The word Latino

[edit]

on your page you are miss using the word Latino Latino just does not mean Spanish person or one from south America if you use Latino as a synonym for people you must include the French portuguese Romanians and above all the Italians who by the way are not white / angol saxon but some say well we mean south America or latin America well there are over 50 million Italians in south America the latin people are the same people especially the spamish and the Italiams who are Mediterranean people lets get the facts straight ok — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.108.194 (talk) 00:36, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You don't specify which of our five million articles but the opening sentence of Latino (demonym) has no less than ten references. This is the English Wikipedia and in English, "Latino" means what the article says. Maybe you are confusing the term with Latin peoples. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:59, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) :You don't say which 'page' you are referring to. Do you have a source for your definition as this quick google search would seem to disagree with your opinion? Eagleash (talk) 01:05, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

There is an external link that I think adds value to a topical page on Wikipedia. The problem is that I don't know which page specifically it would best fit and I am not certain about the best way to add the link. Can you review and let me know if it meets the quality guidelines and then also let me know where and how to add.

The subject is related to the pelvic floor. The external link is http://www.pilatespal.com/articles/strengthening-the-pelvic-floor-by-activating-the-kinetic-chain/.

Here are the Wikipedia options that it could apply to:

a)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelvic_floor b)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelvic_floor_dysfunction c)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kegel_exercise (found under the search pelvic floor muscle training) d)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelvic_floor_muscle_disorder

While option c) seems most fitting, by way of the search phrase, the external link references another method. Option d) talks to many of the references included in the content of the external link being that the writer is a physical therapist, refers to the kegel exercise, and provides video and detailed descriptions of the additional exercise being reference other than the kegel.

If you find the article provides value then the next question is how is it added in order to meet the guidelines? I have experienced these issues and found that the additional information does provide value which is why I have an interest in sharing it. Please let me know how to handle this addition to the Wikipedia platform. Thank you. Pilatespal (talk) 11:24, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As your username is the same as the website, it appears that you are trying to promote your website by adding spam links. Please read and follow our policy on editing when you have a conflict of interest. Furthermore your username appears to contravene our Username policy which precludes names which "represent the name of a company, group, institution or product" I will add some links to your user talk page explaining how to change your name. - Arjayay (talk) 11:32, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there's much question that the main goal of the link is for promotion of the website. While the specific content of the specific page may be useful information, the site is clearly using this information to promote themselves that's not our function.--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:23, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have finished making an article page for Walter Driver, but for some reason the page came out as WalterDriver without a space between his first and last name. @Kelseyjohnsonsapp: Now moved to Walter Driver (entrepreneur) - please note this does not affect the proposed deletion on the page -- samtar talk or stalk 14:52, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The proposed deletion has been removed but the article has now been nominated for deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:27, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How can I make any image like this that displays text when moused over but doesn't link. The smiley has that property How do I do it for any image. VarunFEB2003 (talk) 17:38, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If, in Wikipedia, you arrange an image to appear in a way that doesn't link, you may be violating the rights of whoever contributed that image. I don't know if that is in general possible, but if it is, please don't do it. Maproom (talk) 17:44, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Both things are possible but rarely done. Most images have a license that makes it illegal. Which image on which page do you want to do it for? PrimeHunter (talk) 18:17, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: I in general wanted to know the formula. Because it is widely used and allowed. VarunFEB2003 (talk) 14:01, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm concerned that you refuse to specify an image or purpose and don't appear to understand that for most images it doesn't merely go against Wikipedia policies but would also be an illegal license violation the owner of the image could theoretically take legal action against. Only consider removing the file page link for public domain images like File:Face-smile.svg. Most images have other licenses that require a file page link as attribution. Check the file page for the license. See {{Abbr}} and Wikipedia:Extended image syntax#Link. Your example uses the code <abbr title="Smiling face" style="border-bottom: none;">[[File:Face-smile.svg|18px|link=]]</abbr>. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:29, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Create mistake

en:Buhid alphabet and zh:布锡文, because the translation in the wrong place, request to delete.——Thyj (talk) 17:50, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want help in requesting deletion of an article in another language's Wikipedia, you need to ask there, not here on the English Wikipedia. Try zh:Wikipedia:互助客栈/求助. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:05, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Thyj: Your request is unclear. What exactly do you want deleted? en:Buhid alphabet is from 2004 and I see no reason to delete it. zh:布锡文 is at the Chinese Wikipedia and can only be deleted by an administrator at the Chinese Wikipedia. I don't know Chinese or their procedures for requesting deletion. Do you mean the page 布锡文 which was not mentioned in your post? PrimeHunter (talk) 18:13, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: Please delete enwiki's error article, thank you. - Thyj (talk) 18:19, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As you created 布锡文, you can add {{Db-author}} to the top of the article. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:23, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I guess you mean 布锡文 so I have deleted it as an author request. Please try to be specific another time. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:28, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Still cannot update image

[edit]

At a previous discussion here, I explained that I could not update an image (commons:File:English monarchy family tree.png) that I had previously uploaded to Wikipedia. PrimeHunter advised that it had been moved to "Commons", where an account for my Wikipedia username had been automatically created, and that I should wait four days for that account to be "autoconfirmed", after which time I should be able to update the image. That was on 15th July. It is now 22nd July, but I still cannot update the image. I'm getting the same "You cannot overwrite this file" message. Any ideas anyone? Another Matt (talk) 19:28, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried to bypass your cache at commons:File:English monarchy family tree.png? What does it say at "Member of groups:" at commons:Special:Preferences? Does this link work? PrimeHunter (talk) 19:39, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that worked. I have deleted all local cache and now I get the "Upload a new version of this file" link. By the way, I have encountered this ridiculous "clear cache" problem before at Wikipedia, so I should have been alert to it. But why is Wikipedia the only website in the world where this is a problem? When I visit other websites I never have to do this in order to see an updated version. I always, as far as I am aware, see the latest version of the page. It seems to be a design flaw within Wikipedia? Another Matt (talk) 00:20, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For this you probably only have to press F5 or click a reload icon but it depends on your browser. I guess you have encountered it elsewhere without discovering you see an old version. The Wikimedia servers get billions of page views on a modest budget for a website with such traffic, so the operators may make different choices than other websites. Your browser probably has a setting to never cache pages no matter what a website wants. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:41, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Upload New Company Logo Image for Page

[edit]

Hi,

I have been attempting to replace an outdated logo and replace it with the company's current logo for Healthline.com's page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthline

I keep getting error messages and the image gets marked for deletion. The logo was given to me by a member of the company in order to be placed on the page. Please tell me how I can complete this task.

Thank you, Rena — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ree1613 (talkcontribs) 22:11, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ree613: Greetings. You may want to upload the newer logo on File:Healthline Networks Logo.png, through the Upload a new version of this file button.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 22:43, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it's already done- logo updated here by Huon. Joseph2302 (talk) 22:50, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
