and help.--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 20:06, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marking an article as unreviewed[edit]

If an article is marked as reviewed, but I think it needs further review that I am not ready to give it, how can I mark it as unreviewed. I have seen log entries where that was done, but I don't see a way to do it. —teb728 t c 11:45, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Curation Toolbar screenshot
@Teb728: if you're talking about Page Curation there's a toolbar with a "tick" icon (see right) that can be used to mark a page as unreviewed. If you've closed the toolbar, then look for a link called "Curate this article" in the "Tools" section of the left-hand navigation page, when you're looking at the article concerned. Hope this helps. Strange issue where "=" symbol in links mangles up display on my user page[edit]

I had a list of articles I worked on together with a link to usage stats - see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Penbat&oldid=699130768 Usage stats can be found on the history page of articles. But now we have a new link to usage stats eg http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Narcissism has changed to https://tools.wmflabs.org/musikanimal/pageviews#pages=Narcissism&project=en.wikipedia.org. But when I updated my user page the formatting went haywire see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Penbat.

I worked out that for some strange reason the "columns-list" command freaks out if there is a "=" in an enclosed link. Ive proven this here User:Penbat/test1. Any ideas how I can fix this ?--Penbat (talk) 13:51, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Fixed. --Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 15:25, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wow - thanks for that - much appreciated :-) --Penbat (talk) 15:33, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, the problem was the first bullet point at Help:Template#Usage hints and workarounds. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:20, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Diverging birth dates[edit]

Hey, with KasparBots Persondata Challenge I find many articles here in en WP with diverging birth dates, f.e. Bill Peterson. Because I'm not sure in some cases which date is correct I skip the challenge. Is there a place to collect that articles, so en wp users can work off that list? Queryzo (talk) 19:51, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@T.seppelt: Can you answer this? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:19, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Queryzo: And it looks like you are already discussing something related with him over on dewiki. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:21, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
At the moment challenges which are skipped are not collected. We could think of a function like mark for further examination? -- T.seppelt (talk) 09:10, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, this would be great, but still I would like to open a task somewhere here in en WP but not on the discussion pages, so volunteers can easily find a complete list of diverging birth dates due to the fact that there is so many data to be checked. Queryzo (talk) 10:22, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you can even find them by playing with regular expressions (fetching infobox value and comparing it to the dates in the introductory paragraph). When it comes to changes in the tool's UI User:Izno is probably also interested.--T.seppelt (talk) 12:33, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@T.seppelt: My expectation for "skip" was that that function would move challenges back into the queue. The presence of a "skip" =~ "I don't know about this" would seem to overlap with "mark for further examination" from a UI perspective. Maybe there should be a (complete) list generated for all skipped items similar to the recent challenges list. --Izno (talk) 15:29, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I should probably clarify this: The decision to skip a challenge is not logged, not even in the user's session. And there is no queue, the challenges are only fetched with ORDER BY RAND(). Of course this can be adapted. I agree with you, the UI should not be more complicated. Logging the skips is a good approach. --T.seppelt (talk) 19:17, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Queryzo: Skip is correct if you are unsure, though I would definitely suggest that you should try to resolve each inconsistency. I have made some comments at WT:Persondata#Challenges with more precise dates on Wikidata which you might also find interesting regarding this point. --Izno (talk) 15:29, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Is it possible to check the infobox values with the Wikidata values and track everything in categories?--T.seppelt (talk) 19:17, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
