Password reset operation broken?[edit]

I forgot my password (username: submitra). I reset it with my username and email id and received a temporary password but when I try to log in with the temporary password it is not accepted. The system says : Login error. Incorrect password entered. Please try again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.192.119.72 (talk) 01:24, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • You are not typing in the right password sent to you via email. Reset your password again, then try again. Before that, you may try to clear all cookies and history of your current open browser sessions, then quit the current browser session and start a new browser session (this is because sometimes, browsers open pages from history rather than the refreshed version of the page). Then reset the password and follow the instructions. Should work. Xender Lourdes (talk) 01:43, 28 May 2016 (UTC

Please check this article. It is entirely self- published. Warnings have been given recently regarding it's removal. Thanks 2001:8003:4D37:4100:5D4D:A481:3BE4:C6BD (talk) 03:59, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article has been tagged appropriately. OP has received a low-level warning for what amounted to blanking the page. Eagleash (talk) 04:17, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore the tag multiple issues which we accidentally altered. This page remains a real concern for us. Thanks 101.189.0.102 (talk) 04:22, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done (Already fixed). Eagleash (talk) 04:24, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
On another note, please clarify the use of 'we' and why the page is of such concern. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 04:26, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Egleas - the helpful editor above: to answer your question;
I am a college lecturer, we have a number of Wikipedia editors amongst our cohort. Our drama department is alarmed that this person, Mathers, has her own page. Her Facebook page is titled Katminsky - the original editor/ creator of her own page. The refs included, we believe, are not secondary of reliable sources in any way. If this person is to retain this page, all of our very part-time, minor performers who are our graduates, should have their own page - as well as literally millions of other very part -time, non notable performers in the world. We all hope that the page will be removed as soon as possible.101.189.0.102 (talk) 04:36, 28 May 2016 (UTC) thankyou[reply]
We apologize for any confusion. Just because one person has a page on Wikipedia does not automatically qualify any other person to have a page. Every page, including Katrina Mathers, must have multiple, third-party reliable sources which can be used to verify the notability of the person in question. That is currently being discussed about this article. If the article passes the above threshold for inclusion, then it will remain. If not, it will be deleted. You can see information about our deletion policy here. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 06:28, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

about uploading information on wikipedia[edit]

Hello there my father is a writer and director of fiilms and serials ,he have contributed his most of time for the film industry of india , but still his information is not there on wikipedia so I wanted to give his resume and pictures to you but just for sake of permission I am writting this e-mail so let me know what to do. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.69.244.127 (talk) 11:19, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • What's his name? Write his name here and I'll try and do the rest. Xender Lourdes (talk) 13:39, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, anonymous user. Please be aware that if Wikipedia is to have an article about your father, it needs to be based almost 100% on what people who have no connection with him have published about him in reliable places (like major newspapers, or books from reputable publishers). If there is little or no independent writing about him, then he is not notable in Wikipedia's special sense, and there cannot be an article about him. If there is such writing, then there can be an article, which should be based on those writings. Either way, there is no point in you sending a resume. If you can find such sources, you are encouraged to make a request for an article at Requested articles, citing the sources. --ColinFine (talk) 15:18, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Or alternatively, as I mentioned above, leave his name here and let me check whether we can do something about it. Thanks. Xender Lourdes (talk) 04:14, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why speedy deletion?[edit]

Dear Sirs,

I received a message saying that my article was under scrutiny of speedy deletion and that I can contest that by pressing a contesting button which I can't find. The article I posted is written by byself by editing an old article I published in the Hong Kong Lawyer Magazine in November 2001. I hope anyone who wants to delete my article has to give cogent reason. I am grateful if my article can be published in the Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawrencelaw22 (talkcontribs) 11:26, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the page was nominated for deletion as explained at your talk-page "because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent." It is also an autobiography; please see WP:COI and there are various posts above regarding the writing of an autobiography. It is badly written and unsourced and not suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. However, the editor who notified you seems to have omitted to place the appropriate notice on the page which is where you'll find the contest button normally. Furthermore, the page has now been moved to Draft:Lawrence Law in order that it may be improved. The edit summary also gives detail as to why.
It would be a good idea if you find articles on a similar subject to see how they are written and laid out and also see WP:REFB for information on adding sources and WP:GNG for information as to notability.

The page is also a copy-vio and has been deleted as such. I'm afraid that just didn't register with me earlier. Eagleash (talk) 18:18, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'll also add, in case you are considering making the point, that it may seem surprising to have material removed as a copyright violation when you are the original author. There are at least two reasons for this. First, we don't require identification to create a username, so we have no direct system to confirm that you are the author of the material. (We do have an indirect system, in that you can file a permission statement.) Second, even though you may be the original author of the material, that doesn't necessarily mean you are the current copyright holder, as it is quite common to transfer copyright to the publisher of the magazine. For this reason, we require a permission statement from you stating that you are the copyright holder and providing a free license for the material. With all that said I don't encourage this step because the style of material written for a magazine is very likely not to be the appropriate style for a Wikipedia article.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:14, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref no key[edit]

<! I edited an article about Bishop Giuseppe Placido Nicolini of Assisi, Italy, and they say I have not tagged it correctly, but I have no idea what my mistake is. Please look at it and help me. Thanks

Done The page you edited was Assisi Network, please provide a link to a page when posting on talk pages. The page about the bishop is at a different location. The ref tags were formatted incorrectly. Should be <ref>'reference'</ref>. It has been fixed but the reference itself needs improving. Please see WP:REFB for more information. Please also sign your posts on talk-pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) This will produce your signature and a timestamp. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 23:04, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
