How do add references to our article?[edit]

We would like to start adding references to our article and I need some instructions on how to do this please. Kind regards, Allison Forner — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeffreyjhopp (talkcontribs) 04:44, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify what you mean by 'our' article? The page (if it passes review) will be Wikipedia's article about Mr. Hopp. Editors are discouraged from contributing to articles where they have a connection. Please see WP:COI for more information. When it comes to references, please see WP:REFB for a basic guide. I have tidied the headings and paragraphs into more like the usual form and removed the use of Wiki as a reference as it is not acceptable as wholly reliable. Eagleash (talk) 07:37, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Jeffreyjhopp your use of the plural "our" is indicative of a serious problem - a user account may only be used by a single individual person, it may not be shared by a group. In addition if you are not actually Jeffrey Hopp you are not allowed to use his name as your username. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:45, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Google shows that "Allison Forner" seems to be the name of a marketing company associated with Hopp. As such COI needs to be considered as well.
Note that all this doesn't mean "Allison Forner" cannot edit articles, just that there are additional conditions and restrictions the editor needs to be aware of, and as such I've added the {{welcome-COI}} template to the page. Whilst it may seem more of a warning, it should also help. Chaheel Riens (talk) 11:41, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No deletion log - Quite urgent[edit]

Hi, I've just noticed that the english Wiki page about Ladislav Bittman has been deleted and I cannot fin any Deletion Log. Can you please help me to re-establish it? It was quite important in my field.

thank you very much for your help, I'm not very expert in Wikipedia matters... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.146.97.165 (talk) 11:02, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There has apparently never been an English Wikipedia page entitled Ladislav Bittman, which is why you couldn't find a deletion log. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:14, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You will find pages that mention him at Special:WhatLinksHere/Ladislav Bittman, and in these search results. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:17, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Small correction. The page to which @Lourdes: refers is from the German Wikisource, not Wikipedia. The German Wikipedia page is at de:Ladislav Bittman, & it has inter-language links to sk:Ladislav Bittman in Slovenian and cs:Ladislav Bittman in Czech. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:44, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi David, I couldn't understand the wikisource thing you are referring to. Thanks. Lourdes 13:31, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Have you looked at Wikisource? --David Biddulph (talk) 15:11, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes I have. What I meant was that my link does not refer to Wikisource, but to Wikipedia German edition. Perhaps you did not check while posting your note. Lourdes 15:20, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was replying to your original message, which linked to the German Wikisource. I see that you corrected the link subsequently. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:31, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. The link was corrected before you posted your initial wikisource message; I guess you missed seeing the link at that time. No problems. Thanks for the response. Lourdes 15:37, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

György Droppa[edit]

approx 6 months ago, I became aware of a Wikipedia page about myself. After reviewing this page, it was determined to contain false facts with information with a tendency to misrepresent myself. Interestingly, I question the reasons why I became important enough to garner a Wikipedia page. I recently invested time and energy correcting the misinformation and today, I find some of the false facts have returned and corrected information has been removed. I would like to discuss the misinformation and return of this misinformation, with Norden1990, or take the next legal step, to discover why it is important for Norden1990 to persist in undermining the integrity of this Wikipedia page attached to my life? It is of interest to understand that my background and work takes place in Hungary and the Wikipedia page appears only in the English version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.236.37.195 (talk) 11:41, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst you are within your rights to feel aggrieved about what you see as "false information", you should be aware that Wikipedia takes a very dim view of legal threats, and your statement above of "or take the next legal step" could well be viewed as an intent to pursue legal action.
With regard to the issues you see over at György Droppa you removed cited and sourced information, replacing it with unsourced information, along with poor grammar and spelling. The last is a passing comment - as your English is far better than my Hungarian - but a comment nonetheless.
If you wish to pursue the matter, I'd suggest you leave a message for Norden1990 on his talk page (linked) or start discussion on the article talk page here.
You should also be aware that if you are Droppa yourself, then you have a conflict of interest, so are not supposed to edit the page directly yourself, rather you can use the talk page to make suggestions. Chaheel Riens (talk) 11:49, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is better to use a wikilink if you wish to refer to a Wikipedia page. The wikilink György Droppa is more readable than the url https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gy%C3%B6rgy_Droppa - David Biddulph (talk) 11:49, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just to clarify the "no legal threat" thing: you have every legal right to sue the Wikimedia Foundation (and individual editors), but if you decide to do so, then Wikipedia will immediately exclude you from its internal process. Which means that you will be blocked on sight (i.e., prevented from editing). TigraanClick here to contact me 17:54, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on Death[edit]

Reference help requested.

I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm still learning the markup, but I think I got those references right and they seem to work on the live page. Can someone experienced check for me? Thanks, Icebob99 (talk) 13:10, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Icebob99:, thank you for adding such archives. In Death the archive link had an unsupported archive-internal format, I changed it to the standard format. Only 2 "standard" formats for finalized archive snapshots are apparently supported. You can find some information about this in the documentation at the top of Category:Pages with archiveurl citation errors. The second link in Mandatory Swedish was simply incomplete (truncated in half) - I added a complete URL. As a quick tip: after you add archives and save the article (or "preview" it first), click the resulting archive link in the citation once more to make sure the link is really working, and to avoid eventual typos and copy/paste errors. GermanJoe (talk) 14:18, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @GermanJoe: for the help! I guess I can't copy-paste straight from archive.org. Quick clarifier on Mandatory Swedish-- I see now that I didn't actually cite the URL, I took it for granted that the archiveurl would work because I took it off archive.org. Testing links will fix that. Thanks for the help! Icebob99 (talk) 14:52, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stray noinclude[edit]

On the Portuguese Rugby League Association article, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom under the navboxes and above the categories, you'll see a </noinclude> tag. It must be being put there by some template or other, but I can't figure out what template to edit to make it go away. It doesn't show up in other articles transcluding the same templates that one has. Can anyone else figure it out? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:34, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed.[1] It was displayed after the last template so it was likely to be made by that template. You can test this by removing some of the code and preview. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:41, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. :) I wonder why it didn't show up in other articles using that template? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:46, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't examine other articles but maybe they were in the job queue and needed a purge to see it. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:51, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
